The fact that John Hudson is experiencing excruciating pain constantly and can still be so thoughtful, well-spoken, patient, and respectful is incredible. I have a minor inconvenience or a headache and become irritable. He’s such an amazing person and I’m so hopeful about his future. I hope this new treatment can give him some relief and restore some of his mobility/independence. I hope a systemic (hopefully gene) therapy is on the horizon.

John Hudson, I'm so sorry about the passing of your dad. Loss of a parent is truly devastating. I lost a parent too soon as well. Strength to you and your mom - you guys are incredible people.
Hello John Hudson! I am donating $50 worth of money to the EB research community. I send this money in honor of your story. It really inspired me, and I hope that you will go far someday. Never let anybody judge who you are! Be proud of yourself! I struggle with spina bifida. It really makes my life hard, but I persevere. Sincerely, Gage H (age 11) Edit from Gage's mom: Gage came home from a weekend away and was overwhelmed by the love and words of support for him and John Hudson both. Thank you all for building him up as you did.
Hi Gage! I’m sorry you struggle with spina bifida. I’m quite a bit older than you but I also struggle with chronic pain from other conditions. You seem like an incredibly caring, kind, and strong young man. Keep going strong, we believe in you!
Hi Gage! What a lovely person. I have a friend with spina bifida. She made it on to Team GB for the olympics, doing hand cycling (wheelchair cycling) and also does modelling. I doubt she imagined that at age 11. I hope you can do wilder, funner things than you can imagine yet :)
I cried when I saw the ending... His dad moved me so much in his second interview when he said that he never ever saw taking care of John as a burden and John laid his head on his shoulder in pure gratefulness 🤍
Look into the eyes of this young man. It tells more than any words could tell. He is a fighter, not for fame, not for glory, but out of necessity. An old man I barely knew told a friend of mine once: "There is nothing in life harder than life itself."
So many ppl admire celebrities and want to meet them. To me John Hudson is someone who deserves my admiration. I would want to meet him just to say how inspirational he is! John Hudson if you’re reading this “You are my hero!”
He’s also really lucky to have his family support and loving community that pushed him to have this mindset He’s very optimistic it’s amazing, cause a lot of people in his situation would just want a way out, not a battle
John Hudson’s mom is the strongest woman I’ve ever seen. I can’t imagine what it’s like to have a kid with such a serious disease. They both really are lucky to have each other. They truly are rockstars

I've also felt really, really hopeless from depression - and I still have depression. But thanks to medicine it's been so... faded? My dad helped advocate for me to try a different antidepressant that his doctor friend had talked about was relatively new still but works especially to help against low energy levels (which was a huge problem for me), and gradually it is really getting better. Who else feels ashamed for complaining about anything after watching this kid? Thanks for sharing his story. I had no idea this condition existed until now.
He's a beautiful human. Just imagine having a disease so awful that TH-cam considers your image "graphic". And yet he remains a beautiful human in every way. I'm donating again. I wish him and his family all the best. Here's to a miracle.
You have beautiful profile picture. I agree with you. He is such a strong dude. Hearing the part about how he was born and had his skin ripped off.. So sad and ouch. I respect the fact that he doesn't hold any grudges. What a good person.
My Mom was dying of ALS and she saw a woman on the Oprah show who had been burned over her entire body. My mom looked at me and said there's always someone else worse off. I have MS and had a bad day then I saw this young man. I thought two things. The first, I thought if he can continue living with love and gratitude I have no right to not see my journey completed the same way. The second I pleaded with the "powers" that be to expedite a cure. A true cure. I wish so much I could take this from him to let him feel the ocean, hike a trail, run free from pain and fall in love. I beg all there is to allow him to be freed. ❤

"I cried because I had no shoes. Until i met a man who had no feet" What a remarkable young man. Dear God, please make this treatment work and give this incredible young man some relief from his suffering 🙏 I will never moan again. 🙏
Q: When somebody finishes watching this interview what do you hope they remember most from it? A: I hope they remember that I'm not the only one going through this. A completely selfless and benevolent answer. You're a good guy John, what happened to you is unfair and cruel, and to top it off you aren't bitter. That makes you a special type of person, I'm hoping the treatment works and they find even better ones to help you, and others suffering from EB.
He also immediately mentions that, when he thinks about how traumatic the experience of his birth was, he mainly feels sad for his parents because of how frightening it must have been for them.
Yes this is so true of John. Amazing human with so much kindness. Hopefully this new treatment gives him and others a chance to live with less pain and itching, more mobility. Research should crank it up! Love to you John (and Romeo)!
John Hudson is one of the most special people on the planet. I'm so glad he's finally getting a treatment that might bring him some relief. Very sorry to hear about his dad passing away.
I’ve been following John’s story for a few years now. Him being the same age as me really makes it more emotional. You can tell he’s in so much pain. I really hope the research continues to help heal EB. I can’t imagine going through this

Reading through the comments, I want you all to know that just because you don't have it as bad as John Hudson, doesn't mean your pain is invalid. We all have our struggles and they are just as real and impactful as they feel to you. The human body and brain are amazing at adapting, and some of us go through unthinkable traumas. But you don't need to be one of those people to justify your emotions, your feelings, your pain, your stress. The thought that "I can't complain because others have it worse" is incredibly self-deprecating and doesn't appreciate you for who you are as a person. Love yourself and those around you! Ask for help when you need it. The only person you should compare yourself to is your past self, because we always want to be learning and growing. Abandon toxic ideas like "I'm not worth it" or "I don't have the right to speak". We can appreciate and share love for ourselves at the same time as we share it for John. We can acknowledge that he has it worse, but also acknowledge that we ourselves may need help or relief. These concepts can exist together!
Thank you curo. Everything you said is true. I feel great compassion and empathy for this guy. The Bible basically states that when one grows old it to teach compassion in others. I don't believe growing old is a prerequisite for that though. I do believe that people come into our lives that are ill to help teach the true nature of love. Without intention he's doing that. Not only to be loved, but to love. We have to show that love to ourselves as well. God bless this incredible, brave young man. I wish him and his family the very best. He one day like the rest of us will cross over and leave his ailing body behind. His soul will go on unhindered and into the arms of total love. All is not lost.
This poor kid's life has been a living hell since birth, I can't even imagine what he goes through every single day... I hope this new treatment really helps him, God bless his strength and his family.
I have bullous pemphigoid. Which is similar but not as bad. I get random blisters all over and my skin is paper thin. Rips so easy. This boy has taught me patience and acceptance. I won’t complain anymore as my disease is 80 percent controlled now. I have harsh medicines but I’m able to get around and work still. This boy is such an inspiration. ❤❤❤
I've never forgot this warrior of a kid from a few yrs ago when I first saw him. An absolute gentleman and a true warrior in this life. I've been a spinal cord injured paraplegic myself since I was 18 back in 97' from a crash. I've always said that mental fortitude is so key in this life and its true for so many of us. I wish i could hang out with this guy and chill, make him smile and have a laugh. My sincerest prayers to him and his family always.
@DoABarellJo I meant what i said and how I said it very sincerely. I'm a few yrs away from 50, and I don't think he would be "offended" by said comment. I know he is literally not a kid now, and when i first saw him, he was very much a kid, so yeah......carry on and troll some more.

I’ve followed John Hudson’s story for years and what always grabs me is the fact that when he talks about his birth, he’s always more concerned about how his parents must have felt. Saying he is an inspiration really doesn’t do him justice, you are just an amazingly beautiful person. I am so happy to hear this new treatment is helping you, I truly am.
I hope in the Joy my Father has in forever healing this child. So that he can run with no pain for eternity. He will shake my hand with all his fingers in the presence of Jesus one day soon. My brother who suffered too much. God be with you.

I’m only a few years older than John Hudson and though I struggle with my own chronic conditions I can’t imagine how strong he is to go through what he deals with every day. I don’t think I could ever be that strong.
I have the same condition as Jonathan and I’m also currently in bed with the fan blasting towards me. I’m so glad that the gel is making a difference. I’m currently waiting to hear about when I’m going to receive this treatment. Just to finally get some relief on my wounds that won’t heal is going to be amazing. I really appreciate these videos. The more people become aware and the more people donate, the closer we are to finding a cure. ❤
It's discouraging to see how much John Hudson has deteriorated over the years, but then the young man speaks... I always come away from his interviews admiring such a noble, humble man. RIP to Johns father and condolences to all who knew and loved him. I truly wish the best for John and his fight against EB. John has an endurance of pain at a threshold I could not imagine. His daily suffering is something hard to grasp.
John Hudson you are a warrior. I know that you didnt choose this battle, but you do choose to fight and not give in, for this you are a role model for all men. Every day that you stay strong and positive, even stoic if need be, is a day that men, including myself cannot give up on our duty to fight the good fight. We cannot quit for pain, despair or for any reason. Your struggle and unwillingness to quit is warrior's story for the history books. The fact that John Hudson is experiencing excruciating pain constantly and can still be so thoughtful, well-spoken, patient, and respectful is incredible. A completely selfless and benevolent answer. You're a good guy John, what happened to you is unfair and cruel, and to top it off you aren't bitter. That makes you a special type of person, I'm hoping the treatment works and they find even better ones to help you, and others suffering from EB.
Life is so unfair.

Exactly!

I've been following John for many years. I'd like to thank John and SBSK for teaching me about this. Also John, thank you for being a big part of the research. You are one amazing young man!
This is a holy person. Exudes grace and love. God bless him and his family.
i am upset with myself...how could i every complain about ANYTHING anymore...or have ever ...? Lord in Heaven please heal this young person. Have mercy and show grace to us all but especially to this young man. Amen
I am literally in tears right now 😭… he has been through SO much. I remember seeing the very first video of him all those years ago and thinking MY pain couldn’t possibly be that bad… knowing hes still fighting gives me strength.
John Hudson: I wish you all the best in life. I’m sorry about your Dad- my second Dad passed away last year… huge air hugs. I hope this new treatment gives you some relief and healing ❤️🩹
Much love, from Iowa
Me 2. This boy is a good soul . He fights with grace . He is a hero for us weaker 1s
This young man has amazed me for years. Living in constant pain and still smiles. You are a hero
God, I'm not even finished watching the video yet but I want to just say, I could chat with John Hudson for hours. What an eloquent and smart guy. So empathetic to others too. MANY other 21 year old guys would do well to be more like John Hudson. Hopeful for the future and less pain and struggle for this family ❤
People who ever feel ungrateful or forget how much you do have then watch this video. Absolutely inspiring.
Very respectfully, this was a tough video to watch. I was taken back when John said that he was fortunate that his hands were in better shape than the majority of his body. This video is very humbling to watch. I wish this man the best.
What’s stands out the most to me are his positivity and appreciation for all things big and small. This guy is a class act.
