    Also a cause of a P0171 can be a worn out intake manifold gasket! Under that code it can require more research and diagnosing to figure out exact cause! Good video and explanation!

      I have had toyota camrys before with the codes and have bought the oxygen sensors online which is a mistake. The codes came back. I took it to my smog guy and he told me to always buy them from oreillys or autozone "denso" brand. I never had a problem since☝️unfortunately most cases each sensor is over $100 but hey

    I appreciate you taking the time to go through your steps but would recommend against blindly changing parts because there are many and the cost adds up quickly. With a p0171 either you're getting too much air (unmetered passed the MAF) or too little fuel. Given that the combinations could be numerous. The best advice would be to get a good scan tool and learn about fuel trims so you can interpret data. Your friend had experience and could tell it was sluggish and confirmed the fuel pressure was low before replacement. You wouldn't want to blindly replace the fuel pump only to find it was the fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator or clogged injector.

    4 cylinder engines would always have codes regarding bank 1. Only vehicles that would have any codes referring to bank 2 would be V6, V8, V12, and so on with a left and right bank. Bank 1 is the drivers side and bank 2 is the passenger side. When talking about upstream and downstream sensors, the upstream sensor would be bank (1 or 2) sensor 1 and the rear sensor would be bank (1 or 2) sensor 2. You made mention early in the video that mixed up the designation of the sensors.

    Denso fuel pumps don’t die to quickly how many miles did you have on it when this problem started

  • @hightttech
    @hightttech 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Well, all tolled you did ok. Had you gone to a shop, diagnosis fee would have been at least 1 hour; say $120. Then, you would have paid probably $270 for fuel pump plus labor. Ultimately, you still saved a few bucks, and now you have a known-good MAF and O2 sensor in your tool box for future troubleshooting adventures.

      These codes tell you exactly where the problem is. I'm sure it's the oxygen sensor. You have to buy them from oreillys or autozone tho. Never buy them online. They usually don't work. Gotta buy them in person

    I have same check engine P0171 ( system too lean in bank 1). my car toyota camry 2009 LE 2.4 Ltr. I have replaced with new fuel pump, new 02 sensor upstream,downstream both, new mass air flow sensor, new all 4 spark plug. but still the issue not resolved. while I run car for 10 to 20 minutes the error show up. I reset the check engine by OBD machine. but still after running 15 -20 minutes show up again. what else I can do now to resolve permanently?

      Mines an 09, she doesn't burn much when fuel pump works properly. Maybe a quart around 4k after oil change. Lots of cars burn oil. My F350 6.0 doesn't burn but does leak sum. 🤣

    😂😂 Question, you’re not embarrassed that you’re just throwing parts in a car, you say you test the parts but if you truly test of the parts you would know if they are bad, most p0171’s r a simple vacuum leak, FREE!!😂😂
