We call this Texas Trash and it is great for road trip food too! I also make a sweet mix that has M&M's in it and coated in white chocolate. I call it White Trash! Merry Christmas!

I made this after church today...Oh my!!! So good!! I packaged part of it up to send to my cousins in Tulsa. They're going to love it!! Just spicy enough!!!! So delicious! Next weekend will be the sweet Chex mix!! I just love your recipes!!

Love it. My gran used to make it with pretzel sticks and peanuts and called the mix, Nuts, screws and bolts. I still remember the aroma of the kitchen when she made it. Thank you and God bless.

We have made it for many, many years also and not just at Christmas, we used to make it and take it camping. Back in the day we used to add the little cheese crackers called Tidbits. Anyone remember growing up with Tidbits?? (Late 70's Kid, Early 80's Teen right here. Lol)

I stopped making Chex Mix years ago...hubby doesn't like it but he is more than happy to go through and get all the pecans, haha! I'm way behind on your videos, this month has been some extreme quilting to get Christmas gifts done. The sewing machine isn't finished and hopefully it will all get done by the 25th. Enjoying spending time in the kitchen with you today.

@ Merry Christmas! My mother made Merry Mix every year. It had 2-3 times the amount of butter and included things like bugles, Cheetos and honeycomb. She was an amazing cook who did not like cooking!!

We love Chex mix. My family and I make a spicy one very similar to yours (but we add pumpernickel chips and spicy cheez-its, swap the pecans for peanuts ), a sweet and salty mix and one called “muddy buddy mix” with peanut butter and chocolate with powdered sugar! I love watching your recipes ❤

it’s just not the same without the pumpernickel chips! And hmmm….spicy cheezits? Guess I’ve never seen those, I’ll have to look for them (I get the extra cheesy ones, my eyes find those and don’t rove any farther. Lol). I have tried the jalapeño ones, the box is a mix of jalapeño and something else, they’re really surprisingly good.
Spicy Cheez Its are the way to go! We’ve been using those for several years and never looked back.

Thank you for another new to me Chex mix recipe. My son loves to play with Chex mix recipes. He's 35 and likes spicy so I'm definitely sharing this with him. Wish I was there to try this I think it's a little too spicy for me but I think the boys and one granddaughter it's probably right down there alley

@@ApronstringsGayJordan I think any Chex mix is good I think we like the savouries the best and a few of the sweets. Yours has just a little different twist especially with the smoked paprika I think they would enjoy that the hot comes and goes different kinds of hot sauce and the spices. We've never had the smoked paprika in our house so that'll be something new and different for us to try

Cheerios shrink up a little bit. It makes the flavor so very good!
I added Honey Nut Cheerios, and honey nut Shreddies along with the Chex, and put cashews for the nuts, and my 91 year old Dad is addicted, lol! He hides them from Mom. It’s a sweet and salty/spicy treat!

I had no idea you could freeze chex Mix! My grandmother used to make several different versions every holiday gathering, and it would make her crazy that I would always dust mine with Cayenne.
Yes you can! It tastes like it was just made. You can freeze potato chips, too!

I call mine Texas thrash also. About the ingredients as yours but I cut the amount of butter . I actually cook bacon and I use the bacon grease to mix with the butter and spices. Tit is different but really tasty and good. Try it sometimes on your family

Open the back door, I am out here with my bowl, fill it up please. You know I bet a sweet and spicy mix would be good, you may have hit on something. When I send the cookies I will send you some of the pepper flakes I use, chipotle chili flakes, you get a nice smoky heat, I buy it buy the pound. I thought I saw my bottle of Worcestershire in the corner and said yah, she's going to use my home made W sauce. So happy you love the W sauce, and I always lick the spoon, such a difference, did you notice a difference in the chex mix. That looks so good, my Mom is the chex queen, but I guess I am going to have to make some of that. I made the best Vanilla cake today, a reverse creaming method, weird way to put a cake together but it totally works, shocked me, I hate taking a piece of a cake when you have company coming but if it was a fail I needed an alternative, could just fill that spot with frosting or cut off the whole long strip and eat it. Thanks Gay now I am dying for chex mix, or another piece of cake.

I once knew an expert baker who, in the 1930's, had worked in the kitchens of English nobility. Unfortunately she took all her recipes to the grave with her. What a waste. 😢🤷🏽
My mom made this stuff years and years ago. She called it Texas trash. Any cereal’s chips nuts or snacks she mixed up before they went stale.
