- In this video I'm gonna go over my complete wishlist for Mario Kart 9. Whether this game releases on the Nintendo Switch sooner or later we're definitely going to be getting a new Mario Kart game eventually, but what should be in it? Today we're creating new tracks, roster, features, and much more for the next entry in the series.

just wanted to point out a few things...
Personal Items were introduced in Double Dash, not Tour
And Link has the BOTW tunic in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Actually they were in the first game only exclusive to CPU.

At this point, Mario Kart needs an adventure mode or create-a-track.

Obviously not, 90% of Mario kart tracks are original. But in an ideal scenario, they’d do something like this
Honestly Mario Kart Tour gets a bad rap for its pay-to-win aspects but I really do hope Mario Kart 9 draws some inspiration from it - such as character and track selection, costumes, regular events and tournaments, a shop to spend your coins and more. King Bob-omb got added recently too.
The shop better not be for currency you can buy with real money like Mario Kart Tour however. That'd introduce pay-to-win, which is a sin on a console game that costs $60+.

Imagine how amazing it would be to see Kirby get an appearance in Mario Kart 9. I mean, come on, he had his own racing game, and we also have that reveal trailer for Rosalina and Luma in Smash showing Kirby on Rainbow Road.

I was just abot to complain about the lack of a certain mall when you mentioned it. And you´re right. We maller-ballers would not have appreciated that disgrace.
How cool would it be if they threw in some Diddy Kong Racing tracks? Or any reference to that game, really.
@Logan world 11 Why? There are references to F-Zero, Animal Crossing, Zelda and Splatoon already. Nintendo literally owns everything in Diddy Kong Racing except for most characters. Racetracks and music rights are all with Nintendo as seen in the credits of DIddy Kong Racing DS. And still, if they were to somehow add a character from DKR (like Banjo, T.T., Taj or Wizpig) they could easily work with Microsoft as they have a good partnership currently.
If you have Mario Kart on the Wii you should check out the CTGP modpack. It's a free mod that allows you to play 230+ tracks, including almost every retro track and a few Diddy Kong Racing tracks as well!

While I'd like to see a Mario kart Ultimate with all previous drivers and tracks, you've crafted an awesome blueprint for MK9
I think that each character having their own item projection speed and item impact strength can further differentiate them. For example, whenever Bowser shoots out an item at somebody, it will hit that character harder then it would with other characters using the same item. However, Bowser using that aformentioned item would move slower than if others use it, as a drawback.

I mean it might be fair to say that he stopped playing 8 Deluxe before that was added. It was a surprise update like a year or more after 8 Deluxe released if I remember correctly
Maybe it’s an unpopular opinion, but I absolutely loved to unlock characters instead of just having them all to start with. There’s just no excitement in getting new vehicle parts for me
Same! I think unlocking vehicles works too, but i definitely loved unlocking characters
I think it would be cool if right after you boot up the game it ask you if you want to unlock all the characters or if you want to have all of them from the start so that way everyone’s happy

There's always 4 retro tracks from the previous entry... except in mario kart 8 where only 3 3ds tracks were brought back in base game
@@ItzAdrian02 see, there was an exception. Also we've never had the last game be a port that was around for 7 years that's potentially on the same console as the next entry.
I used to not be very interested in the Double Dash Mode idea but come to think of it, this could be a really good way of bonding between parents and young children. My step-daughter was old enough to play on her own when we began playing Mario Kart Wii but for the younger children, it could be a way of making them feel like they are contributing as equal members of a team with a parent or older sibling. For that reason alone, I would like to see that happen.
Here's my thoughts on this (sorry kinda long)-
New characters are DESPERATELY needed after what we got for the mess that was 8. Having characters like Metal Mario and Pink Gold Peach definitely was a lazy move on their part to pad the roster (even though other characters had variants but Mario has 5 different characters because lolz i guess). So for 9 - condense the variants (im going to tag that for the babies too, they're essentially the same route as the koopalings) and have more variants for the established characters like in World Tour. On that note, it would just make sense from a model perspective to bring all the characters from world tour to 9 that haven't been, it'll give a breath of fresh air to the roster.
Items - I completely agreed with everything you said. Personalized items would be a fun way to shake things up instead of having the same items every single time.
Something I was surprised you didn't talk about was what I thought was a big highlight for what DS did best - having a personalized kart for each character. I loved being able to switch them up as well.
But hey, we know Nintendo at this point. Are they ever really going to listen to us and take their fanbase's thoughts into consideration? Most likely not. But hey, at least we can dream of the best Mario game Nintendo is too ignorant to make :')

I’d have Cosmic Brothers and what I dubbed “Inventory Brothers” (Robo-Mario & Gooigi), at least they are not power-up variations, and I agree with the rest.
Track Mania has a built in track builder and it has a very active track making scene. I imagine if Nintendo could make it like that, it would be awesome. Though I can imagine it would be hard to upload them because unlike Track Mania, there's more than one car. Maybe it will make you upload the track with the lowest handling, and you must do it in under 3 minutes to prevent marathons.

As someone who has made a mario kart track before, an integrated track maker would either
A) Produce incredibly simple, boring tracks as a result of a limited toolset or
B) Be much, much too complicated to manage on a console.
Building a track requires 3d modeling knowledge and knowledge of how to design a track in the first place, both of which which the vast majority of people do not have.
I would love to see custom track support, but ideally through an officially supported PC track building tool that could make it it easier to create, compile, debug, and most importantly upload tracks than the current methods of doing so. Even a bare minimum of the ability to download custom tracks without hacking the console or replacing existing tracks would be a godsend.
I love all the retro tracks added, but I'd like to include *airship fortress* it's so underrated

I think a cool rainbow road idea to add is something incorporating Rosalina’s Observatory. While adding her ice world would be pleasing.
I think a rainbow road that has us drive through the observatory with some Luma sightings would be even better representation for Rosa.

I’ve always found it interesting that Coconut Mall is the Mario Kart Wii track everyone loves. Not saying it’s bad or anything, I really like it too, but it’s not even in my top half. If anything, that should go to show how high-quality the tracks in Mario Kart Wii are.

The variants system is what I want the most. It bothers me so much that so many characters in MK8 are just alternate versions of characters
Why couldn’t they just make Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, Metal Mario, Pink Gold Irrelevant, etc variations?!
So according to your whishlist:
- More tracks from other Mario and/or related games
- + Tracks from previous MK games (big like for Waluigi Pinball!)
- New cups
- New non-Mario characters (eg Capt. Falcon is a neat idea!) and Mario characters
- Some character to come back (ROB)
- Character exclusive item
- Alt colors for folks like Yoshi
- Achivements (lmao, that's quiet impossible
- Story mode (Finally, I agree! I wouldn't be pissed off, if story mode would be similar to eg. Crash Team Racing or Crash Nitro Kart (in latter, Tatanga kidnaps Mario and co, racing against bosses from previous Mario, Yoshi and Wario games.)
- Double Dash-esque mod - agreed. It would go under the name as Tag Kart
- Improved online mode with ranks
- Track editor (hmmm)
- New battlemode

- Boss battles (DS)
- Daily challenges like in tour but better
- Double Dash team mode
- being able to pick ur own CC (like in every other mk game) so you and others can stick with 150cc instead of it being random
- Tournament's Double Dash style with winners getting a gold Mario costume, 2nd place gets silver Mario costume & 3rd gets a bronze Mario costume plus all top 3 getting a hefty amount of coins with the rest of the players all getting a small amount

I love just how similar your retro choices were to my MK9 Retro Tracks video. Despite our different rules we have very similar opinions. (Also great video I love all of it)
My thought for the new gimick of the next mario kart would be interactable dynamic tracks. For example, maybe there will be some pieces of wood holding up some bolders or something that you can crash into to knock them down and crush other players or really anything that you can interact with in the track to affect how the track plays
An idea for a new Item I've had for a while, the Double Cherry.
I don't know what it'd do to the FPS or the graphics, but I've been in love with the double cherry since it was revealed.

A cup with the fan-favorite tracks of each previous game.
...This is my excuse for getting Waluigi Pinball, Coconut Mall, and N64 Rainbow Road remasters.
Also letting you play as any character that has an amiibo, or just a good chunk of them, if you have the amiibo, rather than just giving you a shoddy Mii suit for not a lot of characters, like in 8 Deluxe.
There’s already a BOTW tunic for Link.
With the belly of the beast track, how would that work if bowser himself is there?

I have a Google doc where I have the entire roster planned out (70 characters returning with 20 new ones). I also have a Slide where I have all of the items planned out for the game (With new and Special Items). And finally I have another Doc where I have the overall gameplay/UI of the Next Mario Kart. Safe to say that I'm really excited to see how the next Mario Kart turns out.

While I definitely like a bunch of your suggestions, for the retro cups, I would prefer if there weren't two tracks from the same game in the cup, to keep it from feeling repetitive.
This is incredibly well put together. I don't know if Nintendo will officially implement these, much less make an actual Mario Kart 9, but this was a great video, Siiroth.

I also want Wheelies and full inside drifting in Mario Kart 9, too, as well as a special ability for Karts and ATVs as well.
For a desert track, I would like Nintendo to spice it up a little.
What if instead of a normal dessert track, we can have a Neo Bowser City 2 or a Mushroomy Kingdom track, where everything is abandoned. Imagine Earth from “WALL-E”

Great Video! Definitely my favorite concept for Mario Kart 9 on the Internet. Botw Link was in MK8 though but minor mistake
I like the idea of adding Fox to MK9 because I was so hyped for a Starfox racing game, and then it was all for not. But I would also like to see Wolf in MK9, he is a fan favorite in Starfox and it would be cool to see a hero and a villain from the franchise. I also want to see a course like Venom being added.
I knew I waited too long, I wanted to make my own ideas for MK9 as my first vid. But glad there are other people thinking about it.
My hopes were to get a hotel level with cloud elevators. a canyon/bridge level to be toured around by talkatoo! And maybe a pakagoda of sorts, more of a vertical race.
I also thought a great gimmick would be having 8 bit transitions on tracks that maybe focus on collecting coins for speed rather than overtaking.
I really loved this video and your ideas were so good, just a tad jealous I didn't make it first (I mean that as a compliment)

If they introduce a new mechanic for racing itself, they really gotta make sure it hits, because anti-gravity falls flat so hard. You never feel upside down because from your perspective, the track is always well organized, you never have elements around you that bring scale and inform you on what the actual orientation of the place is supposed to be.
Sometimes you watch a replay and go "oh right, that's upside down" because the camera is away from the track and in the default rotation, whereas the player perspective doesn't show it in the slightest.
Of course the other option they could go is the whole nintendo kart thing. Where they just expand out with other characters and tracks to include stuff from more francises.
Also really either way, we should get some kirby representation
What would the new game gimmick be? Like Mariokart 8 has Anti-Gravity, Mariokart 7 has gliding and underwater, Wii had Tricking, etc. etc.
It's difficult to say, there's many options but I'd honestly just love for anti-gravity to come back

Hell yeah! :D All that sounds really cool, Siiroth! If there's anything that the Mario Kart franchise desperately needs is without a doubt a story/adventure mode, it makes absolutely no sense why Nintendo STILL has not single-player campaign that's not Grand Prix, it's such a perfect opportunity for players to adjust to the controls, and other original things, hell, even DS had somewhat of a precursor to an adventure/story mode with the Mission Mode, so hopefully, Mario Kart 9, or whatever it'll be called, will finally include it, along with tracks, music, costume variants, vehicle variants including choosing the older-style Karts, and characters from Tour, though obviously without the microtransactions, and even add in the new animations Mario, and Luigi Home Circuit as well as the new environment animations when attacked by certain obstacles, but, it's most likely going to be the same with new content.
AND MAYBE, INSTEAD OF HAVING THE METAL CHARACTERS, THEY COULD BE FREAKING ALTS THIS TIME!!!
King Bob-omb, Nabbit and Monty Mole are in Mario Kart Tour so including them would be super easy for nintendo. (side note mario kart tour has a combo system where you can chain drifts tricks item hits and coins to increase a score and get rewards for gettinga higher score which is super fun and changes things up alot and in general mario kart tour is much better than it was at launch and deserves better)
These are some great ideas, and you've definitely earned a sub!! Only thing I disagree with is adding DK Summit in the Shell cup, that track seems a bit too hard.
There are three things that I want back, funky kong, koopa Cape, and wheeling. (I hope they make an option to make the wheelie button one of the shoulder buttons rather than the dpad.

VERY well thought out I agree with all of your thoughts and opinions especially with the double dash mode but I think that if there was a star fox cup then Nintendo would definitely have to add Fox and Falco or Fox and Wolf
For exclusive items, Iggy would no doubt need the chain chomp. Lakitu could have Spinies, which are basically bananas but they walk around in circles. Dry bones could have the dry bones shell, which would be a red shell that when it hits someone it shatters, only to quickly rebuild itself to hit the next person.
16:10 - Link already has a Champion's Tunic variant.
they should add a versus mode called like "elimination race" where there's a timer and every 30 seconds or so the person in last place gets eliminated.

I want them to call it Mario kart switch and the switch is that your vehicle can change into boats, planes or literally any vehicle and the stages use these really well (not just like a glider, a full on part of the corse where you race in planes)

I want a "pit stop" feature in mk9. Each car has a different time for a pit stop, and there's one every lap. If you decide not to take the pit stop, your speed and acceleration will get worse. What do you think?
This was a great list! I respect all of this. I love animal crossing, Splatoon, Zeldax f zero, StarFox and all the stuff but I personally don’t feel they should be in the game. I do respect your opinions though. The tracts select is really good too! (When you call Starli Chibi)

For Battle Mode maps I want ALL Mario Kart 64 tracks
Modes
- Double Dash style battles
- Last Kart standing (start off with a random person getting a shock cloud which u then have to bump into someone to pass it on as time goes on more clouds spawn making the mode not last forever)
- Splatoon Turf Wars (Ink the most of ur color or ur teams color by just driving around and you can throw bombs that explode ur/ur teams color along with throwing shells that leave streaks of ur/ur teams color)
- Ghost Hunt (Team/Player that sucks up the most ghosts wins and everyone will be in a big driveable version of the Poltergust 5000 Vacuum)
I think a cool Circuit to add would be a Rainbow Circuit, which is just Rainbow Road. It'd be more meant for experienced players.
I also think a cool story mode could be something akin to Crash Team Racing where you race around to free the courses and have boss races and boss battles, maybe beat the boss in a race first and they "cheat" so you enter the battle in your car.
id love to see some kind of in game progression to unlock things seen in the mario movie like the rocket barrels on dk's kart. idk how this would work exactly, maybe get x amount of coins by a certain lap and your kart upgrades to something like the rocket barrels or some other exclusive character upgrade.

A explorable world that leads between tracks.
A story
Powerups are no longer random
You can race using different vehicles, planes for example.

@@Siiroth I bought Mariokart 8 deluxe thinking it would be a good game, instead to me it rather dull and the powerups are annoying. Diddy Kong Racing is the only Kart game I enjoyed. I love your idea of a track maker.

I want Cappy to be an item:
It would home in like a red shell, and if you get hit the person who threw it controls you (for 5 seconds)
So if you’re ahead of them by 2 seconds, you’ll start hitting walls and traps etc
i have 2 track ideas, first is bowser skyscraper that would take part inside of 2 very tall skyscrapers you'd start at the bottom and work your way to the top and come to a bridge connecting the 2 buildings with large bowser heads on the buildings you'd go inside the 2nd skyscraper then jump of it and land on a road that eventually does a loop again and the second track should be a nascar track like daytona or talladega
I really like how this video started off without “hey guys” or any kind of intro.
My wish list for Mario Kart 9 is just basically smash bros ultimate. Just bring everything back. All the tracks, items, characters, karts, wheels and gliders. Also make some new tracks as well
