Hi, I'm Rick (tall big ears) & sometimes I'm assisted by Lee (short wonky eye)
From late 2023 onwards the channel will need to diversify to survive, I find myself less able to commit to cars alone on here and more interested in general life experiences, so on the channel you may also see what I get up to in my life, or just see me chatting nonsense.
Be assured I'll always make the title and thumbnail appropriate to the video so if you're only here for the cars or trains you can ignore the rest. I currently own and run 2 older cars, AGATHA is a 1978 Austin Allegro 1300 Super & FIONA a 2003 Ford Focus TDCI. I do use a modern car too which is occasionally featured (It's a Kia) and a van (Fiat) The van can be found on it’s own channel “Rick and Heather Campervanners”
Lee's cars also make occasional appearances as do a few friends cars.

Thanks for the update Rick, sad to see the state of these cars, but thats the generation we live in, just hell bent on vandalism on other peoples property.

Yeah the shell probably is worth something
The mentality of some people, i wouldn't damage anything belonging to someone else. Over here, they'd have been towed away by the knack knacks and sold as scrap along with the metal fence 🙄🇮🇪
Ha! Yeah it’s bad really. There has to be some sort of motive behind the garage being empty for so long yet still registered on company house….
Back in the late 80's there was a Beetle in the far right bay which was still there in 1998 when I left the area. They never seemed to shift a lot of cars, I lived on Meynel Street just round the back of this for a while. Chris.

That’s a shame but then I guess to be expected, there’s no form of security on site, the site is open to vandals.
I checked the MOT history on the Cavalier and suprisingly the details came up, it had an MOT up to 2012 and then failed on corrosion and a few other bits, the Maestro had been off the road a lot longer, both as you say are beyond saving, although if you watch Matt from Furious driving he has a project on the go that most would have given up on now…The rotten Mercedes I’m thinking of.

Great to see an update on this place although its sad to see what a state the cars are now in! I'm surprised nothing was done with them after they started to tidy the place up last year. Definitely beond saving now I rekon. Thanks for the update Rick. Hope you have a great Christmas!

Looks like the local brains trust has paid them a visit. We're all doomed aren't we? My Mum had a '77 Mark 4 Cortina 1.6L estate in hearing-aid beige from there many years ago.

When I moved to the area in 2004 that was already abandoned and it's only got worse over time, it's quite a large plot and surprising the owner hasn't been tempted to sell it for housing.

Still think the Maestro is not beyond saving...if Oddy wasnt depleting my funds I would be all over it...recently visited my Son and Family in Church Gresley and my Son always took me past this garage as he knew I loved old classics, but didn't get chance to fly by this year...thanks for the update Rick, Merry Christmas to you and your Family...oh and not forgetting Agatha...😁

This is so sad. I was going to suggest the damage is just a passer by but the fact someone has stolen the Trims off the cavalier (which are getting duffucult to get) suggests someone who watches these videos or has seen in the media the existence of this abandoned garage and took full advantage. Sad individuals but at the same time - what is the mechanism for enquiring after the cars when the owners presumably are not contactable in the usual way since its a defunct business? Next time you go - Maestro Trims next. Getting harder to find without the Austin River Logo on.
On one of my 1st visits I gave details of the company (still live on company house believe it or not) and their phone number which still exists.
I did a search on the little Skoda Favorit it was taxes until 2019 so they must have sold some at some point in the 12 years
Yeah a few got sold over the years.
It's a real shame, you see some old garages with cars still inside in other countries and there kept locked away without vandalism, yet in the UK it seems that an abandoned garage or any type of building is somewhere for people to go and vandalise/steal from with no real reason other than there "bored"... it's a real pitty as these now could end up scrapped just because of the damage caused when previously they were pristine as close to original condition.

It doesn't surprise me that the former garage has been vandalised as some people have nothing better to do. It should have onsite security until it's demolished but i bet the owner won't do that due to cost. I bet the windows were original on both cars with the reg's/vin numbers etched on. Can't see the Cav being saved as it's a poverty spec model and nothing special but i think the Maestro would have more chance of being saved due to it being rare now and bodywork wise not bad. At best only a donor though

Looks very flimsy but seems to be built very well.
What the hell did you all expect ..these cars were jut left ..out in an unsecured site .. they should have been moved and stored more securely if people didn't want then damaged ..
