Thank you so so much for your kind words and support! It means a lot to me because I watched all your videos and I have learned so much from you not only about cameras but your kindness and energy! I was so surprised when I saw your name leaving a comment on my video, I was like, is that the Omar Omar? Yes, it is the Omar Omar! Thank you so much once again and I wish you have a wonderful day because you have definitely made my day!
Just picked one up too! The silver version, and an additional 27mm f2.8 lens! Thanks, Omar (for the hilarious and super fun but also really good and insightful content! One of my fave TH-camrs!) and Henry (your reviews of the X-E2 really showcased its value and helped me make my decision!)!
You do so much that makes me happy when I watch your videos, like not blowing my ear drums out with loud music on the b-roll and showing examples that are not relevant to what you're actually talking about. I also love how you weigh out your pros and cons and don't immediately jump to a decision or create click bait anticipation. I hope you continue with videos I really enjoy them
I picked up a refurbished X-E2s from Fujifilm a few years ago now. It was like new and it was my entry-level drug to the X-System. Since then I've moved on to X-Pro cameras but I still have my little X-E2s and when the new 27mm f2.8 was introduced I scouted around looking for a good example of the first-version that was likely to hit the market as people upgraded. Got myself a mint condition one at a very reasonable price and it now pretty much sits on my X-E2s full time. It's my pick-up-and-go-camera when I just need to have something small and pocketable. So I definitely agree with your logic and conclusions.
This is the exact same combination that I chose to go for in April 2021, and for pretty much the same reasons. Like you, I went for the black model. I put a black wrist strap on it and it's almost invisible in my hands when doing street photography. Now, if only Fuji could make a pancake lens in the 50-56mm range, I'd be covering the whole of my preferred range with just two lenses. Aha! I've just seen that Omar commented. It was because of Omar and Chris Orange that I decided to go for this combo.
I got my X-E2 second hand for a steal and a 27mm new version... it's by far my favorite street camera! The only thing I wish is that 1.4 lenses could be lighter so I could use it in low light situations, but you can't have everything. FYI, I came from Ricoh-GR for over 15 years and not going back! Great video and thanks!
Bought my X-E2, new, in 2014 and, although other bodies have come and gone, it’s still with me. I have tried, really tried, to like the 27mm but I much prefer the 35mm f2. It makes it too big for a pocket but that’s the only downside. Great to see this wonderful little camera still getting some love ❤️
I have and love the X-E2s (same as -E2, but with all the firmware updates and a few external tweaks) and while I do have the most recent models/sensors, the earlier generation sensor has a real vintage rendering straight out of camera. I was lucky enough to preorder the new 27mm version and got mine on the first shipment before the supply issue made it impossible to find. I do use my aperture often and the addition of the marked ring on the lens really allowed me to get this current lens. The f/2.8 aperture has not been a problem, but I hit the minimum focus range fairly often. I accept this for the convenience of the size. All said, I can corroborate all that you said in the video. This is a fine combination even in 2021.
This is handsdown one of the best combos in Fuji. I sold mine and went to the X-70 because I wanted to go wider, but this is still my favourite combo, with some of my favourite straight out of camera looks.
What film simulation did you use for the greenish photo of the bus that you show twice? Don’t buy into the hype of the x100v and GR111. I had the GR111. It’s slow to focus and very fiddly to use so I got rid of it. Love your video
Great video. Started with the xe2 paired with the pergear 23mm f 1.8, great combo and pictures ..I switch to the XF 27 because I was missing the AF for some shots at weird angle ( zone focusing isn't the best at F2)
I got my XE2s on eBay for less than $200 with a couple Yashica lenses and adapters. I really love this camera. I use mostly Fuji lenses and sold the Yashica lenses. I have an XE1 , two XT-1'S and an XT-3. I find myself liking and using the XT-1'S and the XE2s the most. Like the quality and more film like look of the photos to be honest. I don't like the touch screen on any camera. I want to find another X Pro 2 and trade my XT-3 for it. These are really great camera's and I really can't see ever switching to another brand because I am very happy with Fuji. Also, I don't feel I need more mega pixels, the photo quality is great as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for a very thought provoking video about my favorite camera's.
I have the x-e2s and often pair it with the 18 f2 or 35 f2. There something special about the rendering. I don't feel like I'm losing any image quality in comparison to my xt30. The biggest difference is the AF, but not a big deal as I don't shoot sports. I love both cameras equally.
Thanks for the video about the marvelous Fuji X-E2. The sleek rangefinder body of the X100F fits into most pockets for street photography. I picked up a near mint X-E2 black body and found a new 27mm with an aperture ring. This has become my favorite set-up, with the X100F as a solid partner. Despite swearing off any more equipment, I bought another near mint X-E2 black body - with a used 16mm lens. I can actually get this into the pockets of cargo shorts. I’m based in Seoul - yet buy my used Fuji cameras from a store in Japan. The owner is honest and cares about customer service - plus no delivery charge.
Hi! I'm staying in Seoul for a few months, and was thinking about buying a camera here. Can you tell me who is the seller you are talking about? Thanks :)
Love this Chanel, such interesting topics and insights, keep up the great work! 🙏 i personally don't see the point of buying a camera with a fixed lens either, especially for that price, i just love having that changeable lens flexibility and therefore a fixed lens would be a deal breaker for me.
Just ordered the xe2 for $280 after watching this video :D I already have the 27mm 2.8 - can't wait to start shooting with it! I also have the D810 for professional work and XT2 as my B cam, the xe2 will be more of a travel / street photography camera :)
I shoot street photography with a few different cameras. One is the Olympus PEN E-PL1 with the kit lens that in full frame is 28mm to 85mm or something. I just keep it wide but I don't get up into peoples faces. Also I have the Fuji X-E1 and the 27mm f2.8 version 1 of that lens. With the X-E1 the auto focus is show so I zone focus set it at F8 and auto ISO. The other camera is my Panasonic Lumix GH2 and the Panasonic 14mm-140mm and I do really like those long sniper photos that people have no idea you are taking a photo they come out so natural. I only really recommend the Fuji X-E1 if you just like walking around taking photos and basic things the auto focus on this camera is trash. Only downside I heard of the Fuji X-E2 is the back of the camera is plastic until the X-E1 that is all metal body. But X-E2 has a electronic shutter that if you use it will live forever. One other thing that is not good about the X-E1 and maybe a few other early Fuji cameras is they don't have half press shutter lock that might be the wrong turn. But on my Olympus OMD E-M5 I can half press the shutter lock focus and exposure take a photo and if my finger does not full go back up and even if I move the camera a little everything is fully locked like auto focus and exposure. Maybe I can try back button focus to try and get that lock focus?
Nice video you are spot on, I have had two XE2 bodies but changed to the XE3 as it is vastly superior from a video point of view, however I always have an eye out for a good deal on an XE2 again...
Simple combo. Within that flexibility it's also possible to just have an XE body and only the 27mm. I'm considering this, agitated as I am with carrying and fiddling with kit. Thoughtful video - I thought I'd suggest that inflexibility could be good for concentration. I'm even thinking of switching to JPG only for a while. How mad is that?
I too, wanted the x100v, the XT5 is just a tad big for carry around/side strapped with the camera leash. x100v seemed like the perfect combo, but I ain't paying 3k AUD for it... Ended up picking up xpro2 and using the 27mm TTartisan I'm pretty happy with it, whole setup cost me a tad over 1000AUD (lens bought new)
I'm thinking about getting a G7X II for the price, size and flexibility, then you solve the problem of focal length altogether, although maybe sacrificing some of the image quality.
As an X-E2 shooter, EyE agrees with just about all you say with one exception, that being that EyE likes the looks & feel of the X-E2 more than the X100V..... Simply Stateful. ✅
Love the video and the comments too! I think it's great that so many are embracing perceived older tech and I too picked one up a few weeks ago with the kit lens and older 27mm. Had a few Fuji's over the years but always remember my X10 for the rangefinder feel. I recently also had the XF10 and whilst it had more mps didn't give me the same feel (and was limited to one FL) so sold that for this combo. Still have the 'should I have gotten X or Y' but trying to zone in on loving and mastering the gear I have. I also have a Sony A7III so this gives me a nice system overall.
@henrymediagroup How did you take about 400 photos with one battery? Is it still that good?I heard a lot of people talking about taking just 100 with one battery.
Great video! I'm taking a 3 week trip to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand in Dec. Besides my X-H2s, I wanted to take a small compact camera for the times I don't want to lug around my whole camera backpack. I've had the X-E2 since it came out, and loved it, but it's been collecting dust for a few years. Thanks in part to your video, I'm bring the X-E2 out of retirement!
If only they would release the pancake 23mm f2 they use on the 100V! They would lose a ton of 100V sales, but so many would flock to get the lens! I just ordered a used X-E2 in Silver this morning! I had the X-T30 in black, but sold it for the X-S10 (all of my gripes such as overheating, short recording limit, no ibis, not being able to switch out the battery or SD card when on a tripod, no grip, and no flippy screen were addressed with the X-S10!). However, the X-S10 is noticeable heavier than the X-T30! I missed the small and lightweight form factor. Plus, I also sold my 18-55mm for the 16-80mm, which is a bigger and heavier lens (the quality is great though! I don’t regret it!). Also, the X-S10 is only available in black, and I really liked the style of the X-E4/XV100, especially with the silver! So, I was looking into getting the 27mm f2.8 pancake lens for street (along with the 16-80mm, I have the 35mm f2) and to make my setup lighter. But when I stumbled upon Omar’s videos (he’s so funny and his videos are so fun to watch loll) about the X-E2 and its awesome sensor, and your video when looking more into the camera, I knew I had to jump on the occasion to get one! So now, I can’t wait to get my black and silver X-E2 and my 27mm pancake lens! It’s going to be my everyday carry! It’s the perfect setup, because I don’t feel comfortable bringing my X-S10 with me everywhere. It’s bulkier, and don’t want to risk breaking it or getting it stolen! Loved your video! You mention every thought I had about it, especially when comparing to the X100V (so expensive for a fixed lens!! I really don’t think it’s worth it!). Your pictures are also stunning! Keep up the good work! And cheers!
I just bought that exact combo. When trying to shoot long exposure in ‘T-Mode’ I can’t control the exposure time, as the little wheel right above the display is already used for the aperture. (no aperture ring on this lens) I couldn’t find an option to change the function of the wheel. anyone here who could possibly help me out??
No difference if you’re using the same lens. The sensors in both bodies are identical. The screen is a definite plus for me. I use my X-70 or X-100F for street shooting but for almost everything else it’s the X-T10. I’ve had it nearly seven years and it’s a bit beat up, but every time I think I ought to get something newer, I come up blank as to why.
I have an X-T1 which is very similar in specs to the X-E2, and I was tempted to buy a 27mm 2.8, stick it on the X-T1 and do street photography, however the X-T1 is about 300€ and the 27mm is about 250€ where I live, and while this is not really expensive for camera gear, that's pretty irresponsible to wander the street with 600€ worth of gear in your pocket, especially if you live in a city where the crime rate is rather high like mine. I was looking after the film look, and for the same price as the 27mm 2.8, I got the original X100 from 2010. It has a 12MPx sensor that is not X Trans, but the colors, and overall look of the images felt way more "filmic" and close to what my film camera was producing than the X-T1 which is already very, very good. X100 are really cheap these days, and if you can try one of those out, I'd definetly recommend. Yes, you have less resolution. Yes, the camera is painfuly slow, yes the menus aren't the most welcoming or with the most options. That brings you closer to a film experience to a point I'd prefer an X100 over a faster, more expensive camera these days. Oh, and by the way, the X100S is basically the same camera but with an XTrans sensor and a new processor. Bit more expensive at around 500$, but in that kind of price range, it is kind of unbeatable (leaf shutter, ND filter and OVF are huge features imho) on the topic of battery life, if you use mostly the EVF on the X100, the battery can last all day long. And extra batteries aren't really expensive nor big and bulky to carry around (they are certainly smaller than the NP W126 batteries) for focal lenght, you're right, longer ones are generally better if you don't want to bother people in the streets. I've even been using an 85mm 1.8 on my X-T1 with great results in a street environment (you just have to hide it the best you can, that's not always possible, that lens is big AF). On that matter though, you can use wide and teleconverters that are not too big on the X100 line, and they are pretty good. The wide gives you a 18mm equivalent, while the tele bumps it to 50mm equiv (basically a 34/35mm lens) great video btw
Those who are considering their first X-E camera. In my Humble opinion, Go for X-E3. It is better than X-E2 in every aspect. Plus faster AF, Acros sim, touch screen and 24mp! I have both and yes, X-trans II is not "special" so don't buy that BC.
So glad I picked up a used XE2 before they disappear!! Great video.

@@henrymediagroup :).
I just snapped one up
Just picked one up too! The silver version, and an additional 27mm f2.8 lens!

Background music is very distracting
Just got mine. My first fujifilm camera paired with a 35mm f2. I absolutely love it. It’s made me fall in love with taking photos again. Great video!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and supporting the video! Thank you so much for your kind words!
I love the way you started this video by “let’s get straight to the point”
Thank you so much! I'm so happy that you like the format of our videos!
I have an X-E2s with a Voigtländer 27 f2 for street and travel. I love it so much.
You have just made me fall in love with my X-E2 camera again :)
I’m glad that the video helped! Thank you so much for supporting the video!
Great video. I love my xe2 and 27mm. Most overlooked and underrated fuji camera. I would love to see you do a video of some in camera editing.
This is the exact same combination that I chose to go for in April 2021, and for pretty much the same reasons. Like you, I went for the black model. Try to find an XF10, it really is a pocket camera! And it's amazingly professional, you just have to learn how to use it!
I also tried, but can't with xf27 and sold it.
The result felt flat for me
Excellent review, Henry. Thank you.
You are very welcome! Thank you so much for your kind words and support on the video!
Hi! Very awesome review. I think, I will pick up one, in the nearest future. Thanks for sharing . Kudos.

I have the xe3,gonna pick up the xf27 tomorrow. 😎 Enjoyed the video.
Thank you so much for supporting the video! Good luck with your new lens!
Totally agree. I have the same street setup, X-E2 & 27mm👌

XE2 with 18mm f2, 27mm 2.8, and Viltrox 33mm f1.4 and you're set on the street.

Hi henry.. which lens you prefer after this combo? Xe2+27mm.. was thinking should i get a 35mm next or which focal length you feel is a must?
Tôi không thấy phần chỉnh White Balance Red Blue trên XE2s😢😢
I'm thinking about getting a G7X II for the price, size and flexibility, then you solve the problem of focal length altogether, although maybe sacrificing some of the image quality.

Hi henry, may i know what is your x-e2 firmware ?
That’s a great question! It is on the latest firmware, which is 4.11, hope it helps! Thank you so much for supporting the video!
Man... im still rocking my xt1 and xt2..
And cheers!
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and supporting the video! I'm very excited for you to get your Fujifilm X-E2 and the 27mm F2.8 lens too!
@@henrymediagroup No worries, I look forward to seeing more of your videos! Thank you so much to you too!! I appreciate the thought!
I use the same set up,cost me £350 for camera and lens,it has a certain magic.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and supporting the video!
Is there any difference between the X-E2 image quality and that of the X-t10? The X-t10 would seem to be the better buy and has an articulated screen.
How good it is for landscape photography?
It has a good sensor.
No love for Fujifilm X-E3?
Just bought a brand new XE2s and I kinda dislike it, kinda clunky to use and I struggle to see the film like files stuff, I am keeping it but idk...
mine too 🙂
As a beginner, I bought a new X-A7 with a Ttartisan 27mm F2.8 autofocus. What do you think, almost there?
What are your thoughts about the XE4? Would you still prefer the XE2?
Bit more expensive at around 500$, but in that kind of price range, it is kind of unbeatable (leaf shutter, ND filter and OVF are huge features imho)
on the topic of battery life, if you use mostly the EVF on the X100, the battery can last all day long. And extra batteries aren't really expensive nor big and bulky to carry around (they are certainly smaller than the NP W126 batteries)
for focal lenght, you're right, longer ones are generally better if you don't want to bother people in the streets. I've even been using an 85mm 1.8 on my X-T1 with great results in a street environment (you just have to hide it the best you can, that's not always possible, that lens is big AF). On that matter though, you can use wide and teleconverters that are not too big on the X100 line, and they are pretty good. The wide gives you a 18mm equivalent, while the tele bumps it to 50mm equiv (basically a 34/35mm lens)
great video btw
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and supporting the video!
anyone tya the zeiss 28 mm 2.8n lens
Those who are considering their first X-E camera. In my Humble opinion, Go for X-E3. It is better than X-E2 in every aspect. Plus faster AF, Acros sim, touch screen and 24mp! I have both and yes, X-trans II is not "special" so don't buy that BC.
What XE2 about for half the price of XE3 and then two lenses and memory card plus extra battery thrown in?
@@dangerrayy Perfect. I swtiched from 2x XE3 to 2 x XE2.
