  • Another in the series of sea fishing in Cardigan Bay, Wales (UK).
This video covers two short, evening sessions in April (filmed on 02.04.23 and 03.04.23), fishing at Aberaeron over high tide. This was the first time I'd fished the venue and was my introduction to Welsh sea fishing. My intention was to try and catch anything, but with bull huss in mind. I knew that it could be snaggy; but I didn't lose much gear and didn't blank. A personal best was caught. Techniques and rigs are dealt with, together with venue details.

Nicely fished the beach seemed challenging, and that's the beauty of exploring different techniques when visiting new venues. Really enjoyable content 👍

lovely to see you fishing where i grew up. These days where I live in london I fish many of the spots on the thames and south coast and kent you film. on the cardigan bay, there is an excellent book by local angler John Mason that covers the whole coast in detail and well worth a read for marks and tips

Many thanks for that. A good shout - I'll have to check out that book at some stage! However, I do also like to fish venues I've not seen before, or know very little about.

I fish there a fair bit, last week in same spot you were during last part of incoming tide 2hrs up to high, afternoon, had 2 Bull Huss a 4 Doggies and last was a small eel, all bit within 10 mins of bait in water (small pieces Mackerel with tip of squid.
Only using one 11ft rod and holding it as it was pretty rough and waves crashing, came from pretty close in as well which surprised me as was only baptising a new cheap £20 Mackerel rod.
Have had plenty off Doggies from there along with Turbot and Codling and even Black Bream further south from the Rocks.
It can be a bit snaggy, best to check at low water, depends on how the sand moves as well as sometimes it completely covers the small boulders and weed so is clean sand, other times it uncovers the snags. I always use lead lifts in any case, easier reeling in. It is very snaggy with those Pebble Boulders and weed the nearer you get to the rocks on the left.
I only live 10-15 mins away, I also fish Aberysthwyth (South of Harbour and Stone Jetty) and occasionally LLanrhystud, used to fish a lot at Ynyslas as a kid as we had a caravan down there 50 years ago lol.

@@rodsangleuk6283 Was fishing same spot over Low water today, overcast and pretty calm, 45 mins before low had 3 Huss on 3 casts (all bit less than 10 mins of bait in), had to wait 1.5 hours after low for the next one but it had gone a bit brighter with sun breaking through, probably put them off a bit.

HiRod are you fishing your way round the coast? I live in Aldeburgh now, more your stomping ground. I fished Anglesey a lot with my father as originally from Liverpool. Great content, thank you. 😊

Plenty of marks still to cover in Suffolk - I'll be there once the soles start showing again! I think it might be a while before I get round to Anglesey - have many more venues in Cardigan Bay in mind first.
