  • Here's Why The Suzuki Jimny Is Not A Good Daily Driver [Car Review]
    The Suzuki Jimny is an off-roading SUV. It is an automotive icon, and despite its humble price, the 2022 Suzuki Jimny still commands the same reverence as other off-roading greats, like the Jeep Wrangler. Until you drive it and live with it as a daily driver. In this Filipino car review, I take a deep and honest look at the 2022 Suzuki Jimny GLX to see if it is a suitable daily driver. A lot of people buy the Suzuki Jimny because it is cute, it looks quirky, retro, but do they really understand that the Suzuki Jimny is meant for off-roading only? The 2022 Suzuki Jimny GLX can be used as a daily driver, as long as you are willing to accept its shortcomings on paved roads. The 2022 Suzuki Jimny may look cute, but it is also a compromise on city streets. The Suzuki Jimny's primary purpose is to be an offroader, so if the Suzuki Jimny will spend most of its time on paved roads, then it is not performing its life purpose.

    This car is definitely for single, introvert, no kids or commitment, financially capable, non-race car driver, loves kawaii and nature kind of person😂 that’s why I want it. It’s so easy to buy car accessories to quirk up the inside like cute cup holders and stuff for a cheap price anyway. I’d still buy this car. Hopefully, soon☝️🙏💕

    I loved the Jimny on first sight so I said to myself, "that would be my next sidekick car". I understood from the start that it is tiny, so little cargo, not so comfy, but I still wanted to have it, even for being just a second utility car. I know what I'm going into! But when I saw the price tag - then looked again at the car's features, or lack thereof - I immediately realized that I'm gonna be robbed. Suzuki got so unscrupulous with its pricing just because Jimny so enamored everyone. I didn't proceed to buy it of course, not because I didn't have the budget, but because I don't like the feeling that I'm being duped. You hit the nail on the head, sir, kudos to you for further shedding light on why this car should only really about half of the price it is being sold.

    As a Jimny owner, I can tell you this car has many flaws and is impractical if you're more than 2 people. Some of these shortcomings can be solved with some aftermarket accessories and while it is rough around the edges, it still is a lovable and fun car to drive around. Great review!

    Props to you Sir Reygan for having the courage to discuss every reason why this car is so impractical for daily driving, especially for pointing out the cupholder issue, it may seem like a detail that can be ignored by some, but it seems like a big deal for me given the price point and time we are in. Also, to the ones who keeps on saying that you should speak in Tagalog, don't mind them, you are doing great, Sir. I'm a lowkey supporter of your channel.

    • @aronoutdoors2486
      @aronoutdoors2486 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@seniorbrusko The aftermarket accessory supply for the Jimny is impressive and I think that was not emphasized in the video. I think people who enjoy the Jimny also want to personalize it and don't mind adding cup holders, etc., it's not for people who are not interested in doing that. The reviewer who should be praised for being thorough tells us near the end that he is interested in sports cars with tight handling, as such his conclusion that it's not for him is actually inevitable.

I guess engine performance is pretty adequate when driving on normal provincial four-lane highways. This thing is a forbidden fruit in a place where I’ll be living soon hence my desire to own one. with the current chip crisis, the war in Ukraine and the inflation caused by the war and the US and the West's dumb decision to enforce sanctions, it's not going to be so soon.
      And I doubt Suzuki PH and their distributors here will likely slash the price since Filipinos are, like it or not, very greedy and corrupt especially those in business.
      It has practically been the norm for Pinoy distributors to overprice the Japanese, Euro, Korean or American cars here.
      It's ironic that the nationality Filipinos in general and even the media has portrayed as very corrupt and greedy were the ones who actually broke the mold with their low prices and how they managed to find distributors who would accept selling their cars for the cheap.

    I daily drive a 2002 Jimny with a 660cc engine on island roads. I'm 6'1" tall and can just about squeeze my already long legs in the driver's seat. Shocking enough, there is an abundance of headroom. In terms of drivability, I go off-road all the time, and apart from a bit of back pain, vehicle is almost always unscathed, even after driving 3 miles across the ocean to another island. Around small and winding roads bordered by walls, a very safe vehicle. On paved and fast roads, I'm more likely to blow out the turbo. Fuel economy ranges between 6 and 16 kmpl, depending on a multitude of driving scenarios. Parking is effortless. 100,000mi and still on its original suspension. As small as it is, it takes a lot of skill to handle the steering.

    Again, Suzuki = purpose-built. It is not a family car, arguably not a road trip car either. Suspension and steering are stiff, by Suzuki standards. NVH won't be good by the looks of that frame.
    Definitely a mountain goat, perfectly put. Nonetheless, there are videos out there that this little guy are pitted against Jeeps, Benzs, and FJs and bested them on some HARDCORE off-road challenges.
    Practical? Nah. Iconic and and a true offroader? Oh yes!

    Have been driving suv or pickup on my daily routine. Months ago, I planned to buy smaller vehicle. Jimny is in my choices before. But I don't usually go offroad and I think it's impractical given it's overpriced, the cargo and the passengers allowed is sooo limited. In result, I bought Raize instead.

      If he only said wife and not supermodel wife, I'd be with you 💯%! Pero hindi eh. Supermodel wife sinabi niya. Meaning may context.
      The second part of what you said highlights it even more. Sabi mo "degrading [wives]", which he didn't just say wives. He said supermodel wife that can't cook to contextualize na you cannot have everything. He wasn't degrading wives in general. Context and mindset are key to perception.

    Seems to me the price increase is comenserate with inflation as well as supply and demand as you said. As for made in Japan vs India, if I had a choice I'd choose the Japan made vehicle every time.

    • @dickmelsonlupot7697
      @dickmelsonlupot7697 ปีที่แล้ว

      inflation has nothing to do with the pricing.
      even before the war Suzuki PH has bumped up the price and even made efforts to force potential buyers not to buy the Jimny because they have had a hard time keeping up with demand.
      the only time inflation has anything to do with the Jimny would be the manufacturing since parts, raw materials and the pricing for these objects when manufacturing the cars either in Japan, India or wherever plant they have will make their overall output to be low overall.

      It's basic economics, why not try researching or reading up on economics?
      You're a fool if you think inflation has a connection in anything.
      If you didn't know, basically speaking, inflation is just the rate of how expensive things have become due to multiple reasons with the usual culprit being fuel prices, currency exchange, supply & demand, status of raw materials (i.e. their prices, demand, supply, etc.) and any conflict that might affect the other factors.
      Inflation is *NEVER* used in pricing simply because of how unreliable and varied inflation rates are like how it could go up 150% tomorrow and then go down by 500% the next day.
