You have no reason to apologize. Beautifully played. I'm just starting to learn low whistle (long time highland and Scottish smallpiper) and am finding learning to overblow incredibly difficult. You make it seem so effortless.
Superbly entertaining renditions guys, the Phrygian tune has a unique tonal qualities I felt like it never really resolved home like it was always on the run.... thanks you for sharing your music.
BRAVO. Well done. How this got 2x dislikes I cannot for the life of me fathom. Those folks should go and get a low d whistle and try to play that fast. My bets are they pass out before homers' reel's even half way through.
I have a Goldie Overton Low D which is what I think you are playing. I know how damn hard that whistle is to play! You make it look easy! Phyrgian is one of my favorite modes. It doesn't sound a bit rusty - just passionate - and it's cool that you are playing an instrument outside of its original intended key and mode. Bend every musical rule you can find. You're amazingly good!
Kick ass!!!!!!! Bad to the bone I like this alot, I was trying to show. My wife that beautiful music like the Carpenters and still's and Nash and Debbie Boone styles of music can be played with the low whistle, but can't find any such American music on TH-cam with the whistle, but I love this video anyways,
gday mates that was bloody great never heard the phrygian mode played on the whistle like that amazing and mate you can play the heck out of the guitar.i'm blown away and yes i cant stop dancing to this :) cheers
Can you please tell me what brand low whistle this is? You guys are the reason I started playing four years ago, I saw you playing that old Furze in Bloom reel, bought a low whistle and practiced until I could play along with you (I started on a regular tin whistle). Now I'm making my own music, though I'm still not as accomplished as you! I am sure you hear stories like this all the time, it must be so rewarding to know you've had such a positive impact on people's lives all around the world (an Australian living in Michigan) just by doing what you love! I so admire you for that!!! :D
Frances Gibbs Hi! It's a Chieftain (by Phil Hardy. Website: KerryWhistles.com). Non tuneable, in the key of D. On the back it says "KWL CHIEFTAIN", I guess it's an old model. That's so awesome, Frances! :D Thanks for sharing your story with us and please keep on tin-whistling! ;)
you probably dont give a damn but does any of you know of a method to log back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost my account password. I would love any help you can offer me.
WOWZA!! I think this is my 100th time I've watched/listened to this video and it makes me smile EVERY TIME!! I can't get over the talent you two have...and TOGETHER, it's a masterpiece. I can only hope to play this even half the speed on my whistle but I'm determined to learn it even if I am slow at it. Inspiring! BRAVOOOOOO!!!
You're playing is so inspiiring! I guess its a combination of the creative guitar rhythms and the tight whistle ornaments - and always faster than any of us mere mortals can play! I really like your sound. TW, you are Da Bomb! Cheers from California
Art&Lutherie acoustic guitar? I have one dreadgnout ...good and no expensive guitar. You play very well an the whistle make a magnific work. I like this song. Congratulations from Spain!
Hello TinWhistler, so glad to check in on you after many years away, you inspired me to play whistle, and are still my favourite!! Working my way through all your new videos now! Thanks so much for all the music, I really enjoyed the second tune (your one) its really compelling! :) Lots of love
j'aime bien ce genre de musique et je suis heureux de voir qu'il y a encore des jeunes qui font de la musique style traditionnel .... alors continue je t'encourage ;)
Wow this is really beautiful. You certainly know how to get a nice rhythm out of that guitar, and the tone of the flute is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
First video, instant subscriber. I'm just researching how I can get a low tone out of a wind instrument while keeping it smaller to be able to carry around easily. Awesome guitar and flute/whistle, I've been fascinated with wind tones lately and can't wait to get into it.
You cant get low and small whistle, if whistle is small then his high not low, if you want low whistle than he have to be long, he have to be long to be low, that is how it work.
+M0VI3GUY You can also adjust the tone to a lower register just by widening the cilinder of the flute/whistle etc... If you make it wider, it'll be lower, but there won't be a huge difference. Just a little piece of advice ;)
UuuuAAh!! The phrygian tune is great!!! I was thinking exactly the same a little time ago about playing somethig in this mode, and I see you have been faster than me. It's really cool. I like a lot.
PJ, I feel like you only write that a tune feels rusty or was played badly because that's your way of saying you're better than the majority of people on the planet at the whistle. haha this was amazing though like always
Otro exelente video Tinwhistler !
Hi, I also started playing a lot more after hearing these guys play and invested in a low d whistle. But after ordering home both a chiftain and a Goldie I actually decided for the goldie. What's the difference then? Well, a chieftain is fabricated, and has a more windy sound than a goldie has. Goldies are all handmade and the sound is much more...rigid, clearer. The air is more tightly squeezed through the pipe! It's a matter of personal liking as always, and I liked the Goldie better :)
This is so ridiculously good, I can hardly play my low whistle slowly and here's you making it look so easy!
I find myself getting lost in a continuous run of your videos, and that's awesome
It's a Chieftain in D. They say Goldies are the best though.
You have no reason to apologize. Beautifully played. I'm just starting to learn low whistle (long time highland and Scottish smallpiper) and am finding learning to overblow incredibly difficult. You make it seem so effortless.
They're both mint! Look at the ware on the guitar!! My man! SAVAGE! Now THAT'S a rhythm comp CHAMPION!!
Every now and then we always come across some gem, lucky for me today I hit the jackpot :)
Superbly entertaining renditions guys, the Phrygian tune has a unique tonal qualities I felt like it never really resolved home like it was always on the run.... thanks you for sharing your music.
Man, I can't stop dancing to this! Especially The Phrygian Whistle. Love it!
Dang! Incredible playing, both of you. And it is a very cool and interesting composition.
BRAVO. Well done. How this got 2x dislikes I cannot for the life of me fathom. Those folks should go and get a low d whistle and try to play that fast. My bets are they pass out before homers' reel's even half way through.

Phryggin great! So amazingly--love the guitar and whistle together. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome playing!! This is my favorite... especially Phrygian whistle. Incredible!!
Thank you!

Love Homer's Reel and the Phrygian Whistle is fabulous too. Really different but I like! Congrats.

So inspiring, guys! This is super fun, and top shelf. Kudos from Nashville!
Super interprétation les gars, le rythme est bon et entraînant, aucune fausses notes. Merci pour ce petit moment de plaisir :)
IN-CREDIBLE!!! Both of them are great but WOOOOOOW!! that low whistle playing.💯😲💯😲💯😲💯😲💯 Maqnifique!😍👌🏼 ❤❤❤❤❤
Fantastic!
I love the Phrygian tune, and that guitar stop at 1:55 is really effective.
Real music played with real passion. Thank you for sharing :)
Dudes, that is a rocking set of tunes. Nicely done!
Such a lovely combo. Just missing the folk drums !
you probably dont give a damn but does any of you know of a method to log back into an instagram account?

Just listened again. Phenomenal F#@king phrygian tune. Love the explosive guitar accompaniment.
You're playing is so inspiiring! I guess its a combination of the creative guitar rhythms and the tight whistle ornaments - and always faster than any of us mere mortals can play! I really like your sound. TW, you are Da Bomb! Cheers from California
I know i'm a few years late to the party but this is amazing and i hope i will be able to play this myself one day... Thanks for making this
Thanks and good luck!
Art&Lutherie acoustic guitar? I have one dreadgnout ...good and no expensive guitar. You play very well an the whistle make a magnific work. I like this song. Congratulations from Spain!

Nice precise 'half notes'!!!! well done. A pleasure to watch your finger work. Very inspiring.
Woot! Nice playing on that low whistle! Great guitar, as well! Sounds good!
Brought a tear to my glass eye "......good on yer lads well done

Hey, this Phrygian whistle tune i very good, also played with fire. Thanks guys.
Prometeu nada e entregou tudo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Ah! Collons, que sois catalanes. Y yo estrujandome el coco en inglés inventado. Enhorabuena; sonáis de maravilla!
Jeje, gracias, pero somos mallorquines.
Thanks. I think maybe you're right. It sounds really good. I didn't expect a Chieftain NR to sound so much like an Overton/Goldie.
Wow this is really beautiful. You certainly know how to get a nice rhythm out of that guitar, and the tone of the flute is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
You are simply impressive man! I know I've listened to this 10 times already. Please keep making music, you are great at it.

That is why low whistles are high and long whistles are low
M0VI3GUY the only way to do it is get a reed instrument like a clarineau (pocket clarinet). reed instruments can be low when small.
Thanks, good to know bud.

the sound groove of the rhythm guitar is simply amazing

Rusty? Sounds amazing as always.....You two should come to the Australian Folk Festival some year...you would be praised to the heavens!

How it go? I started with Low D, a bit of a pain but you can work through it, it's all in developing the muscle memory
