      To be honest Bruce bro.. I respect the history behind these blades.. but I am too old and frail now to think about using them for anything else other than picking the stones out of the soles of my shoes !! lol
      Blessings as always !! 🐾🐾

    Nice one Andy - I've learned a bit more about the knife. I speak about it in the book I've just finished. Dad had an original and we've still got it at Mums. His was kept in the shed with all his packs and gear. We'd pretend to be special forces every now and then. Well, I hope you're well old mate - have a great week ahead. Mark

      That's awesome ! I bet your Dad's kit is amazing !! I have quite a few SAS items.. windproof smocks and troosers used around the Gulf era.. I have a half dozen berets dating back to 1970 and a few other items that I know were used by the Unit. I once bid for a rope used during the Iranian Embassy siege.. but the price doubled what I had to pay !! lol
      Have an awesome week yourself dear friend.. I'm headed over to your channel as I see you have a couple of new vids !!

    Wow, that is a crazy knife. That looks so sharp. Do you have any stories of your military days and having to use a knife in a battle. Scary, but I bet very useful for cooking...Maybe too useful!

    • @JimTimber
      @JimTimber  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ha ha ! ..yeah those knives are designed to 'off' somebody as fast as possible !! 😲 ..I have been trained how to use them ..but thankfully never wielded one in battle ! ..it is a very good Shish kebab knife !! lol.. which is a much better use for it after all !! 😉😁 X ..''chilli sauce on that ??'' 😁😂

    Hmm, thanks for the advice but........I always carry a (UK legal, of course) knife, even when I'm off to the supermarket. These F-S knives were also used by US and Canadian forces in WWII, especially by OSS and US Rangers. However, the Rangers got rid of theirs once the M3 fighting knives came around. I believe that the USMC also used them for a while. You may be surprised to hear that American made F-S knives were used by some US Army SFs in Vietnam. The blade shape was to enable it to be easily pushed through the rib cage without sticking or snagging on bone. Your sheath is similar to the US made ones and certainly better than the thin metal tube sheaths with the elastic band around the top and the tabs on the side where it could be sewn onto clothing. A good quality copy here in the UK retails at around £80, an original, depending on condition and model type, go for £250 - £750. Nice item for your collection and goes nicely with your SAS / SBS items.

    • @JimTimber
      @JimTimber  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ha ha ! ..yes that came out wrong. I was suggesting not a good idea to carry a fighting knife !! ..bushcraft knives/ pen knives are another thing altogether !! Thanks for the interesting history on the US SF knives !!.. I do believe I had a US knife when I was about 11. I swapped it for some skateboard trucks I had that this other kid wanted. The knife had a hollow plastic handle that had a screw ?? cap.. you could put things inside of it.. so I presume that it was a survival knife. My Dad found it in my bedroom cupboard and confiscated it !! lol ..It did have a whopping great sharp blade.. at least it seemed that way at my then young age. Thanks as always for all your kind support my friend ! I do like the SF gear and although I cannot afford to add any more bits to mu collection now due to space.. I do love what I have in the attic.

      @@JimTimber Too funny regarding your father confiscating your knife. My dad was the opposite: he gave me a BSA pocket knife and a Buck 112 when I was around the same age. Still have both of them.

      @@Landsturm Ha ha ..my Dad was determined I would not become any part of the military ! lol.. his hopes really didn't work out that well for him !! lol.. well up until my motorbike crash !! 😂😂 That's awesome that your Dad was so cool about the knives !!

    Male babies here are born with a pocket knife, if not, they are issued one before they leave the hospital 😂. When I went to school, we all carried pocket knives but not any more, it’s a sad world we live in. Take care Andy and have a blessed week my friend.

    • @JimTimber

      Ha ha ! ..my Gran gave me my first pocket knife when I was 5.. to sharpen my pencils !! ..she had no idea in her mind that the knife could ever be used as a weapon !! ..she was a practical lady and taught me accordingly ! ..she also taught me how to chop kindling for the open fireplace that heated her kitchen where we spent most of the day when I stayed with her !.. my Mum would have had kittens if she knew what her 'cotton wool protected son' was up to ! 😂🤣.. my Gran was tough !! lol
      Blessings to you too Tony bro !!
