ItsAGunpla hey Gundam, did you know that the in lore, Alex’s remains were stolen by an organization called Birnam? Birman was a private military belonging to Scharnhorst Buch...his family would later change their last name to Ronah, of which some family members would later go on to create the Crossbone Vanguard. The remains of Alex were rebuilt as the RX-78AN-01 Gundam Tristan, the Gundam the showed up in Mobile Suit Gundam: Twilight Axis.

War in the Pocket and The 08th MS Team have some of the best battles I have ever seen in any Gundam series or OVA. I legit shed a manly tear at the end of War in the Pocket.

0080 is such an underrated gem and yet G Gundam and Gundam wing somehow managed to be more popular.
Those two were made to cash in whatever is trending to bring in new fans to watch the UC series
It's not really underrated, it was pretty easily the top rated Gundam show on the recent /r/gundam poll.
G Gundam and Gundam Wing are popular in the US because they aired when we were kids, during Toonami's golden years. For a lot of people, it was their first real introduction to anime, even before Dragonball Z aired. At least, I remember being a lot younger when Wing was on the air. When people recognize my Gundam model kits, they usually refer back to watching Gundam Wing on Toonami. Gundam Wing actually wasn't that popular when it originally aired in Japan.
Truly a great gundam story and in just 6 episodes.
This channel is the unique that doesn't give me seasickness while watching.
Amazing job.. As someone new to gunpla. Would you think of doing a q&a some time? Few questions like why spray dark around the part edges after primer, before top coating?
that's called pre-shading and there are ton's of videos done by guys who have a better understanding of painting than I do. I just paint for fun.

Man I hope I can learn to paint as well as you do, even though you say this is not your best. It still looks so much better then out of the box snapped together. Great work hope to see more amazing tips and such from your channel.
Try airbrushing plastic spoons and cheap hg kits. This will help you develop greater control and pre shading techniques without the fear of "ruining" your more expensive MG kits. It actually doesn't take that long to get good at painting. ; )
Currently trying to talk myself out of ordering this kit. I've already got three unopened ones sitting underneath my desk right now but the incredible job you've done on this one is making it hard to control myself.
WHATISTHAT100 it’s a cool kit but he’s right when he sais a lot of people, even pros who’ve been doing gunpla awhile are breaking them even with caution, saw one guy on redit who clames he had pieces that were still attached to the runner but were blatantly snapped for whatever reason (probably exaggerated but still). Yes its a badass suit but do you wanna spend 50$ (correct me if im wrong on price) on a suit that will inevitably fuck you over? Personally I would lose my fucking shit if that happened to me which is why I refuse this suit despite how much i like it

I've never been interested or engrossed in a gunpla video for more than 10 mins until this came out of nowhere in my vid feed.. the information, narration, transition from 1 vid to another vid part was smooth as if it was done by a seasoned vid editor.. narration style was like a mix of Anthony bourdain (may he rest in peace) and Mathew perry 😁.. need a mojito to go with this vid..

Wow that hanger! I would love to see the GM Kai or the GM Custom in that. I will say while the gatling function was cool it had it's flaws. The recoil was terrible you would not be able to hit anything far distance.

Just finished mine a week ago. Sand down the wrists a little, they're super tight, I broke a hand because of that. It's a super impressive kit though.

Your best bet is to Ebay hunt looking for "chain base" or "mechanical base"
I picked up the cheap ebay junk I did videos on it. It will take a lot of work to make it look decent.
@@ItsAGunpla yeah, I picked up a few of the official kotobukiya and got a few of the Chinese knock offs from eBay coming (mainly for the add on parts they have). The koto stuff really are great, thick plastic, details are crisp. The knock offs are going to be labor
My favorite gundam is still 0083 stardust memory. Although ensign Eurake can be a pain. The first 3 episodes got so much heart it could be a movie. Shits amazing

The Alex design is really the golden standard design of gundam.
It's a good design, i got people who don't even "like" gundam, who say "oh the gundam alex" so that's all you gotta know. Plus i'm mad the movie treats the Kampfer with such disrespect.

The beam sabers size are mostly accurate. The length being pretty much spot on, however, the diameter of the beam saber is slightly larger than it originally was.

The MG Alex 2.0 looks fantastic, but only problems is the hand when I turn, it snapped off the ballpoint.

This was my favorite Gundam as well. I bought the 1.0 while in Okinawa this year and to hear about the 2.0 I was excited. The biggest issue I had was with the wrist joints as mine snapped. I am a novice still and am currently working on a RG MK II Gundam and I stupidly threw away some stuff when coming back from Japan.

@@matthewphilip2609 It's just interesting to note that the federation didn't have the psy commu (which was in the Zeong) until they defeated Zeon in the OYW. Amuro was just THAT good.
War in the pocket is my 2nd favorite after 8th MS team.
if it helps at all gundam the alex has the beam rifle and shield in gundam battle operations 2 on the ps4 so that kinda helps make it cannon lol

I didn't notice the obscenely tight joints in the wrist till it was too late. Both snapped and I didnt have the tools to fix them, for whatever reason the glue didnt stick. Luckily I returned it and got 60 dollars towards sazabi

They just released Gundam 0080 on Blu ray in the States recently -- within the last 2 weeks?
I got my copy in the mail.
One of the last big pieces of UC Gundam finally got its HD release. I have to watch it again... It's been years since I saw it.
Any of the Gundam "8" shows are worth watching. Heck, I'd recommend buying those before most of the other Gundam shows with the exception of the original Gundam OR the Gundam Movie Trilogy which is an easier to digest 6-hour version of the original TV series.
The model's nice but then again Bandai has been hitting it out of the park with most of their model kits for at least the last 2-3 years.
I feel so attacked when he dissed G Gundam😢, G Gundam was the first series I watched that got me into Gunpla😁
For fans of UC and especially _Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket_ , the MG RX-78NT-1 Gundam "Alex" (Ver 2.0) is definitely a god-send.
It needed an updated MG quite badly as the original is very dated; being that it came out in 1999.
However, I think that Bandai has plans to use this release as the basis to release a bunch of Premium Bandai variants including:
- MG FA-78-NT-1 Full Armor Gundam "Alex"
- MG RX-78AN-01 Gundam AN-01 "Tristan"
Maybe even more obscure but fan favorite mobile suits like:
- MG RX-80PR Pale Rider
- MG AMX-018［HADES］ Todesritter
Anyway, I am very impressed with your work on this GunPla.
You definitely know what you're doing and you're very skilled!

@xxnike629xx That's why you should build your kits. You claim that you always got negative feedback. If the reason is your mediocre building skills, you can fix that by building more kits, you'll be able to sharpen your skills as you build more.
Also, you should stop those things that made you a pariah among the Gunpla community.
Now if only they can show some love to one from 0083. The GP02a Physalis MG is in dire need of a 2.0 or RE 1/100 remaster.

The Alex used to be my favourite MS and I had the old MG kit from when I was a kid but holy fuck was that thing horrendous. Bandai tech has come a long way
Edit: Okay now I know why the decals on the armor stuck out to me so much, they give you sub par stuff and theres nothing out there. I knew if I noticed you'd be annoyed by it

I wonder if you could use Cerakote on the giants? It's a ceramic that doesnt affect the dimensions of the object you're working on. It's popular with knives and firearms customization.

Damn dude. I didn't want this kit at first because I thought the armour looked dumb and if feel like I'd be wasting it if I didn't use it but your paint job is outfuken standing. This is making me want to buy it. Did you just pre-shade or did you do some highlighting too? I'm working on my first painted kit which just so happens to be my second ever kit. It's the MG RX-78 2 3.0. I went all out and got an airbrush setup and I've been living in debt for like 4 months now. I also bought 5 more MG kits to work on so I'm good for like the rest of my life. But yeah I want to paint like this. I think I'm gonna subscribe now.
The other kits I bought are Nu Gundam ver ka. Ball ver ka. Johnny ridden's Zaku 2.0. RX78 2 ver origin. And sazabi ver ka. I'm thinking of doing a super high gloss paint job on some of the parts on the Sazabi and I've been looking into it and I think the best bet is to do chrome with clear red over it. Any advice on going high gloss by anyone would be very appreciated. For the Origin RX78 I think I'm gonna do it in black and white. And make it look like a page out the Manga. Or do a very washed out paint job and make it look like the cover art from book 1. Not sure in that yet though.
For darker colors I use a painting style called the MAX method or Balck backing mixed with my own highlighting style I currently call "OVERKILL" I've been doing this since Sazabi ver kai. that kit was around 9 shades of red that you could only see with an HDR camera LOL otherwise it looks like 3 to the naked eye. The Chobham armor is about 3 or 4 shades of gray
@@zangetsu_3854 to get a high gloss you are going to need get your mix right with gaia gloss & Mr Color GX clear. Both work great once you have your spray down you'll need TAMIYA Compound(3-type), Applicator Cloth, Modeling-wax Set. I've tried using compounds I had leftover from painting motorcycles it only strips the paint learned that the hard way. the absolute best clear I have seen for scale models is this two-part mix similar to 2k clear forgot the name of it I think it's a urethane paint. But that's a bit advanced for where you are right now.
@@ItsAGunpla Yeah I just ordered the 3 Tamiya compound pastes. I understand that I also need to sand the primer and all the other layers to make sure everything is super smooth before I add another layer. The main reason I picked up Johnny Ridden's Zaku was to practice before I did the Sazabi. I think I'm gonna buy the metal parts set for Sazabi and Nu Gundam and have them together as one masterpiece. I think I should have the hang of it by then. This is my first experience with painting and I'm enjoying it. It's definitely therapeutic. I just finished all the pre-shading on my RX78 last night. Not sure if you're supposed to pre-shade every single tiny part but I have. I'm just winging it and learning as I go. Hopefully it will turn out cool. I've got some panel line accent stuff for the panel lines but I think I'm gonna need to look into how to do a proper wash. Im not using the shiny stickers either and I think I'm gonna hand paint those parts. My first kit was the full armour gundam ver ka from thunderbolt. I only finished that recently but I think I might take it apart and paint it at some point. I wish they'd make more MG kits from that series. Unpopular opinion but I think the Atlas Gundam looks awesome. Or some more MG kits from The Origin series. A MG mobile worker would be sweet. Anyway thanks for the advise. Some paints seem to be impossible to buy here in the UK so I had to order all my Tamiya enamel paints from Taiwan or someshit. I'll take a look at the ones you've mentioned. I've heard good things about the Alcalad metallic paints too.
