According to modern lore, they could, and the children would most likely be human. Most lineages that carry tieflings or aasimars don't produce them every generation, with varied chances in each line. Otherwise, they would be one or the other, not both, I think

Demon/Human hybrid used to be called Cambions in the old days.
They still are mostly. A tiefling can be a descendant of a cambion that bred back into humanoid lineage
