I have the 72 set of the Lyra Rembrandt Aquarelles. Set me back AUD $115. I also have their Polycolor pencils in the 72 set as well. Oh, you're going to love that Polychromos set!!! I like watercolor pencils, so I also have a 120 set of Albrecht Durers, too. For a soft pencil, I bought the 72 set of Derwent Chromaflow pencils. For doing landscapes and the like I have the Derwent Graphitint and Drawing pencils. Get all the muted and neutrals colors I like out of those. And, the Chinese white!!! Since I also like working with pastels, I'll be getting the 60 set of CarbOthello's as well, shortly.
Oooh how do you find the Lyra Aquarelles compare to others you've used? I definitely have a weakness for coloured pencils, I just want them all 😄 I absolutely love the Derwent Drawing pencils I have, and I was lucky enough to have received the full set as a gift recently so I can try out more shades! I've never tried the Chromaflow!

And I’m definitely interested in a video where you show more of the faber castell colored pencils and compare them to prismacolor and the luminance 😄✨

What a great haul, you got some fabulous bargains Katie! I thought I had every art material ever invented but I didn't know of some of the ones you've got there. Pentel acrylic gouache? Who knew? I'm sure you'll love the Polychromos pencils, I've used those for over ten years and they last so well as they don't break and the points stay sharp longer than Prismacolor. I also have the Albrecht Durer water-soluble colour pencils which complement the Polychromos, so if you ever get the chance to get those you won't be disappointed. They aren't as vibrant as the Inktense, or Prismacolor actually, but I still think they'll complement your work beautifully. You'll fall in love with the Liquitex paint too, way better than W&N in my opinion and worth the extra cost. Is the set you got the heavy body paints? They have quite a nice matt finish with no streaks and can be used with acrylic gouache if you need the extra colours. Goodness, I could sit and talk about this all day! 😊 Anyway, have fun playing and let us know your thoughts once you've tried things ❤

Auctions, what a great idea! Those Artbars seem so useful, because you have three edges to wear down instead of one tip. Neat... I wonder if they will bring them back now that Neocolors are so popular. That polychromos set is divine! And yes I'd love to see a pencil comparrison video. Well done dad! 🙌

I did some research online and they seemed popular at the time so I'm not sure why they decided to discontinue them - I don't think they relaunched with anything similar! OMG you saved so much money!!! I love the box of Polychromos 🤩🤩🤩 Luminance are still my favourite pencils but think Polychromos have a very good quality, and a lot cheaper 🤭
