I knew you guys would enjoy this one, was looking forward to your reaction as soon as I knew you'd picked it as one of the March Patreon requests. Stormkeep really channel the essence of 90s Norwegian and Swedish symphonic/melodic black metal with an epic vibe that's really unsurpassed when it comes to newer bands doing this style of music. For a band from Denver, Colorado it's crazy that they can nail the sound as well as they do. I definitely urge you to listen to the full record, Tales of Othertime is one of the best metal releases of 2021 and I'm sure you'll dig it if you enjoyed this track. Some of the members of Stormkeep also play in Blood Incantation (who you reacted to way back in 2020 as a Patreon request) and the atmospheric black/folk metal band Wayfarer (who are a bit similar to Untamed Land in mixing black metal with influences from Americana/country music and Spaghetti Western soundtracks)
I know you have done some Sonata Arctica reviews in the past Jani Liimatainen just released a single with Tony Kakko singing and it brings back old school SA vibes for me because I thought they couldn't stand each other
if you want to hear the epitome of epic you guys should give moonsorrow a listen... a song called Jumalten Kaupunki.... guarantee you it's one of the best epic songs you will ever hear.
I don't really hear any of those bands here tbh. Stormkeep's sound is closer to mid-90s Norwegian and Swedish symphonic/melodic black metal. They sound like a mix of bands like early Dimmu Borgir, Old Man's Child, Emperor, Limbonic Art, Obtained Enslavement, Windir, Borknagar, Dissection, Sacramentum and Dawn to me. There's also a bit of influence from epic/atmospheric black metal like Summoning and more power metal-esque bands like Bal-Sagoth as well. In any case, Stormkeep are amazing regardless of who they're reminiscent of.
For me it definitely has a bit of a wintersunny taste (eternal darkness) and it is not a bad thing at all. Yeah Guys, kind of a heavy black power... hybrid... long story short if you're too lazy, this song grabs god's balls for you. Thanks Pedro!
Thank you thank you bois,,"the serpents stone" this track is not of this world,,BLACK MAGIC RECKONING!!!!🤟🤟 its black melodic dungeon metal fellas, "tales of othertime" is a brilliant album
