JJ Abrams is Canon, just an alternate universe such as the Mirror universe, and the Kurtzman era is Trek, and - while mileage varies per person - has done quite the job of reviving the franchise!
There was a time travel episode of SNW that dealt with Khan and some time traveling people that messed up the timeline a bit, moving khan and his ugenics wars forward in time a bit.. at least I think that's what happened

Picard was never going to be happy to settle down, so the Nexus created a Timeline where Picard Wins,but will always be needed,but never a perfect life. "We're always have Paris" TNG Season 1 explained why Picard never really wanted a family. Anything involving Picard after Generations is in the Timeline the Nexus created for Jean-Luc.

Worf, the first Klingon to serve in Star Fleet, lived part of his childhood there, but was adopted by humans after his birth parents were killed in an attack on the colony.
Based on the multiple disses, seems this guy hates the best Star Trek series so doesn't surprise me. But you really can't get very in-depth about anything in 8 mins, and they prioritized TOS and TNG. As many casual Star Trek fans ought to do.

I then saw some old reruns on of Voyageur and got hooked. Captain Janeway was pretty awesome and I enjoyed the series. I still need to watch TGN and the original series.
