    I learnt so much from this video. Thanks for sharing....
    I could never think that watercolor could give so realistic colors initially... And color pencils I still don't understand...
    It's lovely... I am going to try it soon

    Love your tutorials. A red breasted sunbird's head is an iridescent black/turquoise. How would you paint that?

      Thanks Bev, I've never seen one, hang on........wow, what a lovely looking bird! I see what you mean about the iridescent colours. I would start with a light wash of the brightest colours in question and slowly build up on the top of these with a more creamy consistency paint and details, considering the tonal values as you go along. Without sitting and working out the colours, sadly I can't advise you on that, but do plenty of colour testing onto some scraps of watercolour paper to get a good feel of the colours you will need. Paul - thank you so much for your guidance - I love your work and your videos! If I was attempting to sign my first watercolor and do not intend to paint over it - should I go with a White Writing Gel Pen or a Signo Uniball pen as shown in your videos - Thank you!

    • @TheDevonArtist
      @TheDevonArtist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much for your lovely words Mary. If you don't intend on selling your work through a gallery, you can use whatever you would like to sign the work. Some galleries are a bit funny with watercolours when signed with something other than a pencil. 🙄
      A white gel pen is ideal for signing onto a darker background, whereas a fine uniball pen is good for a light permanent signature, for me, somewhere discrete. Paul 🎨
