During my PhD studies, whenever I read and write my thesis, I was used to listen to the greatest musics of Pundit Ravi Shankarji and his daughter Anoushka and Ustad Alla Rakha and his son Ustad Zakir Hussain. Their music gave me strength and new life to complete my PhD studies at the University of Hong Kong.
Pandit ji learn this art from small town of India called Maihar ( in Satna, Madhya Pradesh). But now a days we know about Maihar that it is the " Sangeet ki Nagri" only in GK books. None of the characteristics are appearing now there. Baba allouddin kha....ka gharana kuch nhi rah gya ab. Bahut dukhad hai.
Legends of Indian Instruments: Ustad Bismillah Khan, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Ustad Allah Rakha and Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma. The team who placed Hindustani Classical music on the global map!
It is similar to the masterpiece he played at Monterey, now with his daughter, it's awesome Ravi and Anoushka are playing at same time, such coordination is awesome... thank you for sharing
@Laura Close Well like you probably know Indian Classical music is very different from western music. With Indian classical music listening and absorbing the music is very important, also watching the movements of the players is important. So those stiff faces are probably just because those people are really concentrated on the performance, but of course they are also enjoying it and everybody enjoys things their own way, some smile, some just sit back and absorb the music and some are really concentrated. Namaste
When they hit the string that particular note gets into the pot like thing and creates the echo vibrations for the sustainable energy. The mix is the music of the cords and some people use a cover to get the variations. The sustainable energy is what is sun.
Maybe Ali Akbar Khan and Ravi Shankar were Khan's Father's students and had known each other, and played sita-sarod together for 40-50 years. That left no excitement unfounded.

Does anyone know the raga performed?
I think its manj khamaj...
Sounds like Gara. Then again Gara sounds like several other ragas too but Pancham se Gara is a Ravishankar favorite.
