The Endless Summer never captured the spectacular surf Australia has. Probably lucky for the locals. Still one of my favorite surf movies of all time with great sound track too

@@walkcyclesydney1725 I was lucky to spend 3 weeks in Australia, in 2000. Surfed Cronulla, Diggers Beach, and Burleigh as we worked our way north from Sydney. I have been surfing since 67 and travelled to Costa Rica 12X, Mexico, California 5X, Tortolla BVI, Barbados 3X, Abaco in the Bahamas, and many breaks in Florida where I live. The vibe I got Down Under was that you have the greatest country on earth. The people all reminded me of Crocodile Dundy - extremely upbeat and happy. That alone made my trip.
And everywhere I saw outstanding surf and surfer talent. I saw "airs" from my balcony at Burleigh Towers by youngsters and the average Joes that wasn't common place where I surf except by a very few. Your movie captures the best part of my surfing journey - the style and approach your surfers represented. Definitely got me stoked.
Especially the Bells footage. Felt like I just had a good session myself. Nat Young once said in an interview with Surfer mag, around 1969, that you could improve your surfing with mind surfing, when there was no surf. The Animal was right. I just had the best of mind surfing thanks to your film. Pura Vida

Yeah really sweet as guy in first comment remarked.
Even after all these years ,
guys riding the water the wave instead of putting the maneuver on the wave wherever they can. Ride the wave or push the maneuver on the wave.
Genuine , real ,cone thru in movie like greenough matting with wave overthewater
about the ocean energy of the wave.
Bla bla alot of words to say captures some thing real,
Bla bla I mean"something like that'
My favorite times of surfing 69-70.
Liked riding greenough surfboards, here in Santa Barbara.
Never made it to Australia looks so good.

Nothing but rail to rail carving and style like it went out of business . This is better than any surfing today. Style is everything

@@walkcyclesydney1725 one of those boards in the begining was a single fin with the bonzer fins Infront of the single fin if I'm correct. Dude was slashing and dashing. Those boards, you can't ride them if you don't have style. Sickest surf film I've ever seen. Seriously.

The optical printer got a nice workout Phil. Fades, dissolves, freeze frame, slow mo and split screens. Nice edit too and great photography.

Thanks Michael, I was just down the beach today talking to a guy about editing, and I thought about all the stages we did to create fx on the optical printer. Now editing with premiere pro is such a delight I'm glad I am still making films. Phil

20:40 mark. Drop in guy nearly gets speared by the board of the guy he burned. Another reason legropes are safe 😂
