      thank you kao, the band conditions were good that day. The activation location close to the ocean also helped with getting the dx stations, 73

    James, thanks for the video , what a fantastic collection of oversea callsigns. Good to see you enjoying your hobby and 22m EFRW Antenna seems to working . Cheers mate 73 44 .

      Thanks Dennis, band conditions are improving and the higher bands are opening up to DX in the late afternoons. The 22m EFRW antenna always works well but it took some effort to support the mast on the beach, 73

    James, Can I ask a question about your 22 metre long EFRW is it a 49:1 or 9:1 transformer iron cores. A half wave dipole is resonant on it fundamental and on every odd harmonic. Just wondering what you used?

    • @vk2ter
      @vk2ter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dennis, I use a 9:1 unun for the end-fed random wire. The length of the radiator of 22m is a “random” length which is not resonant on any of the amateur bands (i.e. the length is not a multiple of a half-wave length of any of the amateur bands). The unun is used to reduce the impedance so that an antenna tuning unit can match the impedance and provide a low SWR. Hope this makes sense, 73

      @dennispeake1877 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vk2ter many thanks for your reply, James it certainly does make a lot sense. 9.1 unun I have been looking for efhw antenna for some time. How did you go with that spark plug un un ? Sorry for asking so many Questions. 73.

    • @vk2ter
      @vk2ter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dennispeake1877 the spark plug antenna works really well and it is great for portable use due to its small size. It is an end-fed half wave (half wave length on 40m) with a 49:1 unun and it is resonant on 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m and doesn’t require an ATU. Not a problem with the questions, I am happy to answer them, 73

      Thanks again Jess for the contact. The band conditions were good with a low noise floor so I had a good copy of your signal. Hope to get you in the log again soon, 73
