  • This little cutie has been around over a decade now, it was derived from the 302 2 berth which was a belter. However the 304 is a cracking model and although its not fpr everyone it has a place for those wanting a lightweight tourer. At one time this length 12 ft 6in in old money was the "set" length for a family of four -now its consider compact - look out for dealer specials such as Kimberley Caravans Xplore upgraded range well worth a few quid more for the extra spec! - Please also mention the channel if you enquire about one at your local dealer-PS they make a great used but too!!!

Its a little cracker but remember at one time this size was your average family tourer sleeping up to five - they sell well used too-glad you love yours-thanks for taking time to comment

Great review. I looked at this at the show and really liked it. Still torn between this the Xplore 420 and the Alpine 2, but can't fault this on price in comparison. I'd be interested if you have come across any issues with having the single window at the front as opposed to 3? Reason being that we had a relative who had a Bailey Ranger (can't remember the year but the one with the bubble graphics) who had repeated problems with leaks. The repairers put it down to the structure have too much flex across the span of the single window. While I like the idea of the picture view, it kind of gives be a nagging doubt that it's more for economy.

Hi and thank you for your great comments it was a Ranger 5 series yes they had lots of problems at the front with cracking panels and window due to flexing a single window is cheaper over three as you say so keeping costs down - the Xplore is overdue for a major update thanks again

Hi Andy. I also have a soft spot for this van, even though we have a bigger 4 berth now. At the show we felt the Elddis vans were looking a bit dated vs the newer designs from Bailey and Swift. Any thoughts?

Hi Andrew - I would go along with that in a review yet to come on the channel - the new Elegance proves that thought of yours and mine. Swift have a very energetic design team and its showing, after not to many changes last year this sees them doing the most and that was needed in my opinion - the Avante ect look dated now and need big changes hopefully its not a body profile the same as the Crusader - they can come up with something different. Bailey well Phoenix is ready for change i think Sprite next year will see more changes too. Yep Swift have been busy including two new motorhome ranges which are smart and i will look at a review too on them. thank you for contacting the channel .

It's a great style van, but I think the build quality is very poor. Traded mine in before it got out of warranty and the real issues started. Go for a Bailey. My son still towing our 30yr old family caravan (Bailey Beachcomber). I'd advise everyone considering an Xplore to be prepared to fix the bed, the front window and not use the shower, as it floods the main cabin because shower curtain not long enough!

hi Debbie - all vans have probs - sounds like your Bailey has proved its worth and thats great news, newer models have major floor problems with rotting as water leaks and runs down the wall unseen and ends in floor area rotting it pretty quickly - think older Baileys were better like my 09 Ranger GT60 500/5 thanks for the comments Debbie

The xplore 304 vans are constructed with inferior ABS plastic front and rear panels that can crack and let in damaging water. I advise you don't waste your money and go for something that will actually last and avoid up to £9k in repairs. Also the warranty is worthless as the panels are only guaranteed for 1 year - this shows just how little confidence Elddis has in their products!

Oh dear so sorry to hear Elizabeth - there have been stories of this happening to the up end Crusaders too - you need to check buying used especially for these faults - you dont say yhr age of your 304 would be interesting - seen older models and in fine order but earlier Xplore used GRP front and rear panels which are heavier but stronger.

I bought new - I have full 10 year warranty in place - despite all this elddis is not wanting to fix these manufacturing defects/cracks. Actually that is appalling and possibly against the law. Elddis literally don't care as long as they get to keep their profits and avoid paying out under all circumstances. Buy from a better manufacturer that actually cares is my advice.
