    I watched this video over and over since my 3-years old son likes the scene that you pick and eat the fruit deliciously. Nice video, thanks!

    I just bought some today and I cut one in half and looked just like in the video. I only eat half of one at a serving whether breakfast for lunch or w dinner. It's so delicious and rich in antioxidants. When they're on sale I grab them at the markets but sometimes I've paid up to $4 for a tiny yellow one.

    One more thought, The only one dragon fruit bought I bought in store here in Rhode Island I found it to be almost tasteless. It’s probably from all the chemical they put in our food today. I’d love to try one freshly picked. Glad I came across ur video today. I’ve watched 3 different ones already lol… Love ur garden!!

    • @wendiland
      @wendiland  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Cindy! Dragonfruits stops turning ripe once they are picked. Commercial farms usually pick them early since they ship better. The best tasting ones are picked fresh to eat when the fruit gets fully ripe on the plant. If you can’t get one homegrown, try to refrigerate the store bought. Eat chilled, the sugar tends to concentrate more when it’s cold.

    Great Demo. Cuttings from a dumpter?? I would have never admitted to finding anything outta the trash much less a dumpter! What nut would throw those away?? Hard to believe you could turn it into a goldmine of goodness. Cuttings are easy to sell and hard to kill. I ordered red and purple cuttings and had them planted in large pots so I'm hoping for the best and getting to try these in a year or two. I wish I had gotten some white because they look beautiful too.

    I saw these today at the market in South Carolina. They are so beautiful, but I've never tried them, what do they taste like? Someone below said rotten pumpkin? How could you not love their color?!

    I grow the ones with the purple flesh here on the North coast of New South Wales. They're beautiful. Have trouble waiting for them to get ripe.

      Peter King It depends on the weather that year/season for me -- there was a year that it took almost a year to ripe! That's really cool that you are growing them there, amazing! How do you protect it from winter? Greenhouse? Planted in a pot? Maybe you can try increasing heat with a bag wrapping the fruit. Make sure to have some holes around the bag to air circulation. Or if it's in a pot see if you can move it to a warmer spot. Good luck!

      Wendi Phan It's coming into Autumn now. The days are still quite warm - 25 to 30 deg c. The fruit ripen fine & in the normal time frame I suppose; it's just that I'm always keen to eat them. No trouble with winter we don't get frost where I am (near Byron Bay) although it does frost about 1 k away and that's as cold as it gets. I have the plant at one end of my passion fruit trellis so it competes a bit with that. I potted some cuttings yesterday & planted some seeds so will soon have more then enough fruit & will probably need to sell or give away most of the plants.

    Have you ever tried red dragonfruit? Much more flavour. Could 3-4 a day?? It's seeds reminds me of frog eggs rather then sesame seeds😂😂
