I never take the time to comment on videos.. But after watching your video, I was compelled to comment (know, I’m order to do this I had to reset my google password and create a channel of my own- point being- I really had to say this to you). I am a very experienced Hatcher. The reason I wanted to watch this in the first place is I was curious to see how other people handle leg and foot issues with chicks. The first videos I watched before yours made me cringe. They scared me for the littles. However, your video was very impressive to me. You did an absolutely remarkable job with this chick! I even learned something from you (I loved your versions of braces! I’ve never seen the first one- I’m curious about what you made it out of- the one where the first two didn’t fit). Good for you! Clearly, you put a ton of heart into your birds. I do too. It is a rare person indeed that finds value in life like this. Most people would’ve culled this chick. And look how wonderful it turned out. You make it look effortless. Please continue to do things the way you do. Please continue to share. You are helping many people I’m sure. PS love how you used the towel. I know that the paper towel doesn’t offer enough traction for chicks like this. I use a piece of carpeting but it’s hard sometimes impossible to disinfect after and during use. I’m not sure why I never thought of a towel. So, I actually learned two things from you! Thank you very much. I’m subscribing!
Thank you for sharing this video. I have a chick that was born with the same issue yesterday and I'm going to use the same techniques as you, and hopefully her situation will improve.
oh my I had no idea there was a solution to fix the problem... our little guinea is about 3weeks old, is it too late for her, or should we try to fix her.? she eats and drinks good now. she just looks pitiful. severe splayed legs and curled feet .
I had the same problem with mine and he’s leg was all over the place and I used small elastic bands and I did C chap to the plastic two C for the leg and one in the middle , I had it on him for two day he was struggling in few hours but on the second day he was everywhere and I decided to take them off and he was ok and running every where
Can I send you an email or something because I’m noticing similar problems with a baby myna that I found and I’m worried the baby won’t be able to walk properly went older. Is this something you can help with since it’s quite similar just different bird type? I would really appreciate any help.
Thanks for the video. I've a question that whether this problem is heritable or is it fine to make the affected bird a breeder for getting fertile eggs?
I’ve currently got a two day old chick in the same situation (curled toes and everything), except we are still slowly working on washing the membrane off that got stuck on her. She was a mess! We had a hatch of 18 healthy, normal chicks... and then this girl, #19, who got stuck. It’s my first hatch. I didn’t want to assist her too early, but because of that, I waited too long and she got a bit shrink wrapped. I still don’t feel confident she will make it, but she is STRONG, so I’m hoping with help from us, she’ll make it. I’m going to go try your methods here shortly. She loves cuddles, so I may walk around with her attached to my chest like a baby for awhile. 😂 She peeps so much, like our last chick from a hatchery who had scissor beak (she ended up passing away at 10 weeks). It breaks my heart how loud she is because I know she needs something. She’s quiet when I snuggle her, so I’m going to give her as much attention as possible without inhibiting her recovery!
I would really love to know how you made the braces and everything i have a chick that was born yesterday that has the exact same thing as star and im not sure how to help her.
I have a chick with this problem, however I used an elastic with a piece of straw threaded between it to keep the legs underneath the chick. It’s the first day of treatment so he’s not walking, just kinda sticking his butt up in the air? Is this normal?
i have a chick that is about 14 days old that just started having difficulty walking and has been using its wings for balance. unsure whether the other babies did something to her in the brooder, has not had any difficulties until now. also the toes are starting to curl. could this be a vitamin deficiency? i am using the hydro hen 3 in 1 with probiotics/electrolytes/acidifiers in the water each time. no other chicks have these symptoms.
Could be thiamine deficiency . But could be many other Merek‘s disease to be sure if any other symptoms are presenting. Hopefully not. But just to be sure.
Can you do this when they’re a little older I have free range Chickens and one of my Hens showed up with babies. 10 of them she kept them pretty well hidden so I couldn’t tell at first how many she had. One of her babies has the same problem I brought it in the house so I could fix it some how. Is it still possible to fix it?
Curled feet: Don't bother trying to "fix" this unless it's really severe. I ignorantly tried this thinking it was pretty routine, did it too tight, cut off circulation to its toes so when I took them off the toe tissue was dead and it killed the chick. Honestly if it's walking just leave it alone
Stephanie Carrillo It is not to late, but hard to say how to help her/him with out seeing the leg. Do you think the leg is splayed which is causing the twisting?
Star Farms im not really sure dont have alot of experience with this my first time hatching chicks ive been told it could be a slipped tendon or a dislocated hip 😕 wish i could post a pic
i had a six day old chicken it had a bad leg since born i tried your stuff to save it tonight it drowned in its water bowl as it could not get out and it didnt work when i put the elastic on the poor chick kept it legs out back and couldnt walk, its all crap now its gone dead, before that it got around and ate and drank dont do it
it is not the womans fault your chick drowned. You had your water either too deep or too low. It works for splayed leg. I lost few chicks due to splay leg and recently I had one and I did it and it worked perfectly for me. Otherwise the chick would have died. I am happy with her video. Actually it is the best video on the topic. Thank you darling.
Like they say,a once of perversion a pound of cure... I have seen this before.i does work. You have to get at it early like she did. Keep your chin up lady.. it will be ok.
I second that other persons comment. You are an ass and a miserable person clearly. I hope the making of this video puts no merit in your loser comment.
What do you mean it doesn’t work? If you have a brain and are a normal and rational person, clearly you can see it works. I don’t understand this comment. This person makes this easy to understand if you’re not a total idiot.
She's cute.She knows she's a special pet 🐣
✨You are just so loving and caring✨ Exactly the way I am with my babies. It’s so very rewarding to help these innocent darlings❤️
Thank you
Congrats on the foot remedy!
How cute she is 🐣🐤😻
That was very helpful. I was very stressed when I had to treat this some years back. Thank you
outstanding work mom!

How is your chick now?
Thank you for the video but... why doesn’t anyone EVER show the details of the braces?? How they’re made... what they’re made of... how to install???
5:32 thank you for sharing this video. is that DIY or store bought brace?
Wow! You're a miracle worker!
thanku very much I was able to save my little chick bird.
Adorable 🥰💛🧡
Put more assisted hatching videos
Thank you so much for this.xx

You didn't show how. Show the whole process.
Thanks for the video. I've a question that whether this problem is heritable or is it fine to make the affected bird a breeder for getting fertile eggs?
Where or how did you make the braces. You know if you made them you may be on to something

They are made out of shrink plastic

Put a tape,or a fabric over the edge of the plastic so the chicks don't cut themselves
Nice example with the curled feet and painter's tape. Couldn't really understand how you did the brace though.
Where did you place the brace? On her feet or hips.
Good job 👍
Star Please let me know how you made brace ♥️💃💃
Cool man... You have a great 💓
How do you use the splint for curled toes and take it off without also ripping off skin?
Painters tape doesn't have a strong adhesive
Thank you great vidio, does that happen if the mom sits on the chicks instead of the broder?
It happens all the time, also under the mom.
My chick has four toes and its toes are underneath one another or crossed over. I think it also has splayed legs, any suggestions?

Update on the chicken?
Just subscribed!
What did you use to make the brace ?

well today i found a chick on roadside having same issue. i will for sure apply this.
I have a chick that has a turned leg do you think this would work on her or is it too late? Shes 2 weeks
Stephanie Carrillo It is not to late, but hard to say how to help her/him with out seeing the leg. Do you think the leg is splayed which is causing the twisting?

My heart hurts for you. Losing a chick is very sad.

you need to do it on day 1 not day 6.
Like they say,a once of perversion a pound of cure... I have seen this before.i does work. You have to get at it early like she did. Keep your chin up lady.. it will be ok.
Generally I use rocks in the water so it's not deep enough they can drown..
fortnite
You should have talked less and talked more about the techniques how you done this 👎 I gave u a F
thats because youre an ass not because they made a bad video.
I second that other persons comment. You are an ass and a miserable person clearly. I hope the making of this video puts no merit in your loser comment.
its crap dont do it
I did it and it worked for me. it saved my bird who otherwise would have died,
