    Peter,
    I cannot thank you enough for all the documentation you have done over the years to show the life of the keepers and the work done by the entire staff associated with keeping shipping safe. As a result of these videos I've added a number of books to my library relating to light houses. Fascinating history across the world but particularly Britain with the sea fearing history. Wonderful history there. So much to be thankful for.
    Very great contribution by those that actually staffed these remote places and kept shipping safe for the many years these were in service. I find the technology evolution fascinating as an engineer even though certain careers change with these "advancements". So much history and so many advancements in the process. Keep up the great work documenting this very important part of history. Encourage others to add to this important story.

    Very interesting! Not an aspect of lighthouse operation I'd thought about before. I really enjoyed the dramatic in-helicopter footage, too.

    Always great, I was hoping you had a few minutes for a peek inside a couple lighthouses I haven't seen.

      They are great Peter. As a former fisherman I have worked around a lot of these lighthouses and always wondered just what it was like living and working in them. Now , thanks to your videos I know . Thank you 👍

    Another great video. Superb flying skills by the Trinity House (Bond) pilot, I would guess some or most of the pilots were ex military ?

    Hi peter, i was wandering, how often do windows get broken on the towers? Are spares kept on them? Thanks for another upload

    • @PeterHalil
      @PeterHalil  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, there are spares kept on all the Lighthouses, not sure if they are needed often, but that said, the Wolf and Longships were renowned for seas over the top, so they would be more likely to suffer the glazing damage.

    Great video, ground crew must have confidence / trust in the pilot when attaching the straps to the hook. And what do you do for a job? I help service the offshore lights. An unsung essential job.

    Do they still run generators on these off shore lights, or are they solar powered now? Here in the states they use solar power and modern optics. Thanks for the great videos and interviews.

    • @PeterHalil
      @PeterHalil  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that it is mainly solar now here too, but I'm totally out of the "Loop" so can't say it with 100% certainty, cheers

      I believe the Soviets used to power many of their remote lighthouses using RTGs - atomic batteries!
      Not sure what the present-day Russians use, though.
