    The fuse box is within inches of the tachometer. You could find a switched 12V source there. Dielectric grease doesn't conduct electricity, it is an insulator that protects terminals from corrosion in plug connections.

    I am in the process of acquiring a 1968 427 corvette stingray. The car has been sitting for 22 years. I'm told that the engine was replaced with an l88. Your videos are very informative and allows me to understand how to proceed. Thank you.

    Tom, I'm restoring a '77 Vette. I'd LOVE it if you could do 2 more videos, one on how to unhook/clean/reuse the dash wiring harness and the rear chassis wiring harness and a second one on how to remove and clean the power window regulators on a C3. LOVE the helpful hints and tips. I'm going to try removing the headlight and the engine harness myself now! :-)

    • @ProblemSolverGarage
      @ProblemSolverGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will be troubleshooting some of the inside harness in one of my next videos, but I’m not removing it, the main problem with those is you need to pull all the fuses out clean everything and put them back in. There’s no issues with my rear Harness so I’m leaving it alone for now

    • @ProblemSolverGarage
      @ProblemSolverGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And one of my power windows doesn’t work so I will also be doing that

    Great video, easy how and explained things very well. I have just bought myself a 1972 corvette. One of the problems I have is spongy brakes. The prior owner stated that he replaced the master cylinder and booster, not sure on the calipers. Am thinking he must have air in the brake lines. The only thing is that he told me that the brakes were spongy when he bought the car 2 years ago. So, do you have a video on the brake system and how to diagnose them? Not leaks from what I can tell. If you already have a video out please send me the link. Thanks David..... keep up the great videos

    When you installed it, did you check to see if the readings were accurate? How did the old setup read compare to the new? I bought this tach conversion from zip, and it states to use a 53-82 Electronic Tachometer Conversion Signal Generator.. to accurately setup..

    Finally done my. Much smoother action on the tach. Now if someone would make a electronic speedo conversion to the TKO/TKX trans.

    On the fuse panel there is a blade marked "IGN" which is key on power. People usually connect their electric chokes to that terminal but will work in this application.

  • @NorthFloridaOutdoorsman
    @NorthFloridaOutdoorsman ปีที่แล้ว

    I did the conversion and doing it I lost my lights on the tach gauge , I thought maybe it was a ground issue , so I attached a wire from back of gauge cluster to the negative on the battery and the lights in the tach still don’t come on, the speedometer lights work fine

    I had a shop install the tach upgrade. However, when the ignition is off, the needle spins slowly counter clockwise and stops at 5500 on the dial. They didn't have any reasonable explanation except, "when the car is running the RPM is accurate". I connected a feed wire from the reverse switch like in this video and it didn't change the needle behavior. Just wondering if there is a solution or if everyone else is experiencing the same thing.

    Hi there, would this work only on that specific car? Or would I be able to use it on my other cars.

    • @ProblemSolverGarage
      @ProblemSolverGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Should work on other cars too

    • @ProblemSolverGarage
      @ProblemSolverGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry yeah it’s car specific you would need a kit specifically for whatever you’re working on

    Nice one Tom. For poweryou could have used one of the gauges that only work when the car is powered (like water temperature gauge or fuel gauge)?

    • @ProblemSolverGarage
      @ProblemSolverGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you’re right I could’ve, but at that point that stuff wasn’t working yet, I actually just yesterday figured out the problem, but yeah you’re right

    • @ProblemSolverGarage
      @ProblemSolverGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whole bunch of stuff wasn’t working, I scratched my head for a while tested everything turns out the actual fuses in the fuse box Needed to come out everything cleaned up and put back in and then everything worked, just corrosion in the fuse box.
      So when I was trying the positives on the gauges there wasn’t one lol

    • @ProblemSolverGarage
      @ProblemSolverGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everything is working now except for one window on the passenger side doesn’t go up or down, just waiting on a few parts and I can put the whole dash back together

    • @bmwspeedman
      @bmwspeedman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check the clock mechanism. Usually if you wind the clock manually it will work and the issue is with the solenoid coil

    • @ProblemSolverGarage
      @ProblemSolverGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It works but it stops sometimes, I’m gonna open it up and oil all the gears, I’m going to oil all the mechanical gauges inside. I did the same thing in my 69 Mercedes and everything’s been working for seven years now, and nothing worked in that either, everything was dry

    Great videos how do I order parts from you

    • @ProblemSolverGarage
      @ProblemSolverGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. So in the description of my videos there’s links, so you click on the link and once you click on it then I get commission on every sale. Once you click on it that’s it, even if you go back in to Eckler‘s website the next day I still get commission, It remembers that I sent you there for 90 days, there’s no extra cost to you the commission comes out of their pocket.
      Unfortunately they don’t sell the conversion kit for the RPM gauge, I do have a link for that in the description as well but I don’t get any commission from that company
