As for the engine it quite happily sits at 70mph at 2750rpm all day long , most of my journeys are long distance. Really happy with the car and as a time served mechanic it's simple to maintain and cheap on parts.

We have at our ranch 3 Dacia Dusters , two older models, one brand new and we are very pleased with them, never had any issue whatsoever and we put them at work on daily basis in mud, snow, uphill, downhill, very sturdy machines.
I have a 2014 Dacia Duster 1.5 dci 4x4 that i got for £4k hasn't missed a beat, what little snow we had this year, it didn't break a sweat. It's cheap, simple, i think little to go wrong. I would highly recommend buying one
I live in Eastern Poland and we do get some dodgy winters here and there, but for ordinary snow, the Duster is becoming ever more popular....It is also true here that everyone has a relative who lives up a bumpy lane...the Duster means you can drive right up to their house rather than leave your Audi A4 etc down at the end of the lane.
Just subscribed. My mk1 Picasso lasted me 11 years and never ever let me down. My mk2 I had for 5 years, most of that time was either back with the dealer or fixing it myself. Moved onto Skoda. Just finished my 6th year and that has never broke. Apart from the harsh ride its very good. Loving the latest duster design and colours.
I bought a Duster when the new model arrived in 2018. Owned it for a couple if years and really pleased with it. Decent build. Plenty of space and good equipment levels. Mine had the old 1600 petrol engine so it was no roadburner, but suited the car. I sold it to my brother in law, who still has it and loves it.
@@Piotrekx3 I swear I don't know what chris is talking about, they're horrid, horrible build quality (when you open the door, the door's metal rubbs off the rubber line near the bonnet), bad reliability (just check some forums), not much of an off roader since the 4x4 diff heats up and moves you to 4x2.
@@alexandrucioarec6554 It does not need to be a good 4x4 because lets face it the only off reading most of these and any other 4x4 including the new and overpriced Defender will do is going over some kerps and some flat green fields. Because if they were then they would not be popular and they were very cheap when they came out at first so ye the quality is not going to be up to Mercedes standards.

@@Piotrekx3 I mean reversing camera, parking sensors, a/c, dab, satnav, android auto, CarPlay, cruise etc. etc. etc. for a very good price. Decent sized family car too.
Thanks for the review. As someone who lives down the road and knows your neck of the woods well the reverse camera shots threw my head. Anyhow I’ve just ordered a new one. 6 month wait for my 4x4. For some reason I really like the way these things look. Utilitarian.
Great video mate. I’m a spark, have just signed on the dotted line to trade my NV200 in for a new diesel 4x4 Duster. Was tempted to hold off for the new new one coming later next year, but it seems like a step back for a work vehicle with all its electric nik naks & infotainment integrated controls as you mention. I really like how it drove, commuting through rural NW Scotland I loved how it drove big & soft. Arriving in April, I can’t wait.
We have about 30 of these as company cars, we do maintenance of oil and gas well site in Eastern Europe...ours are all 4x4 diesels. There were no major problems and they all work flawlessly, we retire them them from circulation when they reach ~300k km.They are exceptional vehicles
Thank you so much for those measurements, that's properly useful. The new Jogger also makes a great argument for itself. So good in fact that the local dealer just laughed when I asked about it, and said they're all spoken for until the end of the year. Literally none to be had, or booked. Looks like I'll be getting a new Duster then. :D
They're cheap because 90% of the parts in it are from previous Renaults. So things like the engine, gearbox, running gear, electrics etc are both well proven and fully deprecated from an R&D standpoint. Which makes it a win-win for consumers and Dacia.
Great video, very informative, I'm an old Northerner living in Holland for well over 20 years , I have just stopped with my business that being a painter and decorator ,and I have being looking at downsizing from my Peugeot expert van to something that I can still use if I want to do the odd job , I myself like the duster and have looked at a few , I know a few people who have one and are very happy with them ,even after a few years , like you ,the 1600cc is the engine of choice for me , good luck with yours and all being well I should have one in the next few weeks Cheers...
I've not long ordered the Dacia Jogger. Even though it's only the 3 cylinder petrol it was powerful enough. My daughter has the same engine in her Sandero . She's had the car four years and it's been reliable.
Have had the Dacia Logan Mcv for the past 7 years, a Diesel have been up and down the Country now on 90000 miles only recent issue Ive had with it was a wheel bearing change but then it is Ulez compliant and pays zero tax... I agree with you on having too much distractions on the dashboard of other cars
Nice one for talking through using it for both work and home. I'm after the 4wd for occasional woodland work and as a big family car. I love that it's very light for it's size so in 2wd mode it's still got decent mpg. Nothing about it is strong enough for serious forestry but that's not what i need. It's a 4wd estate car in the shape of an SUV. Perfect.
Very fair review. I put my son onto Dacias and he's just bought his third Duster and I'm wondering why I'm spending twice as much on Qashqais so... Dacia, here I come.
Great review I’ve had my 1.3 petrol 20 edition for three years next September been fantastic and get 44 mpg on local trips. Indeed offers great value and the question is why everybody else charges so much.
Brilliant made video I have a renault kangoo 2005 brilliant van its now in Ireland as ilez in London its ideal for the country roads very reliable 1.5 dci engine just keep them serviced last for miles and lots of non plastic undercarriage protection 😀 👍
You've obviously done a lot of reading up about dacias :) I've bought a 22 plate prestige duster LPG myself (new when I got it) which has saved me a bunch on fuel but I have easy access to LPG where I live. Absolutely flawless so far. I would mention though I have managed to flat fold the rear seat if I pull up the base of the rear seat first and then take the headrests off the rear seats and then it folds flat for me. Might be different on your 19 plate version but worth a look perhaps. I'm also already overvalue on the PCP, the car is now worth more than what I have outstanding on finance...just nuts really. I'm well chuffed with it and plan to buy the Dacia Bigster when that comes out.
Wife's got a 70 plate 1.3 turbo, and it's more than capable even fully Laden. Averages 47mpg and is plenty big enough. For a biggish, high uycar, it handles surprisingly well on a twisty B road and isn't upset by bad road surfaces. Thoroughly recommend them.
Congrats on 1.01k subscribers Paul! Lovely no-nonsense review, I'm ordering a Duster 4x4 shortly and it was very reaffirming to hear your take. Agreed about the EV button hell. It's positively dangerous - I'm currently driving one and it's very distracting for even the most basic tasks. My missus is Romanian, and she is chuffed. Thanks again.
Brilliant review..down to earth very informative (unlike the manic idjiot from CW)....who always mentions scratchy plastics.... you were real. Thank you.
we bought a used Duster in2014 only had 6000 miles on the clock it was a diesel we used it for towing a small caravan and as a cheap around, it was a fairly ok little car we had it for about 15 months , the reason it was so cheap is evident when thing that you take for granted on more expensive cars start to fail, it not a sturdy car it wobbles when you hit a pot hole it was so bad that the windscreen actually cracked and needed replaced ( twice) we were told by the guy who replaced both screens that these are common replacements on the car because their structural rigidity is weak, it eats front tyres because the tracking can never be accurate so they wear prematurely we had it tracked by many garages and none of them could sort it out, the interior plastics fit and finish and basic quality is only average, we eventually got rid of because the DPF kept throwing and engine management light on the dash and the DPF required replacement i believe the car had done around 19k miles when we eventually sold it and we lost a lot of money from the retail price because they do not hold their value, we bought an older Honda CRV with 36,000 miles and we still had that up to 2021, it was a far better car in every aspect, Dacia are cheap because they are build to a tempting price that is the reality.
Great practical review, it's great to see someone actually get a tape measure out and measure load length, I'm sick and tired of reviewers quoting liters as if that actually tells you anything useful.
Dacia is great value for money in comparison with other makes. I bought myself a Sandero Mk I new in 2012 for 6.083£ (last series Mk 1 dealer Edt. Baseway , w/ white everything , even the wheels) and it's been great all the way. very sturdy built. At 11 yrs old w/ 61K miles on the clock i (touch wood) have never had any trouble with it. I do however give it the full oil/filter change yearly (5 - 7K kms and new belt every 30K) Much bigger than the evrage city car (i10/picanto/celerio) but also much cheaper. Proven tech (Clio II)
Great video. Very informative. In South Africa the diesel seems very popular but also quite a bit more expensive. This was great overview of the 1.6 petrol. Thanks
I want to get the Logan. As I want something to carry some load in the back. It actually looks like a proper workhorse estate car with a large rear door, which I find difficult to find these days.
Cant believe what a good value car that is, especially with crazy prices still about for used cars ...i would definitely own one, goid practicle family car ...
Great video. I guessed 12 grand. Pity the rear bench doesn't go completely flat. Remember the older cars where the seat hinged up which allowed the rear part to go completely flat.
The bench on the Duster can be lifted forward, but I don't know if there's enough space to fold the back fully flat, worth trying though! I know the bench folds because I've done it while installing some seat belt catch stiffeners to make it easy for smaller children to buckle up themselves.
The prices quoted for new Dacias are always for the basic white versions. (ANY other colour adds about £400 to the base price..a bit like the Model-T Ford which only came in black.) As most people don’t prefer white the advertised price is to get you interested. Great cars btw. I have a 2016 Logan and it has never given me an hour’s trouble in 6 years. I might get a new Jogger (the Logan’s replacement) next year as the reviews have been great.
You likely will have to wait until next year, as the Joggers are sold out and pre-booked to the end of this year. Bloke at the dealer just laughed when I asked about them, said he'd love to sell me one, but there's none to be had.
£560 for a colour now - but as everything else comes as standard (on all but the basic model), you're still getting a top-spec'd new SUV for around half of its nearest competitor. DAB, SatNav, Apple Carplay, alloys, heated seats, LED lights etc etc
I traded my isuzu 4x4 for a dacia duster commercial van, a bit rare to find in the UK but I got one and it's great. Renault tech convert the car by removing the rear seats and put a bulkhead in and a flat floor. Mine is 4x4 and is brilliant off road. The gearbox is very short ratio with the 4x4 so on the road that's its only drawback.
I want something a bit higher to step into, I own a Ford Focus at the moment, and being 70+, starting to look at Dacia Dusters, as I think their good value. Your right about the price of cars these days, silly money !
Like yourself, I finally let my Caddy van (62 plate) go, I stayed with VW though and got a Bloody ULEZ compliant Tiguan. Thought I may struggle with going from a van to a car. I’ve had no regrets with the changeover though.
Bought a used 2019 30k 1.5 diesel Duster April 2022, I found the seats hard and uncomfortable the airbag circuit stcks in ya arse through the seats and underneath on the exhaust there is a second EGR valve that will seize up if you dont lubricate it every six months and if it seizes it has to be cut from the exhaust and a new one welded in place. other than that I cant fault the buying experience from the renault dealership Richard Saunders in Kettering they were amazing and were always happy to go out of their way to help. I ended up with a Diesel Citroen C5 Aicross suv which is a lot more expensive but also a lot more comfortable to drive longer distances. we also have 2013 Dacia Sandero 1.5 diesel which does 87 mpg on a long run up to the isle of sky and back to Northants and its also a lot more comfortable to drive.
Certainly a good value brand but there are very few modern cars I'd want to own. Hate modern diesels because they've been ruined by green policies. Constant issues with DPF, AdBlue injectors. Anyone who owns a stop start vehicle go and check how much a replacement alternator or battery costs and you'll get a shock. I've decided my main priorities are reliability and cheap motoring. A small petrol, ideally no turbo, chain driven with decently priced spares like batteries and tyres.
I live in teddington, so it was nice to see places I know. Your review was as good as any of the more widely known TH-cam car reviews around.. Wow. Also, today I intend to go down to SMC Weybridge to have a look at a Duster and I will tell them it's because of your video.
My Dacia is a 1.5 DCI 90 Lodgy, full specs lots and lots of space, very economical excellent reliability and a fairly nice ride, I don't think that you can find any other car with the same specs as my Lodgy for a similar price. Now they've stopped with building the Lodgy and replaced it with their new JOGGER which has exactly the same space inside but they sadly don't make them in diesel version anymore.
Wife bought me a Gold Duster with the side foot runners...3000 Miles on clock...17000 now and NO problem yet...brilliant car..!!.....Simple power boost..??..Fit a K and N air filter..2minute job and gives a tiny bit more everywhere..!!....Best car I never bought...!!....Highly recommended..!!..Best wishes from Plymouth UK..!!
Dimensions were extremely useful to know! Couldn't find good info about it anywhere else, thanks a lot! I"m interested in the 2023 model, but am definitely waiting to see what they will do with the completely new Duster in 2024. The new Bigster releasing in 2025 looks absolutely badass like nothing else before, though that's still 2 years off and will probably be quite a bit more expensive...
The main reason for having a van in my book is if your carry equipment and you have an accident . you will be protected from anything in the rear coming to the front and hitting you. almost pointless having air bags. so my advice here is to see if you can get a cage at least to run across behind you. stay safe buddy.😉
Glad you pointed it out . I loaded my Peugeot partner van and kept the stuff I needed first at the back . A stupid old woman in a brand new Toyota Yaris pulled straight out in front of me , I braked hard . When it came to unload everything was at the bulk head and the plastic containers where smashed to pieces. Wouldn't carry tools in a car for that reason unless there's a bulkhead.
@@mikeraphone6745 On the supermarket home delivery gig, one of the drivers I knew had a head on down a country lane at 30 mph, the other vehicle was doing 30mph as well and the load in the supermarket van shifted so bad it went through the bulkhead, not completely, but a good few inches!
Thank you for a great video. I am retired, and play in a couple of bands, so often travel to gigs with 2 or 3 other band members, and some gear. I had a Peugeot Bipper Teepee diesel and it was very useful, but with 103,000 miles on it, it was getting to the point where things were starting to be suspect and I feared it wouldnt be long before a big bill happened. So I part ex'd it for a Duster. 31,000 miles, one owner 20 th anniversary bifuel model. Its got more gadgets than the Bipper, but not so much that you need a degree in rocket science to drive it. And theres tons of room for people and gear, as your video so ably demonstrates. The only snag is that its a much bigger vehicle to clean and polish....... And the local seagulls seem to like using it for target practice!
My previous car was a C3 Picaso. The front passenger seat folded forward flat so could get 2.4m lengths of timber in between the back window and front foot well. Brilliant idea.
I’ve just bought a used Sandero stepway. Top spec. Tdi. It’s really nice. If I wanted the same spec in a fiesta/Corsa it would have been double the cost. I work to live. Not live to work.
Im thinking of getting the diesel 4x4. Probs a 16 plate. I grew up in WOT until my mid 20's. Now live in Wiltshire on Salisbury Plain, hence the 4x4. Spooling forward a few months, do you still rate it Paul?
After buying a 6 year old Logan with 12000 (!) miles, I put it up to 30,000 in 6 months then bought a new 2023 poverty spec Duster with Grey Paint for 16.5K . Still got air con, cruise control and electric front windows - the rest I don't care about even though I did get 6 Speeds and DAB radio. Has the 1.0 3 cylinder petrol like the Logan - very nice engine and pulls well and will sit at 70mph at 2,300 rpm so not even noisy. Steel wheels because alloys are just so last year.......
I have a Dacia Duster 1.3 ltr auto prestige model and it's coming up to 18 mths old. The only problem I've have is the sat nav points in all diff directions than the way it should show, upwards, it freezes occasionally which affects the radio. It's booked in for a check so hopefully that will be resolved soon. Other than that i'm more than happy with the car it's cost 22,000 when new but worth it.
I have just bought a Series 3 and it is brilliant! Actually a much better car than the Vauxhall Grandland X I had previously. Oh and it has more cup holders!
I think a Duster could be my next car. I don't like SUVs, but headlamp legislation today is inadequate, and I need more eye height to be above the worst of the dazzle. I have found UVEX make very good yellow tinted safety glasses that really improve twilight and night vision with oncoming lights. You are completely correct that touchscreens are dangerous. They take more driver attention than is needed with buttons. I think the diesel is the way to go. It is Renault/Nissan/Mercedes, and I was impressed how quiet they are in the street. Great video ! Thanks.
Hey Paul, on the offchance you're checking comments, could you do a measurement from the boot floor to the underside of the boot covering, and from the boot floor to the top of the boot load lip? Want to have the load cover so I can worry less about break ins, but not sure if my ladders will fit under it sat sideways! Would save me a trip to the dealer if you could measure this.
Hi i like your choice of cars and your way of thinking. I'm running a 1.6 petrol mk1 Berlingo in mint condition for now. I'd definitely own Dacia as a brand but I'm aiming for a small car and small van ownership when what i want is available. I want my next purchases to be EV's as i love how they drive so its just a waiting game. The small cheap ev i plan to order is out later this year. Dacia have the Spring ev model but its not available in the UK.
I have a 1.3 .19 plate , fold everything in the back and use it like a motorhome (almost) , slept feb when it got down to minus 5 , frost on the inside eek , been a great car for me and the wife , grandkids love it as well , getting around 45+ with mixed driving, engine is peppy enough but can get a shift on when i take it off the ECO mode , will keep it for a few years and will have no probs getting another 🖕
Our Dacia Sandero Stepway is nearly 5 years old, bought it new. Just had a headlight bulb go. That's it. Brilliant cars for the money, a no brainer. Like you say, why are other brands so expensive, some are nowhere near as good as Dacia. Voted Britains most reliable brand in 2022.
Hi Paul, Great little video it's just a shame everything on the road seemed mirrored, as it looks like your driving on the wrong side of the road. I looked at the Dacia Logan when they first came over.

What good equipment you meant by that? Decent build ? huh ;p
What a lovely bloke and a brilliant video! I’ve been looking at the sandero stepway cuz I love the look of SUVs and I do occasional live sound with a small PA. Just seen a duster near my house n thought of you 😊
@@Piotrekx3 I mean reversing camera, parking sensors, a/c, dab, satnav, android auto, CarPlay, cruise etc. etc. etc. for a very good price.
I have one 2019..never missed a bit,no problems whatsoever...❤
Great video mate. I’m a spark, have just signed on the dotted line to trade my NV200 in for a new diesel 4x4 Duster. Was tempted to hold off for the new new one coming later next year, but it seems like a step back for a work vehicle with all its electric nik naks & infotainment integrated controls as you mention.
I really like how it drove, commuting through rural NW Scotland I loved how it drove big & soft.
Arriving in April, I can’t wait.
Really useful review. Thank you. I have a Duster on order.
Glad it was helpful!
Well proven to give problems and break especially electrics

Bought a 2015 Sandero a year ago, it has been flawless in every respect.
Perfect.
Loved this, agree with everything you say about cars. Hope it lasts. Subscribed!
great review had mine 21 plate a few weeks now, brill car
You've obviously done a lot of reading up about dacias :)
I've bought a 22 plate prestige duster LPG myself (new when I got it) which has saved me a bunch on fuel but I have easy access to LPG where I live.
Thanks for your great review. This is going to be a good side hustle for you. 👍
Well done Paul. You are a natural . Good info.
Great video. Very informative. In South Africa the diesel seems very popular but also quite a bit more expensive. This was great overview of the 1.6 petrol. Thanks
Nice practical motor, good choice of engines.
Great video Paul thanks
I want to get the Logan. As I want something to carry some load in the back. It actually looks like a proper workhorse estate car with a large rear door, which I find difficult to find these days.
Inspiring video. Cheers.
Cant believe what a good value car that is, especially with crazy prices still about for used cars ...i would definitely own one, goid practicle family car ...
I used to live in Hersham so it’s nice to see some places I know.
(ANY other colour adds about £400 to the base price..a bit like the Model-T Ford which only came in black.)
As most people don’t prefer white the advertised price is to get you interested. Great cars btw. I have a 2016 Logan and it has never given me an hour’s trouble in 6 years. I might get a new Jogger (the Logan’s replacement) next year as the reviews have been great.
The model T came in lots of colours for about half it's production life, black was the only colour for just ten years.
You likely will have to wait until next year, as the Joggers are sold out and pre-booked to the end of this year. Bloke at the dealer just laughed when I asked about them, said he'd love to sell me one, but there's none to be had.
There is a 2023 Logan model as well, loads of them on the streets here already: th-cam.com/video/di1ytxbbCV4/w-d-xo.html
£560 for a colour now - but as everything else comes as standard (on all but the basic model), you're still getting a top-spec'd new SUV for around half of its nearest competitor.
DAB, SatNav, Apple Carplay, alloys, heated seats, LED lights etc etc
I've been thinking about getting a Duster seen some good low mileage ones you've persuaded me thanks mate!
Just got a new Duster Journey EDC love it great on fuel goes handles well roomy and goes pretty well too.
I am thinking of getting one great review.
Just bought one. Collect in a few days. How has yours treated you?
No problems so far great value
Like yourself, I finally let my Caddy van (62 plate) go, I stayed with VW though and got a Bloody ULEZ compliant Tiguan. Thought I may struggle with going from a van to a car. I’ve had no regrets with the changeover though.
I love that you bought extra cross bars for the roof rack… you know they reconfigure to become cross bars!
Not this model, the new one does have the new bars that can reconfigure
Can you tell us about you boat and motor you mentin at the end? Type etc, looks good for getting on the water cheers
With respect you are stating the obvious. Once over, a basic Ford Fiesta was £10k. Now they are £18k plus.... Everything costs more than it used to.
Exactly my own priorities. Cheers !
Brilliant Paul!
Thanks Sarah

My Dacia is a 1.5 DCI 90 Lodgy, full specs lots and lots of space, very economical excellent reliability and a fairly nice ride, I don't think that you can find any other car with the same specs as my Lodgy for a similar price.
Now they've stopped with building the Lodgy and replaced it with their new JOGGER which has exactly the same space inside but they sadly don't make them in diesel version anymore.
The inside measurements were golden, its so hard to find!

The body work on these makes the Citroen 2CV appear armour plated. It is very thin but very good value for money. Well worth getting.
103k is nothing if looked after.
Brilliant review, thanks
My previous car was a C3 Picaso. The front passenger seat folded forward flat so could get 2.4m lengths of timber in between the back window and front foot well. Brilliant idea.
That's basically what I wa having to do in the caddy, just got to take a little more care when loading this one.
I’ve just bought a used Sandero stepway. Top spec. Tdi. It’s really nice. If I wanted the same spec in a fiesta/Corsa it would have been double the cost. I work to live. Not live to work.
The rear seat goes down a wee bit further when you don’t retract the headrests completely.
Very honest review 👏

Just bought one and I love it
I have just bought a Series 3 and it is brilliant!

Our Dacia Sandero Stepway is nearly 5 years old, bought it new. Just had a headlight bulb go. That's it. Brilliant cars for the money, a no brainer. Like you say, why are other brands so expensive, some are nowhere near as good as Dacia. Voted Britains most reliable brand in 2022.
And yet Dacias are leading the statistics for most unreliable ICE cars lol
