rx580 and 1060 were fighting 5 years ago, and now they r still fighting. almost nothing changed in the video card industry 8 gig is still the mainstream
Yep, and even much more powerful cards (up to a 3070ti) have 8GB of VRAM. In my (unpopular) opinion, it's still more than sufficient to run games without them having to look like complete trash. The whole "8GB isn't enough" controversy is just complete BS to me and honestly feels like the people saying it are just spreading FUD. I personally have a 3060ti and even Cyberpunk at high settings 1080p native/1440p with DLSS Quality doesn't even use more than like 5.5-6GB. It's literally just 3 severely unoptimized games that became the "cause for concern". However, seeing as 8GB cards are *still* being launched (RX 7600, 4060, & 4060ti - albeit with a 16GB model on the horizon). I'd say people need to understand that game devs will have little choice but to optimize their games so that 8GB cards will be able to play them, at least at "decent" settings. Otherwise people will more than likely just not buy them, since the majority of PC players are going to be using those cards (or previous gen cards like the 6600/6600 XT/6650 XT or 3060ti/3070/3070ti). Upscaling technologies like DLSS and FSR should also help out quite a bit too, although having to rely on those should be optional, not mandatory to play a game at 1080p. The 6700 XT (or even 6700) both offer more VRAM, but may be outside of some people's budget or an outright downgrade in rasterization performance compared to the 3070/3070ti. Either way, Nvidia's continued assertion on offering less VRAM for the money has me wanting to switch to AMD if/when they finally release RDNA 3 successors to the 6700/6700 XT/6800/6800 XT
I have a 580 8gb and i only play games from 2000 to 2019. Tbh, this graphics card do it's job very well, but when it comes to more intensive games (moden games), you'll prob have to lower the graphics and resolution.
1080p or 720p ? had rx 560 4G running on 1366x768, still plays anything as long the CPU can hold it and the ram is big enough, recently played RE4r and Hogwarts (both on low ofcourse)
Not all the games play that good even at 2019... Also some even very old games that were playable got unplayable for me after many updates and total graphics overhaul... Squad for example runs like a damn pile of crap on the new maps with water. Also I'm at 1080P and like 95% of games I can't stand FSR it makes everything look like vaseline and just isn't any good for 1080P, it works pretty good is like for a 4K TV to play from far away. I'm hopping to upgrade GPU and monitor to 1440P but sadly this gen there's still currently not a single good decently priced GPU cause it needs good performance, at least 12GB of ram and god damn PCIe 16x cause Im on PCIe 3.0. The current only cheapest option is a used RTX3060 12GB but it severely lacks performance specially for 1440P and much worse soon with most games finally moving to UE5 and any other game engine truly updated for next gen.
@@lordmoose213 That's weird, I played Control on my RX 580 8gb and the frametimes were great. What CPU you do you have, was it the 4gb card, which DX version were you using?
I got an RX 5500 XT 8GB for a little less than $100, and it is just an incredible card for the price I got it for. If you're looking for a used 1060 or 580 you might also want to look for the 5500xt.
Scored a 5700XT for $85 to put in my GF's build after watching "The Underrated RX 5700 XT". Solid 1080p card for a good deal. Thanks for the recommend!
With the RX 580, memory can be easily tuned with a bios mod. Providing better 1% lows. And with it you can use the Nimez Drivers, bringing modern dx11 optimizations and resizeable bar. So could be 5-10% improvement in optimized games.
Good comparison over all. I ended up sticking a GTX 1060 6gb in a budget build for a friend for his entry level gaming pc. They are still good cards given their age and price. Also though, should be mentioned, GCN era cards have a random visual bug issue with Plague Tale: Requiem on certain characters hair (neon color halo effect in hair).
Yup £50 for either of these cards ($60) is where it's at. For $150 / £125 - the RX 5600XT is FAR better. That's what I'd be reccomending for a budget used gaming GPU.
When I made the move to upgrade or sidegrade my RX570 8gb to a Lexindar RX580 2048 8gb I wasn't expecting any sort of gains but on average my fps count has increased by about 10% Thing too with the 2048's is whilst they are slightly hobbled they are to be found in brand new configurations with only the GPU chip itself being reused and everything else new. So on the face of it, a sub £60 8gb 1080p fairly decent card is very good in my book although I do wish I had gone that extra bit and bought the RX590 one which had full numbers but I am quite happy with my 10% less shaders or w/e and mine clocks nicely too using Afterburner so I could get the 10 per cent back in performance if I so chose.
AMAZING comparison! I've gone with an RX 570 4GB for my girlfriend's rig as it was a version that only needs 1x 8pin and limits at 120w (she has a shitty 400W PSU) and I am so happy with how these AMD GPUs aged. I would also add that as usual in the UK, the AMD card seems to be cheaper used with the 1060 6GB going for ~£60-£80 versus the AMD options going for £50-70.
Great stuff. One thing I noticed with The Last of Us, you mentioned you bumped up the textures on the Rx 580, but when the character you control (I don't know his name, because I don't play the game), I noticed the shadows on him are a lot more defined. Did you also increase the shadow settings or is there a slight change in time of day?
I’m away from my PC right now, but IIRC one of the higher memory settings is shadow resolution. On the other hand, it could just be the way AMD’s default profile shows colour and contrast. While making this comparison, I really noticed the difference between the footage from my external HDMI capture box when comparing Radeon to GeForce. The AMD always looks more saturated and contrasty (and, in RE4, way darker too).
Very interesting observation mate, there's a recurring discussion online about the differences between the default color profiles both GPU manufacturers use, and that might have something to do with it. BTW the bloke's name is Joel
Happy with the RX 480 Red Devil I bought a few month, especially since in 2023 I somehow was lucky enough to legitemetally buy a unicorn. Living in Germany might helped a tiny bit, but the point is: the Red Devil I bought actually didn´t mined for a single second in it´s entire life and that´s in freaking 2023! The guy I bought it of bought it new back than for his first DIY gaming pc and actually held onto it until this year despite obviously having enough money to upgrade every generation and I believe him since the monitor he was also selling due to finally upgrading was a 1080p/ 144Hz monitor lunched the same year as the RX 480, not a display any miner would have bought. And his 10 years old profile had 23 listings in all that time so yeah, after pushing sliders in Afterburner and running Furmark: my RX 480 8GB Red Devil is a legit unicorn in 2023, a 8GB GPU which haven´t mined it´s entire lifetime, freaking unbelievable.
Kind of how I've been rocking my RX 480 for seven years. The 4GB of VRAM was limiting me nowadays and just wasn't powerful enough with my CPU for newer iterations of DX12 and Vulkan, so I opted for a used RX 6600 XT and Ryzen 5 5600X for 2024. Here's to hoping it lasts me just as long.
This is a great time to jump on the last gen and grab something nice. 6800XT's have been going for $500 and 6950's for $600. Thats a lot of performance and vram.
Have been using a 3070 laptop with 8gb vram. Using optimissd settings and dlss I have no problems at 4k. The 3080 might be less than $500 which can be a better buy, ofc it depends
@@NamTran-xc2ip Yeah there's some good deals on Nvidia too, they are generally more expensive though which makes sense since Nvidia cards usually support more features and technologies but if its rasterization performance thats your priority the RX 6000 is pretty good value right now before they disappear. I have a 6800XT and a 3080Ti, I often do comparisons between the two. You'd be surprised how often the 6800XT almost matches the 3080Ti in rasterization while consuming a lot less power too.
I mean, it's a fair point, but you're asking someone who has approximately $100 to spend on a GPU to quintuple or sextuple their budget. That's a huge ask for that price bracket.
@@EbonySaints Indeed a person looking at this cards obviously doesn't have the budget for this cards. My suggestion for new cards to such a person is the RX6600. It will beat both this cards and can be found even under 200 new and also has 8GB Vram unlike cards like 1660 Super and 1660Ti that can perform also better than this cards but are limited to 6GB Vram. Also they are a little higher than 200 new.
Wow, that's cool. Everyone can enjoy gaming even with a small budget. What CPU do you pair them with? A Ryzen 5 2600/3600 should be a good pairing IMO.
I see both cards being pretty viable for at least another year or so then be limited to just esport titles and retro gaming. Been using the mxm version for the past two years and it has been solid plus there is still driver support for now.
honestly i see them being rather viable for quite a few years, even modern titles will work on them, if you lower quality a bit. i mean you won't be playing forespoken, but no one should be playing that garbage title.
I originally wanted a gtx 1070 for $110 or an rx 5700 for $145 (those are the average prices in my area, just converted to USD) but then i found an rx 580 8gb for $65 and that deal looked way more enticing so i just picked that up instead. I am upgrading from a gtx 950 so this is a huge upgrade, and my broke ass was very happy to save some money since it did take me more than half a year of painful grinding to earn my $150
I also found myself grinding over a year for a gpu I wanted so bad, the radeon hd 4870, and boy oh boy did it give me the best gaming experience I ever had to this day, maybe because I worked so hard to get it and i just wanted to play
Those Cards were actually amazing mid-range cards, that were always (ok, the first mining wave 2017/2018 not accounted here) somewhat affordable and get you a good gaming experience at all games between retro, casual and the newest trpple A titles. I've got a bunch of GTX 1060 3GB/6GB and RX 470/480/570/580 4GB/8GB (and some used 1070's) in the last couple of years to build in a used, affordable pc-build, that i've sold for cheap in my community (friends, family, colleagues, recommendation through friends etc.).Most of them are stil in use, because they meet their users expectations for the price, they got it from me. Those little machines are still capable of casual gaming and your dayly use. But today i also would recommend to go for at least a RTX 2060 or a RX 5500/5600 (or maybe a GTX 1660 Ti/Super), if you have gaming in mind.
If only AMD released non shit drivers at launch I remember in pascald Hayday the 1060 walked all over the 580, its a shame you have to wait literally years to see the true power behind AMD cards, still nice to see 580 owners get the last laugh
I've just moved from a RX570 8GB to a RX6700 XT in my emulation station. The RX570 did admirably in 1080p high in Windows AAA titles getting close to the 50hz max of my TV in some titles. At the used price these days it's a bargain
I kept my 390 till it broke, in it's last couple years it was held back more by my i5 6600k and 8gb of RAM. The fact that we are only seeing 8GB of VRAM becoming an issue recently shows how overly futureproof it was, especially with higher texture settings being designed for 4k screens while R9 390, RX 480 and 580 GPUs works best at 1080p in modern games.
That's practically the same computer I had! but with 16GB RAM. It needed a repasted and the computer is a family members computer now. It had some weird browser hardware acceleration bug that I managed to fix. I only got rid of it because I upgraded to a 1440p panel, it was really ahead of it's time.
My RX580 is currently running 6 2560x1600 monitors through a Thunderbolt eGPU enclosure. I love plugging in 1 cable and getting a wall of monitors springing to life.
Just got a new rx 580 brand new for $40, trying to build a budget gaming pc, what cpu and motherboard would be a good choice to complement this rx 580 as well as being future proof cpu and motherboard where I could just upgrade the gpu after a while and continue gaming with the cpu and motherboard that I’ll order now?
interesting results on infinite, i had a 580 previously alongside playing halo infinite pretty frequently and at medium 1080p i used to get 50fps average, and a bit above 60 on smaller maps, but on minimums it was above 60 regardless, take into account it was 2022 drivers too
I note the GTX has a 192 bit bus compared to the RX580's 256 bit bus and it does seem to show this in the return figures, that 64 bit loss plays out roughly about 5-10%.
@@max.racing That's really all it's worth, bro! This is half way through 2023! The 980Ti's were legendary I bought one new for £560 but that was then. Today they are 1080p medium cards, nothing more. And they get VRAM issues in their dotage. I've had two crap out on my with the same issue in the last few years.
I’ve seen brand new RX 580 cards finally back in stock in stores and finally back down to their original prices or lower. It’s been very tempting to get one to upgrade my friend, but he’s already got a 1060 6 GB lol, so it looks like not much would be gained. At least the games he plays with me aren’t that demanding.
Are you, ok? At 8:15 you were testing warzone 2 on different maps. Vondal is significantly smaller than Al Mazrah and runs better than Al mazrah. Thats why there is big gap between these 2 cards.
I'm good thanks mate. That doesn't match my experience, so I went back and did a few more runs using the RX 580 just now. There's a margin of error difference between my results in Al-Mazrah and Vondal (86.3 in AM vs 87.3 in Vondal). Maybe the bigger map is more demanding on the CPU, but I'm GPU limited here. Unfortunately I've since sold the 1060, so I can't go back and see if it does better in Vondal.
I sold my 1070 ti for 150$, bought a temporary used rx 580 4gb for 37$ saphire pulse thats working really well and after 2 weeks later I managed to get my hands on used rx 6700 xt asus dual for 212$ with 2 more years of warranty left so I guess I can say I'm a winner 👍
the GTX 1060 allowed me to delve into 3d content creation with blender and earned me loads of money and eventually upgrade my PC. I just love this little card, so much value, it's insane.
Just before COvid hit, and the subsquent huge price hike and shortage in GPU's, I was building a computer for my daughters bedroom, so we could play Stardew Valley and CatQuest 2 together. I found an eBay seller with Sapphire branded RX580 8GB's, that came in a plain box but with brand new shrouds and a 2 year Sapphire warranty, for £69 each! If you bought MORE than two, they were just £65 each! So I bought three. I had been using a GTX980Ti for a while, but it was starting to get flakey, one of the VRAM modules had errors which sometimes made the entire PC reset. So I replaced it with one of the 580's. The cards were mint - looked new. Then Covid hit, and prices started going mental. Once the 580's were selling for in excess of £300, I sold mine and the other spare card for £250 each on Gumtree (took just one hour to sell!) and then called my friend at the trade supplier. He sold me an RX 5600XT, with the BIOS update pre-installed, for £320. So I basically turned my original £195 outlay for three RX580's, into an RX 580 and a RX 5600XT. One thing I noticed is, despite the 580's only being like 5% faster than a 1060 6GB on launch, over the years as more and mroe developers used DX12 and Vulkan, that lead grew massively. Now they are about 25-30% faster on average than a 1060 6GB, and in some games like Dead Space 2 Remake, they are 100% faster (TWICE as fast!). Great cards. My daughter still uses hers.
@@Chrome_zzz Sigo ahorrando por algunas situaciones que he tenido familiares pero he visto en algunos lados de MercadoLibre que la RX 580 de 8GB puede ser un poco más barata que la 1060 de 6GB
Do have an GTX 1660 TI to test against the RX 580 8GB I am seeing a few GTX 1660 TI 's on ebay in the US for $100. Which one should I buy? Both are close to same price.
Always nice to see how these two lads fair against each other in time. AMD has proven time and time again to offer better performance for the price, but Nvidia has its advantages as well, with better encoding compression and support for ML and creative workloads. Though AMD's catching up! Competition drives the market bois, remember that.
Drivers are shit on old AMD sides. Lots of people are complaining about drives. Rx 580 8gb was always 5-10 fps faster than GTX 1060. In 2019, the magin was even bigger. In 2019's lots of title RX 580 was delivering more than 10fps than gtx 1060. But nowadays almost same as 1060 or 4fps better than 1060.
@@Sam-cq9bj I've been with AMD in my personal builds since the 7870 and have never had a problem with drivers. Only some issues with Magix Vegas, but it's up in the air who's fault exactly that was, as Davinci Resolve works excellently, and I did mention that Nvidia performs better in creative workloads.
@@Sam-cq9bj Did you even watch the video, or are you talking in general? Because if you're talking in general (RX 7900 XTX vs RTX 4090), then, I don't mind. I paid 220 euros for my RX 6600 XT and it's better than anything Nvidia I could get my hands on for the same price.
@@Woodnsus A DLSS 2.0 enabled RTX 3060 is faster than RX6800XT. You are not from this world. NVIDIA is offering the best gpu packed with the best software. 👌

I'm attempting to get myself a GPU in the UK that has support for H265 (HEVC) decoding mostly 4k for YT and for local files - I don't think the files/videos will be anything like the 4:4:4 nonsense or 10bit or 12 bit. Would the 1050 Ti at £60 be the best bet? I know I can get the cut down RX 580 with 2034 Shaders for £50 there or there abouts but my preference is CEX. I'm adding it to a 3570s cpu that can't cope with 4k 60 FPS on YT or local files without dropping frames on HEVC local 4k. Thanks for your continued theme of budget and used content on your channel. Subbed and thumbs up.
A 1050 or 1050Ti should be fine if all you need is video decoding, but also consider the Intel Arcs. They support more codecs, so if you can find one that’s affordable, and don’t mind working with a slightly idiosyncratic graphics card, an A310 or A380 is a good choice too. Here’s a site I look at for reference when it comes to video codecs and GPUs: www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/what-h-264-and-h-265-hardware-decoding-is-supported-in-davinci-resolve-studio-2122/
i can confirm these numbers for the rx 580, as that is what i was using since 2018, i only switched just now because the 580 has troubles with vr, but that's ok because my best friend upgraded from a 2080 ti to a 4080 ti, and he sold me his old 2080 for 300 dollars. massive increase.
The Rx 6600 is now the best follow up to these graphic cards, especially when it's under 200$ and you can do 1440 high and 4k medium in some cases. And it does it while having the same consumption as an GTX1060 or less if you undervolt it.
RX 5600XT was also amazing. Only problem was it's prices went nuts with Covid etc. The 6700XT is the new king of vlaue, and has been for years. Priced to compete with the 3060 but totally DESTROYED it, even beats the 3070 in some titles AND beats the brand new $420 4060Ti.
@@raresmacovei8382 Maybe in AMerica! Over here in the UK they sell for around £170-£200, depending on the model. That's around $190-$230 for you Yanks. STILL a good card though! But personally, I'd be looking at a 6650XT instead - same performance but far less heat + power.
Why does the 580 look like is having darker blacks and more intense colors. Sometimes it looks like the 1060 is on LCD while the 580 is on Oled. What is going on there?
In terms of raw compute, and games than can use it properly, the 580 is probably closer to a 1070 if anything. Speaking of, I got a 1070 for $75 with the only issue being a bad fan bearing. Bought a replacement set and it ended up being free after a dispute. It's a good GPU for my old games, but Stable Diffusion, text-generation-webui, and Starfield are making me look at upgrades. Sadly the VRAM/$ is terrible on newer cards.
Your not the only one I’m here doing the same this my 3rd video one said the GTX was better for the games I wanna play and the 2nd said the RX 580 was better 😂
My PC specs: CPU: Xeon E3 1225 V3 3.20 Gigahertz GPU: AMD Radeon RX 550 4 GB Sapphire Pulse GDDR5 RAM: DD3 12 GB (Regular RAM) 1600 Megahertz HDD: 2 TB Green Western Digital I can play Forza Horizon 5 on Medium to High settings and I get about 45 Average frames and the game only lags when it is night time while racing in the dirt with really heavy lighting. I also tried to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare II on it and let's just say it didn't go that well. I only got 30 FPS with fsr enabled and with really low graphics, I also tested it on State of Decay 2 Juggernaut edition and I got around 40 to 50 FPS average on the highest settings and with only 40 to 30 1% lows. So I would say that the RX 550 4GB is a pretty good graphics card for its age and I am truly amazed on how much load it can handle. I am also going to test it on Need for Speed Heat cause I haven't played that game yet so it will be interesting to see its performance. (I really don't use this PC to game that much, its my work PC so the specs are not good)
I just wrapped up my comparison of the RX580 and GTX1060. In my testing the 1060 benchmarks better, but the RX580 scores higher FPS in gaming (by a small margin). That said, the GTX1060 runs cooler and is 3x easier to find for a reasonable price. I assume that each game will vary. Also, as I mentioned in my comparison video, it depends on which version of each card you work with. For example, if you compare the best RX580 to the crappiest GTX1060 it is not a fair fight.
Hello Can you please do a review of either the i7 4960x or xeon e5 1660v2. I am considering upgrading from my xeon e5 1620v2 . The review would mean a lot to me.
I’ve never tested a 590, but as it’s only a process shrink from the 580 I don’t think it will be too much faster than this. Meanwhile, the 1070 is a whole lot faster- about 40-50% in Cyberpunk, Fortnite & Forza, 20% in God of War. Warzone 2 might be closer- the 1070 was faster in WZ 1 but it looks like WZ 2 really prefers Radeon.
it's very interesting how rx580 footage has consistently darker shadows than GTX1060-mostly to its detriment, since there are a lot of details lost behind that pitch black shadow. I suspect that the processing quirk that caused this darker shadow also caused the black spots on the Witcher 3 benchmark because those areas were considered as under a shadow of some sort.
I can confirm the 580 is darker. I switched back and forth between these two in my own system and was shocked how the colors and shadows changed. The nvidia is accurate. The 580 was way off but is corrected using custom windows settings.

I have an MSI Radeon RX 580 GAMING (Twin Frozr VI) 8GB, from day of release. It is just now showing its lagging in recent titles. This sits in a rig with an i5-6600k (no OC) and 16 GB DDR4 2400 @ CL12. Next rig I am planning, now that I have a job, is going to be all AMD. Your FPS for Cyberpunk 2077 is different form mine. I get 55-60, drops to 50 on high 1080p gameplay. I am happy with medium which gives me a solid 60. The only annoying thing is the fans, they are starting to make noise when spun up. I can't seem to figure out how to open the coils so can put some oil/grease in them. I think I have well used that thing.
Still use the 1060 in my second pc. It's the longest I've ever had a card. Still does ok but admittedly I'm not playing the latest demanding stuff. I remember being worried about spending so much on a card. Little did I know what awaited me 😂
RX590 is just an overclocked 580. Not a competitor of the 1070 or Vega56. But seeing a comparison between V56 and 1070 today would be useful! Perhaps 980Ti vs 1070 vs V56 vs 5600XT.
Either way if u ask me and i noticed in my own testing radeon cards just pop off the screen looking better than nvidia, u should compare rx 6000 to rtx 3000 in a video i would be very interested in a video quality and graphics head to head.
Can you test a overclocked RX 590 GME (Or otherwise known as RX 580 XTR) those chips are like 15% faster than the default RX 580 but can often be had for a similar price.
Got a 1070Ti the other day for 80€, so if one searches for it, there are offers out there to get a better value for cheaper. Had to spend an afternoon (using free public transportation though, so no added gas cost) to go and retrieve it, but it was definitvely worth it to me
i can't afford to upgrade my rx570 4gb that i got for 60 quid / 70 $ 3 years ago, but if i find an rx 5700xt for 80$ in my area, i'll eat instant noodles for a month and get it :)

The 580 actually pulls about 40-60 watts more than the actual readings if you were to measure it with a watt meter. It is very well known Polaris GPU sensors do not report the wattage pulled through the pcie x16 slot. The extra wattage is worth it though.
my friend has a 1060 and I had a 570. We were close on fps, his reported powerdraw was lower, but his overall system powerconsumption was higher, both on r5 1600. This could be due to nvidias notorious driver overhead or just the reported power draw not being correct. But I could undervolt my 570 by 185mv, then I was around I think 80w
In the need for a budget I ordered a RX 580 8GB for £78 from CEX. I'd be enjoying it now... had they not tried to deliver it to completely the wrong person 😀 Used to have an RX 580 years ago. It's more than enough for what I need.
That's interesting - I got an RX 580 8gb in June from CEX for £75 (currently $96 US) but I did collect it in person. Was a significant upgrade on my previous GTX 750ti.
@@davidpreston9909I was away when I ordered it. Otherwise I'd have collected it. Of course, you are limited to what they have in the shop at the time (although I think they will sent to different shops). It usually only takes a couple of days. Right now, curiosity had me looking at a Vega 56 for just £100. And now I'm waiting for it to arrive today so I can find out if a) It actually works (and not a dead mining card) b) If I can undervolt it and get massive power savings AND tweak it to overclock.

rx580 and 1060 were fighting 5 years ago, and now they r still fighting. almost nothing changed in the video card industry 8 gig is still the mainstream
fighting over the wheelchair that is
Isn't the rx480 the real competitor of the 1060?
@@marshal7969that’s a good question. I do think the 580 was a refresh to compete with Nvidias new cards (at the time the 10 series)

I have a 580 8gb and i only play games from 2000 to 2019. Tbh, this graphics card do it's job very well, but when it comes to more intensive games (moden games), you'll prob have to lower the graphics and resolution.
My rx580 did great at everything I threw at it until I played control. Did it work? Yeah. Was it stuttery? Also yeah.

@@lordmoose213 I'm playing control rn on rx570 4gb, and it's pretty smooth with 40fps lock on medium and low textures even on 8gb ram

Couple of months ago I upgraded from the 1060 to 1080Ti. Must say a HUGE JUMP UP!
Literally was looking for a recommendations for a cheap card this morning. Video came out at the perfect time. Love love love your work man!
Also though, should be mentioned, GCN era cards have a random visual bug issue with Plague Tale: Requiem on certain characters hair (neon color halo effect in hair).
i think in 2023 under 100$ ( like 60 -70$, not more) the rx 580 is the way
Yup £50 for either of these cards ($60) is where it's at.

The Angle of Light source was different. That's why. Look carefully.
Very interesting observation mate, there's a recurring discussion online about the differences between the default color profiles both GPU manufacturers use, and that might have something to do with it.

For context, the gtx 1069 6gb launched in july 2016 for $299 while the rx 580 launched 9 months later in april 2017 for $229
Just picked up a Sapphire nitro+ 580 8gb for $60. I think it's still a decent card for playing a lot of games at 1080p.
Fine wine for AMD! I remember when they both came out! The 1060 beat the 580 on most games!

A 1050 or 1050Ti should be fine if all you need is video decoding, but also consider the Intel Arcs. They support more codecs, so if you can find one that’s affordable, and don’t mind working with a slightly idiosyncratic graphics card, an A310 or A380 is a good choice too.

@@raresmacovei8382 i think people are still trying to sell them for more than they are really worth, no warranty considering.
6650xt will be and rx7600. Rx5700 200+ w 😂
Why does the 580 look like is having darker blacks and more intense colors. Sometimes it looks like the 1060 is on LCD while the 580 is on Oled.
What is going on there?
Just got a 1080ti for 130$ and im so thrilled to make a new build
beautiful video, was deciding between these two for my brother, 480 8gb cex is £65 1060 is £80
In terms of raw compute, and games than can use it properly, the 580 is probably closer to a 1070 if anything.
Me deciding which card should i get in 2024.
Your not the only one I’m here doing the same this my 3rd video one said the GTX was better for the games I wanna play and the 2nd said the RX 580 was better 😂
@@richardr2716 i think i would go for the GTX because of the power consumption. But it's hard to find the GTX 1060 nowadays.
Hi, can you please include at least one real time strategy game during tests ? Much appreciated.
I recently subscribed and I like you.
My PC specs:
CPU: Xeon E3 1225 V3 3.20 Gigahertz
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 550 4 GB Sapphire Pulse GDDR5
RAM: DD3 12 GB (Regular RAM) 1600 Megahertz
HDD: 2 TB Green Western Digital
I can play Forza Horizon 5 on Medium to High settings and I get about 45 Average frames and the game only lags when it is night time while racing in the dirt with really heavy lighting. (I really don't use this PC to game that much, its my work PC so the specs are not good)
RX 580 the nitro+ version is literally the best gpu you can get rn price/performance.
I bought it yesterday 😊
I just wrapped up my comparison of the RX580 and GTX1060. In my testing the 1060 benchmarks better, but the RX580 scores higher FPS in gaming (by a small margin).
That said, the GTX1060 runs cooler and is 3x easier to find for a reasonable price. I assume that each game will vary.
Also, as I mentioned in my comparison video, it depends on which version of each card you work with. For example, if you compare the best RX580 to the crappiest GTX1060 it is not a fair fight.
Hello
Can you please do a review of either the i7 4960x or xeon e5 1660v2. I am considering upgrading from my xeon e5 1620v2 . The review would mean a lot to me.
What u think abt comparing rx590 and 1070?
I’ve never tested a 590, but as it’s only a process shrink from the 580 I don’t think it will be too much faster than this. Meanwhile, the 1070 is a whole lot faster- about 40-50% in Cyberpunk, Fortnite & Forza, 20% in God of War. Warzone 2 might be closer- the 1070 was faster in WZ 1 but it looks like WZ 2 really prefers Radeon.
Su and Jensen looks strikingly alike in the thumbnail, I just noticed that lol
it's very interesting how rx580 footage has consistently darker shadows than GTX1060-mostly to its detriment, since there are a lot of details lost behind that pitch black shadow.
Oh man I hella love this channel
Maybe disabling TAA in Witcher would remove those black spots? I didn't play Witcher 3 very much so I can't say I know the game that good
My RX580 is still going strong. My FX-8320E on the other hand...
You sick man put that CPU out to pasture!
@@TheVanillatech Hell naw lmao, just clocked my FX8320E to 4.0ghz it runs like a dream with my RX580. Time did justice for the good ol FXs
@@Toxic2T The 8XXX series wasn't terrible. I'll admit that. But seriously bro, even my SECOND MACHINE has a 4790K @ 4.5Ghz. And I was thinking about replacing it with a Ryzen 3600 or something.
GET WITH THE TIMES ! XD
@@TheVanillatech Haha naw. The 4790K used costs almost 11 times more than what I paid for this 8320E. Intel is overpriced. Also, I wouldn't upgrade my whole ass motherboard and memory just for a Ryzen that costs almost the same as the 4790K.
@@Toxic2T Dude a 3600 + mid range board isn't expensive these days! And it's about a 30-40% speed improvement over the Haswell.
Get off the $1 CPU's, ffs! It's 2023!
I have both cards, and will be getting a 2nd RX580 to put in my other Linux PC. The 1060 will go in my Media PC for transcoding, etc.
The 580 has so many flavors to choose from, but i prefer the Sapphire Pulse and Nitro variants. Sleek, simple, and clean looking.
It's just me or wthe colors in the RX 580's gameplays were soooo much better? the more in the JEDI Survivor and CyberPunk...
A wonder how the 1060 somehow always costs more money
Little did I know what awaited me 😂
My RX 580 died recently and I legit bought a secondhand 1060 6gb as the replacement.
Considered doing an RX-590 v GTX1070 v RX-Vega56 ?
Bought my 1070 for 90 two weeks back. Let’s see that comparison
Got a 1070Ti the other day for 80€, so if one searches for it, there are offers out there to get a better value for cheaper. Had to spend an afternoon (using free public transportation though, so no added gas cost) to go and retrieve it, but it was definitvely worth it to me
RX580 8GB love = YES. I'm still on one I got new in 2019 and have been happy with it.
i can't afford to upgrade my rx570 4gb that i got for 60 quid / 70 $ 3 years ago, but if i find an rx 5700xt for 80$ in my area, i'll eat instant noodles for a month and get it :)
No chance of that! Sure you could grab a 5600XT for around $120 though without looking too hard. Cut someones lawn! Shit if you can't hustle $120 in a day in the USA, you can't do it anywhere! SELL UR ASS!
@@TheVanillatech im in eastern europe and i'm dealing with some health problems otherwise i'd go to the uk for work
@@damasterpiece08 So get fit and well and then cruise over here! Plenty of jobs here, especially around the coast in the big cities. In 12 months you could earn £24,000 if you went hard and fast. Live cheap, save. Build a damn fine PC.
Does gtx aero 1060 itx 6g is the same peeformance as the evga of yours?
I got a 1060ti found Nzxt g12 hybrid water cooler mount and im looking at doing a super budget extreme overclock on it ive seen impressive overclock on stock cooler so eventually ill get my parts box PC going
I have both of them, I'm currently using 1060, should I switch to the 580?
Sell both and get a 6700 XT, you wont regret it.
