This is so enlightening! We have something similar in Nigeria called "aboliki" and "Robb" which are basically menthol based just like Vicks - some people swear by it for colds, aches and pains you name it🤣
Puerto Ricans too!! "Ponte vEEEx" Words from every ma, abuelita y tía... shit ALL the women😂😂. Don't forget la sopa con esprite that shit was the BOOM!
I'm not a doctor that (*something?*) when you want me to do Y'all I'm not a native Spanish speaker I just like the language 😂 can someone tell me if I was close?
Dude, my dad is a real one. Growing up, even now as an adult, if I ever felt really horribly sick he’d go and take me to the ER en la madrugada even if he had to work at 6 am the next day. One time he spent $300, and 6 hrs with me at the hospital and the stomach pain I was having was just un pedito atorado 😂 I felt so guilty, and I cried because I knew he had sacrificed a whole night of sleeping & like a weeks paycheck on me over a fart. He hugged me & told me that it was okay and that no matter what he would always make sure that I was okay, everything else comes second 😭❤️
Told her what? My mom told her that soup is for when she’s sick. We both have told her she can eat it whenever she wants. Idk how convinced she Is about it yet
The girl was right. I know because my mom used to make it whenever I had a cold. So now as an adult sopa de pollo cures everything. And Vicks vapor rub. Those two and you are good to go.
I use Vaporub to relax my chest muscles when I get panic attacks as well as to fight off migraines. Abuela wasn't kidding when she said it cures everything.
The phone is so accurate. Me: i have a headache Mom: cause you’re always on that phone Also mom: gets migraines but is hardly ever on her phone Me: a few weeks ago my hands were numb and tingly, and randomly twitching. Mom: cause you’re always on your phone!
Yafreisi Segura I’m not Latina but this is me 😂 it’s starts normal with a tea bag and then next thing you know there goes the ginger, sage, turmeric, lemon/lime, etc 🤦🏽♀️
My family is Ecuadorian and Native American so sometimes when I was sick my mom cut red onion, sugar, honey left near the a open window overnight. That was the best cough/ mucus medicine ever, so sweet haha. Thank you mom💕
Army Ecuadorians are already Native American(meaning native people from the americas) so no reason to say it do you have spainish(European) blood in you
For Jamaicans its drink some tea. I literally sprained my ankle once and my mom said get up make some tea and drink it, but surprisingly I did feel a bit better, so I guess it does work. There's also the option to drink lime and lemon juice ( squeezed lemon and lime mixed together) but I'm pretty sure every Jamaican chose tea instead
My grandma would always say "hechate Vick's" that was her solution for everything. So one year for Christmas she wasn't feeling well, as a joke I gave her Vick's vapor rub. I'm glad she had a sense of humor about it tho.
*After my eldest brother passed away, my mom became a worry-wart. When, I'm tired, I tend to snore. Well, one time, I fell asleep on her couch, and . . . she woke me up, because she was worried that I was snoring so loud. She thought I was sick or something!* 🙃
Lmfao. Whenever I was sick my mom would be like as long as you don't have a fever or stomach virus, you're going to school. Even sometimes with some serious coughs and sometimes colds. It was awful. Although my grandma always got my back with some soup, garlic and medicine.
Vick's oh yeah, that brings back memories. I remember my grandmother was the one to take care of us when we were kids. Another trick she used was baking soda. Upset stomach? Baking soda and water. Bee sting? Baking soda. Toothache? A dab of scotch. Sunburn? Go get some aloe leaves from outside. She'd baby and pamper you until you got better. RIP Nana 💖
Literally sick right now, and I don't wanna tell my mom because she has already seen me literally cough my little heart out ❤️, and because there's no point to it. Like I'll get better, there NO school to miss, so... Why stress over it?
I always took care of myself and everyone else that got sick in the house from my mom to the dog and still to this day almost 40 years old till never get a break from doing it all even on sick days
When you are sick sick, my momma would put vapo on the bottom of your feet then socks over them. WORKS! I did it to my boyfriend and the next day healed. He was so shock.
I used to have this done to me when I was sick as a kid. Sometimes during winter, she would heat the Vick's so it was soft and warm before putting it on my feet. I can the toastiness right now.
Growing up with a puerto rican mom, I felt what Gadiel and his sister went through. In her eyes, you werent sick unless you had to be sent home from school. One time my grandma made me go to school withs a sore throat, turned out to be strep..another time I was sick and coughing my lungs out mom didnt care still went to school..the school sent me home and made her take me to the doctors, it was bronchitus. Heck once I was sick and the school could not reach my mom for anything(she was at work at a resturant and they must have been busy) the principal ended up having to drive me home and even tho no one was home I knew where the spare key was so I let myself in..yea growing up you werent ever allowed to stay home from school...if they didnt send us back we werent sick enough.
gracias por hacer contenido que no tan solo es chistoso sino un reflejo y una afirmación de nuestra cultura, viva y candente sin importar de que lado nos encontramos. latinxlove
I remember i got sick one time when grandparents were at my house so it would be my dad, mom, grandma, and grandpa all doing different things to make me feel better and it was one of those cold that make you really sick
I always try to hide when I'm sick because my mom will always blame me and be angry about it. I don't usually get sick, I've been totally healthy for a year now (seriously). But she will still be mad at me. She always tells me that she won't take me to the doctor but at the end of the day she always does xd Edit: forgot a word haha
Mis resfriados cuando niña eran: agüita de eucalipto y manzanilla con limón y miel y Mentolatum (Vick's chileno), also spread on the chest, nose and nostrils.
Lipton soup was the standard "I'm sick" soup at our house. Sopita bag (we called Maruchan noodles that) was for a regular day. My Abuela would also make us a soup with either rice or noodles, pollo and potato in it. Soup and clear soda (ginger ale, 7-up, or esprite) was the staple. Also, Vick's all day. Screentime was limited, too. No ps1 or computer because they didn't want to risk headaches. Watching lots of Nick Jr, however, was okay. XD As I got older, she or my abuelo would make me a tea with ginger, canela, cloves, and anise, sweetened with honey. Now that I'm moved out, I still make that tea when I'm sick.
In middle school, I would complain to my mom about having a bad headache. She bought me McDonald’s after letting me stay home. Idk, but my Latina mom is bomb.
My mom never believed me, no matter what, but if I had an ear infection, row infection, whatever, she’d wake me up on the middle of the night with hot water compresses. I hated that!
My pop always made soup, had me drink seltzer, rubbed vicks and alcoholado on my chest, back, arms, legs, and forehead. Wrap me up like a burrito in a big quilt. The icy-hot feeling was always uncomfortable at first, but I always fell asleep, sweated it out, and woke up feeling better.
Me: mamá, estoy enferma. Mom: No, no lo eres. Ve a la escuela. Me: tengo náuseas y me duele la cabeza. Abuela: ¿Por qué no cuidas a tu bebé? Mom: Cállate mamá, ella no es tu hija Abuela: Irrespetuoso, ¿sabes que algún día no estaré aquí?
Every time one of the family members has and infection in their mouth or get blisters after a fever she always mixes lemon honey and carbonato and she’ll start rubbing that against the sores till they bleed... worst feeling ever😖😩
My mom uses a tomato to remove tonsillitis 😑 It's gone in a minute! Also yerba Buena with rubbing alcohol and green tomato and some Vicks 😪 and aloe for cuts and mayo on burns
Algo más que siempre hacia mi ma es dar me un masaje en la espalda y las piernas. Pero que tipo de masaje era porque siempre lloré cuando me la haciera
My mom would always send us to school and tell us, “if you’re really sick the nurse will send you home.”. I can’t tell you home many times I threw up at school, at my desk, on my teacher. Kathy didn’t care, didn’t happen at her house so we weren’t really sick 🤦🏻♀️
Loved hearing these remedies since they ring true. My mom's cures & treatments included Cod liver oil every morning, honey mixed with fresh lemon juice for coughs and throat ailments, onion syrup for flu (don't know how to make it but, avoid like the plague), Vicks (until someone scared her into thinking it caused asthma..smh), coffee with lemon juice, a bowl of black bean soup. Idk where these "home remedies" came from but, I'm still here so maybe there's something to it all.
My Nana would take care of me when I was sick. One time she had sent my Tata to Tijuana to get me some medicine (it worked for me really well) and he took hours. He wouldn't answer the phone, nothing. It turns out, he met with my Dad and Uncle and they went to the casino in Tijuana. In the end, he didn't even buy the medicine for me. But my mom came through and got me something to help at 3am.
And now they always blame the phone for being sick 😂
Ariana Gomez yessss lmaoooo

Ella Everitz soy boricua and my mama gives me vaporub so I think it’s a Latino thing as a whole
This is so enlightening! We have something similar in Nigeria called "aboliki" and "Robb" which are basically menthol based just like Vicks - some people swear by it for colds, aches and pains you name it🤣
Ife O. That’s crazy that just shows that people of different races and culture share similar things.
*vapurru 😂
Puerto Ricans too!! "Ponte vEEEx" Words from every ma, abuelita y tía... shit ALL the women😂😂. Don't forget la sopa con esprite that shit was the BOOM!

Vívaporú.
Omg same! I’d literally have one in my backpack😂😂
Dude, my dad is a real one. Growing up, even now as an adult, if I ever felt really horribly sick he’d go and take me to the ER en la madrugada even if he had to work at 6 am the next day. He hugged me & told me that it was okay and that no matter what he would always make sure that I was okay, everything else comes second 😭❤️
🥺😭
La sopita de pollo is the truest thing ever😂
Emily Garcia my 4 year old thinks she can only eat soup when she’s sick, for this exact reason. She refuses to eat it if she’s not sick.
Jazmin Estrada oh have you told her?
Told her what? My mom told her that soup is for when she’s sick. We both have told her she can eat it whenever she wants. Idk how convinced she Is about it yet
Jazmin Estrada oh
The girl was right. I know because my mom used to make it whenever I had a cold. So now as an adult sopa de pollo cures everything. And Vicks vapor rub. Those two and you are good to go.
I use Vaporub to relax my chest muscles when I get panic attacks as well as to fight off migraines.
Abuela wasn't kidding when she said it cures everything.
I definitely want Curly's quote "Adios, mis papas fritas" as a ring tone. In his voice!
The phone is so accurate.
Me: i have a headache
Mom: cause you’re always on that phone
Also mom: gets migraines but is hardly ever on her phone
Me: a few weeks ago my hands were numb and tingly, and randomly twitching.
Mom: cause you’re always on your phone!
Wow, are you okay though ?

JahnyeLashae i still put a little bit of Vick’s in my nose lol
I used to hate it but now I love it 😂
Roslyn Marrero me too 😂

@J Luxe I know, it's sweet the way he loves his sister's.
I need a gif of curly right now saying "make everthing great" 😂
I was wondering how long it would take for Vicks to pop up! 🤣🤣
My mum literally only had 2 moods for me sick: "Stop making this up" and "stop hiding that you're sick." Never in between.
I love the adios mis papitas ftitas 🍟🍟🍟
That’s so true!!! My mom would take care of us to this day!!! I love all the personalities! Curly is so funny!
Damn y'all forgot "hierbabuena" lol.
My Puerto Rican grandmother's solution to everything was Vicks y Agua Florida....😜😜😜
My family is Ecuadorian and Native American so sometimes when I was sick my mom cut red onion, sugar, honey left near the a open window overnight. That was the best cough/ mucus medicine ever, so sweet haha. Thank you mom💕
Pixelswave20 my mom just gave me vicks 😂😂 and I’m also Ecuadorian
Army Ecuadorians are already Native American(meaning native people from the americas) so no reason to say it do you have spainish(European) blood in you
Branson Jallim were Incas not native America’s Learn the difference she might be half for her parents but we’re not native buddy.
My mom would boil an egg on alcohol and put it on my forehead ??? Lol
I'm so blessed with the mom I got..
Boii have yall not heard of these vapooru cough drops, their AMMMMMAAAAZINNNNNG
Me: Mom, I think I have the flu
Mom: Poner el Vicky's? *shoves Vick's onto chest*

My grandma would always say "hechate Vick's" that was her solution for everything.
So one year for Christmas she wasn't feeling well, as a joke I gave her Vick's vapor rub. I'm glad she had a sense of humor about it tho.
YASS CURLY!!! when ever i was sick she would tell me Tylenol and vicks were the to go medicine trick

The frog saying is so true for my grandma.
My mom will give me Vick’s for like everything and still makes me go to school also she would always give me agua con sal for everything
Lmfao. Whenever I was sick my mom would be like as long as you don't have a fever or stomach virus, you're going to school. Even sometimes with some serious coughs and sometimes colds. It was awful. Although my grandma always got my back with some soup, garlic and medicine.
We call it Vick’s too! And yes, inside nostrils and eating it was a part of it too 🥰 we SURVIVED
My mom is basically Gadiel’s mom when I’m sick she would like oh well but when one of my siblings is sick she be all up on them.
RIP Nana 💖
Desde España apoyando el vicks vaporub, mi madre y mi abuela siempre tenían reservas en casa por si acaso y también me lo ponían en la nariz :D
Dude my mom always is sarcastic. One time she was like " What wanna go to the hospital?" And I was like "yesss" and I had actually broken a bone.
Literally sick right now, and I don't wanna tell my mom because she has already seen me literally cough my little heart out ❤️, and because there's no point to it. Like I'll get better, there NO school to miss, so... Why stress over it?
My parents want to take me to the doctor for every little abnormal thing they notice, but when I ask them to take me they completely ignore me
Omg this is so true!! I love this channel❤️
If I ever got a cold, my mom would be like “Ya Vez? Te dije que te pusieras un Suéter!!!” I was like uhhhh no mom 🤦🏽♀️
3:55 I had to wait for my parents to go to work before I could listen to music or just use my phone in general
Earrings are on point Maya.
I always took care of myself and everyone else that got sick in the house from my mom to the dog and still to this day almost 40 years old till never get a break from doing it all even on sick days
Curly out here calling people French fries and I’m totally ok with that 😂
1:39 I felt this on a whole different level 😂
All the way to the curly & more was explaining the vibaporu 😂
Those Latino parent types are from the late 80's. The only ones doing this are those OG grandmas.

I got it as “sana sana colita de rana si no muere hoy morera mańana”😂😭
gracias por hacer contenido que no tan solo es chistoso sino un reflejo y una afirmación de nuestra cultura, viva y candente sin importar de que lado nos encontramos. latinxlove
I'm not Latino, but this is hilarious. Latinos are close-knit families and they get stuff done. Much love.
my mom would be like ‘No te estás perdiendo la escuela. ¡Será mejor que te prepares para la escuela!’ every time i get sick!
My mom was always loving when I was sick . Lover her so much. ❤️
I remember i got sick one time when grandparents were at my house so it would be my dad, mom, grandma, and grandpa all doing different things to make me feel better and it was one of those cold that make you really sick
My mom always gave me that bubblegum medicine😂
It's called peptol bismol.
GOTZ DEAOMA no it wasn’t that it was for kids
Was it amoxicillin?
Apparently when my mom had a knee injury my great grandma would smack it (my moms knee) with a a palm tree leaf... pa la envida de las otras
😂😂
BROOO whenever i get hurt, my mom would smack my injury as a joke not knowing the pain lmaoo
I’m lucky that my mami always takes care of me when I’m sick love you mami!❤️
I always try to hide when I'm sick because my mom will always blame me and be angry about it. I don't usually get sick, I've been totally healthy for a year now (seriously). But she will still be mad at me. She always tells me that she won't take me to the doctor but at the end of the day she always does xd
Edit: forgot a word haha
Bro... My mom made me drink Armadillo soup once! Like where did you get a freaking Armadillo??!
😂😂
Once I was dying on my bed and I asked my mom to make me tea and she started yelling at me for being too lazy cuz I ain’t wanna make my own tea
Why did my grandma make me eat a little bit of the vicks too?!🤣🤣🤣
You guys are stalking me😂I'm sick, and I even had a fever but my mom was just: "You're still going to that summer class"😭😂😭
Omg same in Black households!!
Facts
Asian, latino, black households have soooo much in common lmfao
“Mami Im sick”
“a si es por el teléfono” or “Es porque te lavas el pelo en la noche. Nunca me escuchas!”
Every single time.
Mis resfriados cuando niña eran: agüita de eucalipto y manzanilla con limón y miel y Mentolatum (Vick's chileno), also spread on the chest, nose and nostrils.
Omg! This is awesome. I’m still traumatized by the cod liver oil. 😂
My mom did and then I met my Dominican Side and they did almost everything to make me smile and to feel better.
Don’t forget smiling after being sick means you no longer sick “YA ESTAS SONRIENDO YA NO ESTAS ENFERMA”
XD
As I got older, she or my abuelo would make me a tea with ginger, canela, cloves, and anise, sweetened with honey. Now that I'm moved out, I still make that tea when I'm sick.
Gadiel deserves some love 💖
In middle school, I would complain to my mom about having a bad headache. She bought me McDonald’s after letting me stay home. Idk, but my Latina mom is bomb.
My mom never believed me, no matter what, but if I had an ear infection, row infection, whatever, she’d wake me up on the middle of the night with hot water compresses. I hated that!
I would honestly love to spend the day with curly! Yes, curly Ill be over in a minute!
The eye though 😂😂😂I fucking love curly ❤️❤️❤️
Curly, Caroline, Gabriel I know how you feel my parents are exactly like that😂
Lmao you don’t know how many bottles of vinegar I’ve gone through because of my mom
I relate with curly so much! My Salvi mom did the exact same thing from the vic's to the cod fish pills 😷
The no texting while being sick is so true, if my parents see me using my phone while I’m sick, they automatically think I’m lying 😂
The vicks vaporub tho😂😂😂
My madre treated me like a rey whenever I was sick
Me: mamá, estoy enferma.
Mom: No, no lo eres. Ve a la escuela.
Me: tengo náuseas y me duele la cabeza.
Abuela: ¿Por qué no cuidas a tu bebé?
Mom: Cállate mamá, ella no es tu hija
Abuela: Irrespetuoso, ¿sabes que algún día no estaré aquí?
My Fijian mother would use Vick’s as a go to for healing flu. Now when I’m sick and smell Vick’s it brings back memories of home and my mom.
I'm black, and if I cough once in my house, my mom will yell "VICKS!" And she'll ambush me to rub it on my chest
My mom LOVES babying me but even my dad and older brother always ask if they can do things for me :( Im so blessed
You guys are soooo funny. Feeling the love 🥰
My mom would give me 7 up, caldo, vaporub, Tylenol, and a garlic lmao
Every time one of the family members has and infection in their mouth or get blisters after a fever she always mixes lemon honey and carbonato and she’ll start rubbing that against the sores till they bleed... worst feeling ever😖😩
1:06 wow. That's the first time I've seen this channel have a person as dark as me. That...hit my heart.
My grandma always told us to sleep for everything. Go to sleep was the remedy.
