I'm Stephie's best friend and loved hearing her story! Also... her guidance counselor DID see greatness. She's an amazing actor AND singer! Love ya girl!
YOU MADE ME LAUGH SO HARD I ALMOST CUT MY FINGERS OFF 😭😭😭😭 i was cutting fruit. but no oh my god agahahahahahaha hearing the story made me wish i went to school with yall
Walter says hello y’all, but I think his new found fame from his story being read is getting to his head - I’ve found all sorts of blank pieces of photo paper around that he says are his signed headshots. He’s selling them for a box of hot pockets a piece.
When she said "bald", I was like, 'That's a very large chunk of the male popul--' and was hit with "over thirty". Then, I understood. It's a very young person. That IS a red flag when you're 18-24. No man over thirty should be looking your way.
I think the most important thing that makes an open relationship successful is the intent of the open relationship. Of course, the boundaries and open communication is crucial but a lot of the Reddit stores that aren't successful are because one partner wants it for selfish reasons, and it blows up in their face (rightfully so).
I need John to know that there was this one time when I went to get coffee from this little teeny kiosk once run by this sweet old lady. She had a framed picture of her little dog there and I complimented him and in the sweetest voice she said, "Thank you! I love him, his name is LSH - Lil Shit Head." Cannot stress enough how much love this woman had in her voice for this little dog. She kept a framed picture at the counter of her coffee kiosk after all. I think of that all the time, so glad that you made it slightly relevant to tell you this lol
I'm so happy the second OP shared their story 😍 as a polyam person, I also get so sad when Reddit says open relationships never work, cause they do and I've been in them!
Why’d it get so many down-votes though? I got annoyed hearing that. Also… when ppl say poly/open relationships never work they have no leg to stand on bc monogamy rarely works nowadays lol
The story about Walter had me laughing the hardest I have at any story. I can only imagine I would’ve done something like this and my mom would’ve laughed so hard after being annoyed maybe a bit that I took it so far. 🤣🤣🤣
To add to Josh on age of consent in Canada in a lot of cases the range also has to do with the older person being with the minor before turning 18. I only know cause a girl i worked with as a teen had an 18 yr old boyfriend while we were 15
Love story 2! It’s nice to see some representation of healthy open relationships. I’ve had many, and could never go back. My fiancé and I are happy with our arrangement and always stress the importance is clear open communication!
Hey guys, loved this episode ! Ouf yeah I also struggle with the temperature conversions, but here's an easy way I found : C° +30 *2 = F° / F° -30 /2 = C°.
with that voyeur story involving a former boss. Im thinking the *true* kink was humiliation, degredation, and awkwardness. between the role play, falling asleep, the little argument. p.s. my answers: twizzlers cherry pull n peel, house centipedes, tarot and astrology tok sad millenial tok funny animal tok.
This episode was so fun! Good job picking, John! It’s always my favorite when we get all 3 of you. 💙 It’s always a bonus if the wives/soon-to-be wife join, too! Also, the tone of this episode gave me an idea…I think it would be awesome if y’all to started an “oops, all funny / wholesome” trend! 😁 It would be especially awesome after the “oops, all sad” episodes lol. I know that’s probably not super plausible on the regular…it’s Reddit. 🤦🏻♀️😂 But it might be a nice palette cleanser on occasion! Just an idea. 😁 Keep kicking ass either way, guys! Finally worked “joining the Patreon” into my budget, which means I’m suuuuuper excited to catch up on all the extra content! I apologize in advance for any “ridiculously late to the party” comments I may leave… 😬🤷🏻♀️💙
Story 4: England's age of consent is 16, the same age you graduate their equivalent of high school and sit for exams to place in college. I have been in threads on reddit where very much older adults are dating young teens who are 16. There's no social stigma to it for many of these folks. So while we think 15 and 16 is predatory and too young, that doesn't mean other societies think the same thing. Especially if the law says it's normal.
I come from a place with no "teenage" so you become an adult when you undergo Right Of Passage (FGM or circumcision) which for girls it's before puberty and boys at 15. My mom used to tell me she started being told she was too old to still be mucking about in school starting from 12 and I got my first "proposal" at 13 with my paternal grandfather being married off to a man in his 50s at 15😢. My cousin got married "late" at 17 and my niece was married and pregnant at 13nand a divorce with a dead baby and son at 17 😫😫. My sister amassed pity at being married at 24 and at 33 I'm considered in marriageable. What the hell is going on around here?? We need to extrapolate life fast.
Regardless of the law, or customs... I think that not having sex with someone who is young enough to be your child, or even younger than your children. Should be standard. Zero percent care about 'well, technically, it is legal'. Nope. It is gross. Kind of another realm of pedophilia.
Yeah but it also depends on the context of the country. Law isn't necessarily everything. A majority of US states actually have the age of consent for sex at 16. Most of them have a bunch of extra laws saying how this is allowed to happen (Like how much older the person is allowed to be) but the majority of the US still culturally feels that that's wrong even if they live in a state where it's legal. And many people in the US even feel a certain type of way about large age gaps with 18-year-olds even though it's legal. Without knowing what country this happened and we can't know anything about the cultural context of whether or not it would be considered actually acceptable by most people.
Story 2: Starting the check-ins beginning with flirting/messaging/emotional investment is brilliant! I think a lot of the other couples fucked with not regarding that as a part of the process and would only get invested right when jumping into the dating/sex part. Which is fatal and does a lot of irreversible damage to the relationship at that point. Kudos to OP and their partner for being responsible *and smart* (one without the other doesn't work). Story 4: I sometimes think about past classmates/acquaintances who brag about going to their high school proms with adult women up to their mid-20's. I was so grossed out by these strange women, but also by the guys... I felt conflicted about it because it felt like victim blaming at the time... Now, I'm realizing I think I got the major ick from them continuing to normalize underage boys hooking up with adult women now that they, themselves, are GROWN ASS ADULTS. 😡At this point, they're part of the problem if they're continuing to perpetuate it. It didn't help that they gave no indication as to whether or not they would've been more mindful of their rhetoric if they were talking to or in the presence of minors... Also, the fact that the nephew still visits his mom for her birthday, gives her a card, then continues to maintain distance, after the mom preying on young boys and being so vile to her son, speaks volumes of the nephew's character, maturity, intelligence, and social capabilities of maintaining proprieties while still being ethical (not enabling or condoning his mother's actions) and protecting himself. I wish more people, young and old, were like this! Everyone can learn a lot from this guy, including his predatory mom!
I had to double check the age of consent where I live (Sweden). We have it at 15, however we have two... stipulations I guess you could call them (like how the US has the "restricted by authority" and "restricted by age" ones as well). The first one is a "position of trust rule" in which the age is raised from 15 to 18 (you're a legal adult in Sweden at 18). Then we also have a "close in age" exception. Example, a 17 year old can be intimate with someone that's 14 years and 7 months (this was a case that went to the supreme court, and the 17 year old was ruled to not have commited a crime)
"If we're not in the right headspace, the other just hangs out with their sex partner." I'M WHEEZING! LMAO! Honey...no...You're the only one just hanging out with them.
My thoughts as well........idk something about that story just gave me the ick. Poly relationships/open relationships can work but this one just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Eventually one or both of them is gonna get tired of such restrictive rules.
Could it be that they allow each other to meet with sexual partners ALONE even though the other isn't in the headspace for their partner to cheat?@@theamazingrico
They trust each other which is the basis of all good relationships. If you can't even trust your partner to be alone with someone who they are attracted to and have had sex with, that either says something about you or your partner.
That isn't someone they "have had sex with". That is an active sexual partner. That is someone who has weight over your partner's decision making. That is someone who is part of your relationship, whether you see it that way or not. If they're hanging out with someone they actively have sex with, that's your partner's partner. That's why open relationships are ridiculous. The second you sleep with someone you like hanging out with, you're looking at another prospective partner. You might as well be poly at that point. Stopping short is dishonesty and a recipe for disaster.@@afikalindegaard3350
Real talk, Walter’s back story gives all green flags, therapy wise. Um GIVEN SHE IS SIXTEEN, not a problem. Sadly i dont think mom is overreacting cause she could have gotten the whole fam involved in legal ish.
It's been 5 years my dog still doesn't like my other dog she refuses to be next to him he comes around and she leaves her name is Princess Sassy she lives up to it every single day of her life... Btw put some respect on her name Ogtha an imaginary friend the disrespect is unreal😊
It makes me super sad that people were just down voting the open relationship story. And I do want to remind everyone that plenty of good open relationship stories exist, it's just confirmation bias. A lot of the stories covered on this podcast have drama or bad situations involved because that's what's most interesting to the audience. They likely aren't exploring subreddits where good open relationship stories are or aren't posting them. (Which makes sense, do what works, but people need to keep in mind this doesn't mean there aren't tons of them out there)
So the story with the predator mom just to give an example of the age of consent, at least how it works in some places, and my guess is OP is misunderstanding, in Colorado the age of consent is either 15 or 16 I can’t remember and you have to be within four years of that age range so kind of like what Josh said if someone is 16 years the older person can’t be any older than 20 otherwise it’s still illegal
Im here to educate on A Court of Thorns and Roses and its NOT porn omg the first 3 books are actually a good story line with a few sex scenes the most recent book ACOSF is the porn book AND it wasnt even supposed to be published the writer wrote herself fanfiction about her series then she got drunk and told someone on her team that said there might be a market for that and it got published. The first 3 books are sooooooooo much better as a trio
Since we're discussing age of consent laws and Josh mentioned Canada being 16 with an age range limit, I think it's worth mentioning how complex America's law actually is. While the typically cited AOC in the US is 18 that's not fully true. At this point federal AOC mainly applies to CP and sexual tourism (both domestic and abroad) meaning you can't travel with the intent of having sex with a minor. But in 31 states it's 16 and 7 it's 17. And in many of those states the laws get really complex with some states having 4 year rules and others having "Romeo and Juliet" laws etc.
Story. 4: Josh is still wrong. He got part of it right. However, The age of “consent” only matters if your parents say it’s OK. Doesn’t matter the age difference. Then you are legally allowed to consent. As a minor, you can’t just consent when you’re 15 or 16 years old. When they say the age of consent is “blank” it just means that you’re allowed if your parents approve of it, if that makes sense. The parents can damn well still take you to court if they never gave consent for their child
Guidance counselors are mandatory reporters and can absolutely fk up people's lives.
both guidance counselors and teachers are mandatory reporters; for better or for worse (CPS and psychiatric)
Accurate
As a guidance counselor I can tell you that yes, we are mandatory reporters but in a situation like this the absolute most that would happen is a psychiatric hold.. wouldn’t ruin anyone’s life lol
I literally screamed about loud when I heard they were reading my story! Ahh!
Congratz!! ❤
That new GOAT sound. 🤣🤣🤣 I'm feckin dying. Brilliant!

The guidance counselor definitely CAN do something. Cps, hospitalization, the cops. All can be involved just from a report from the counselor

New T-shirt that says "I'm with Walter" with an arrow. 😂

Story 1 was everything 😂😂
As a guidance counselor I find this hilarious
It's hard to decide which insect I'd get rid of. It'd either be heartworms, ticks or bedbugs

The red flag things!! 😂😂😂😂
Probably already named by now, but I’m still gonna throw “Lennon” out there for the new kit’s name. She sounds so sweet. Congrats.
2 weeks grounded for the joke on the Guidance Counselor? Worth it.
41:16 the wide eyes reaction made me laugh so hard
Marshmallow Banana had me googling, looks like they might be what I know as Circus Peanuts, yum. Good candy choices all around tho
this is the funniest episode yet, couldnt stop laughing

Just because the law says it’s fine doesn’t make it right. It’s 16 where I live and I’m sure 20+ year olds going for 16 year olds are predators!
Story 4, Sean's face at 41:15. I had to rewind several times. Fucking hilarious!!!!

That sounds like a good healthy ethical non monogamy (ENM) relationship.
