It's deplorable what happened to Laken Riley. She was targeted by a predator who should not have been there. Like it or not, that situation will only worsen, and people need to be prepared, especially our young daughters. A smartphone won't protect you if a vicious wild animal attacks you while jogging alone in the woods. You must have situational awareness, a suitable tool to defend yourself, be skilled in its use, and have a strong will to survive such an encounter. Remember, it's always better to dispatch a predator than to become its prey.

I may only know of Laken, because of her death, but because our daughter is an RN, I know the contribution she would've made to her community. Our daughter worked with babies, and was very happy doing so, but now she has found her true calling; working with hospice. We need compassionate RN's., and I'm positive that being in Athen's, she would have been the same as our daughter.
