- Once again I'm back on my trusty Honda CB500X, aka "The Donkey" for another solo motorcycle road trip. On my last trip, I rode through Western Canada and while the overall experience was great, I was annoyed at how much traffic I encountered.
For this travel series, I decided to head south and explore the stunning beauty and unique history of the American Wild West, while trying to ride as many empty roads as possible!

Love it! It is always fun to watch people discover all the riding here and how diverse it is. You did a great job showing off some of the highlights of the state. The Alvord is pretty cool isn't it! Did you camp out there? Camping there is a very cool experience.
No I didn't camp. I was planning on going down at night to try and film some stars time lapse but that washboard road leading down to the playa was brutal, so I didn't get to do as much filming as I wanted to.

Before you changed your exhaust did you notice a rattle when at high RPM's while climbing the gears? The rattle goes away once the RPM's have gone down.
No, I never noticed that on my bike and I've had it high up in the RPM a lot on my trips.

That's an interesting shift lever at 4:24. Can you share any details?
It's a cheapo one that I bought off AliExpress but actually works well for positioning the shifter knob a little farther forward which makes it easier to shift with the boot on. With the stock shifter I found it hard to get my toe under it while wearing boots.
@@AnthonyJoh nice, I've ran into the same problem and I'm out of adjustment with the stock setup.
I'll try this before stretching my fabrication skills beyond their limits. Lol

@@AnthonyJoh I've been using Gaerne Balance Oiled to good effect with lowered pegs but I'd like to wear my SG10 motocross boots. Especially when riding alone. They've saved me on other bikes at least once that I know of.
Hello what year is the bike? i wanna buy one but i once read somewhere the "first" models was not the best ones and not that reliable (2013-2017)
Mine is a 2018. I haven't heard of any issues with the earlier models. I think the engine has been the same in all models.
