- This is a promotional video of the very first Bullwinkle’s Family Food N’ Fun in Santa Clara, CA that was made to sell franchises. I’ve decided to upload this in celebration of the 39th Anniversary of the restaurant chain! It features the prototype stage show, The Fantasy Fountain, and tons more, enjoy.
The person who designed this particular restaurant needs a SERIOUS raise, literally every inch of this store is a masterpiece.
It’s a shame we will never have family entertainment restaurants like this ever again. I miss these kinds of places. My kids and my kids kids will all miss out
Chuck E. Cheese is all we got. There was a place in Miami called Dandy bears but closed this year.
It's still open
There is one in tukwila Washington. Called family fun center
Oh yes there will be family restaurants like Bullwinkle's again.
@@stanfordite1Bullwinkle location's are reopening as the company that runs Bullwinkle arcades has been making boomers restaurants back to Bullwinkle location's. In tukwila they kept the Bullwinkle's name and have recently upgraded the place to look more modern but keeping the nostalgic items(the tukwila location has animatronics)
I miss this place so much... took my daughter for years! Made me cry but its because of my of my grown daughter, who gave me a wonderful grandson!
So miss this, loved all the characters from Bullwinkle including Bullwinkle himself, Rocky, Boris and Natasha. The pizza was pretty good and the games were so much fun ( especially the ball play space).
@Sets, Streets and Eats is posting a video of the only remaining show left!!
I spent many Saturday nights at this Bullwinkle’s as a kid. It was across the street from Pizza and Pipes, another great family restaurant with a full pipe organ inside. They played the Star Wars theme a lot over there, too!
I remember Pizza and Pipes as well. Ate there a couple of times. I'm pretty sure it is no longer there. At least I don't remember seeing last time I was in that area.
I went to pizza and pipes too!
@@nicholasmcgreevy8313 For some reason, we seemed to have much better pizza parlors back then.
Jake's in Saratoga is still around, thankfully.
Even the big chains like Round Table used to serve much better pizza than they do now.
3:08
Showtime!!!
My parents would take us here instead of Chuckie Cheese they said the pizza was better but it was because there was beer and wine.
This place certainly was far better than Chuck E. Cheese.
But the pizza WAS absolutely better too! It was my first job and I worked in the kitchen. Oh my gosh was that fun. I’m gonna go preheat the oven for a pizza now! Ciao
And it's named after an Iconic Cartoon Character
Lol
Never knew about it until way after it closed
Holy Moly!!!! YES!!!! THE OLD SHOW’S FOOTAGE HAS BEEN FOUND! THANK YOU! I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO SEE THE FIRST BULLWINKLE AND ROCKY COSMETICS!!!!!
God bless the person who uploaded this! My mom planned all my bdays at Bullwinkle’s and this brought back so many amazing childhood memories!
Thanks for posting. Brings back memories. I'm a bay area native, and went to this place many times in the 90's. Loved the vibe.
They're reopening the location on Upland, CA. Everyone go! We need to keep this family business up and running.
I worked at that location 86-87 had the best time of my life there!!
It’s nothing like this video it’s a crappy mini golf with none of the Decor
Ooooh! Is it the same owners? Will the pizza taste the same?
@@psykoselyeah and I believe no animatronics will be there
Noooooooooo!!!! Really!!!! ❤
Glad to finally see some good quality footage of Tennessee Tuxedo and Chumley in this show.
Oh man, the talking Boris and Natasha heads above the stage were the stuff of nightmares!
Yeah... I went there once as a kid and that memory sticks with me.
@@JamezMorrizProjectz I know I couldn’t recover
@@Pinkythelabratfan Natasha scared me as a kid for whatever reasons. Now I watch Rocky and Bullwinkle and I think she’s kind of hot for a cartoon character haha
I am so happy the Bullwinkles in Upland is re-opening again. I still love that place so much.
I'm so grateful to whoever found and uploaded this video. As a kid, I never got to visit a Bullwinkle's, but I heard about it and always wanted to see it for myself. I think there were not any in driving distance of my home, or at least what my parents were willing to drive. This feels like an almost-complete tour of what I missed out on!
Yeah plus the place wasn’t in the U.S I heard so no wonder
@@gwenmloveskpopandmoreit was
@@coolkid57456 yeah I know I accidentally commented that here lol it was supposed to be about woody wood Chuck lol in Canada
Thank you for sharing 😊 Brings many good memories…. What a time to live in Santa Clara!
My dad would have loved this place if he went there because my dad grow up watching Rocky and Bullwinkle and that's his favorite childhood cartoon
I went here in Santa Clara, CA many many times
Thank you so much for posting this. The quality is incredible and many generations to come will be able appreciate the wonder that was our childhood with places like this!
Thanks for this video upload! I grew up in the 80s in the area and this was my favorite place to go that my mom would bring me to. I remember eating the pizza chicken and waffle fries and watching the water show. And getting to play at the awesome arcade afterwards. I remember playing this frog game for tickets where you fling like a pinball around a course into a frogs mouth. The atmosphere and theme there was great! I can picture the entire place still!
I worked there in 1987, as a busboy/game room attendant. Every weekend that place was packed. Birthday reservations left walk-ins waiting in line to get in. I remember you were not technically allowed in alone if you were under 18. I hated wearing that hat, although on two occasions, drunk dudes offered me $50 for the hat.
*wAs ThAt ThE bItE oF ‘87?*
Now I REALLY want a Rocky and Bullwinkle Star Wars!
Back in the day when we had some fun and entertaining places to visit.
8:49 The first and only time I've ever seen a two-tiered arcade. Was here back in '94 with my sister and her friends. Miss the place terribly.
Note that this prototype stage had the red curtains going up and down, whereas future locations had them opening up from the middle out to the sides (horizontally), and thus the loopy things actually stayed there no matter what. In this video, because it goes up and down, the loopy things disappear when the curtains close because they go to the floor.
Loved having my birthday parties there as a kid and watching the fountain show.
I remember my Dad taking me to the one off the 405 freeway to go play Mini Golf, the Go-Karts, and the Arcade, then we would go inside to watch the show and eat pizza and salad bar
I took my now wife on our first date there to play mini golf and the arcade, seems like forever ago
That place is now just a destroyed mess of rubble and sadness.... they had the best Mini Golf course
I know he was saying "Aw shucks", but it sounded like he was saying "aw fuck."
I used to go there as a kid. Some family friends, their kid had his birthday parties there. The first few were at Chuck E. Cheese, but after they found Bullwinkle's, that was it for Chuck E. Cheese.
This place was awesome. I remember it had such a cool arcade with mine shaft. Good times.
I KNOW! it's just Dudley's specific voice.
I honestly cannot thank you enough for posting this video! I used to go to the one in Huntington Beach as a kid, and it was my favorite. Such great memories, and birthday's I had there. Thanks so much for posting.
I miss this place. I had birthday parties here many times as a young child. I agree this family entertainment is a gem and i miss it so much. I wish my kids could Have come here.
At least we still have CEC and ofc sadly we just lost dandy bear this summer
Anyone remember the waffle fries! They were so delicious!! Good times and Great memories!!!
Wow the the prototype stage was so cool. Glad to finally see some footage of it in action!
I preferred the other locations because they had horizontally opening red curtains instead of these lifting ones
Gosh this was super nostalgic for me!! Thank you for putting this up
If only this place still existed, nice video of the stage and characters.
There are still three "Bullwinkle's" in existence, but only ONE of them still have an animatronic show. And that's in Tukwila Washington (pretty much Seattle). It only features a one-stage (only Rocky, Bullwinkle, Boris, & Natasha), and has no water show. It's the later "town" concept so a different look. The animatronics are in decent shape but they don't look like these ones up here. They're the third generation. It's the final show left!
@@cristoferchanimakDid the third gen have fewer movements? I notice that in all the footage of them that Bullwinkle has not nearly as much fluidity.
MECO STAR WARS DISCO?? phenomenal icing on an incredible cake
lol
One of my favorite memories as. Child. Celebrated many birthdays there. Just wow. Im flooded with memories now. ❤❤❤❤
omg this is my childhood bullwinkles! After it was closed it seemed like nobody ever heard of it, but I went here a LOT in the early 90s. Years ago I went diving on the internet seeing if I could find this place but it seemed to just disappear to time, until I found this video just now. Thank you so much for this!
Many fond memories of this place. Two awesome birthdays spent here.
Thanks for uploading. Loved the Bullwinkle’s in Federal Way, WA! It was always my favorite over CEC and Showbiz. Great memories. I wish we could have this back!
What can I say Chuck E. Cheese and Dizney world opend their doors for a lot of Places Such as Showbiz pizza great wolf lodge Major Magic’s Mystery fun house Bullwinkle Fun center monkey joes ECT
I am an absolute shock, I used to go to the Federal Way Washington one as well and had a birthday party there in 1985 when I was 7 years old! For a long time it was A pier 1 imports and then a phone store.
Fun Fact: There was a Bullwinkle's in Hawaii on the island of Oahu right down the street from the dunn-dunn-DUNNNNNNN.... University of Hawaii. It was very popular. However, either the owner didn't want to stay a franchise or, what we believed in Hawaii was, there was a copyright conflict since it seems there was some cartoon character named Bullwinkle.... so the name changed to Moose McGillycuddy's.
And in case none of these name sound very "Hawaiian", keep in mind that if you were a real local, you probably bought your car from Schumann Carriage, your mattress from McAllister's, and got your new tires at Lex Brodie's.
UNDERDOG
the bullwinkle the restaurant is based on *is* the cartoon character though??? im confused
I used to go to this one when I was a kid. Good times. Man, I wish the 80's didn't have to die.
Loved coming here as a kid. 5 dollars lasted all day!
I miss Bullwinkle's. The one I went to was in Orange County. Thanks for uploading this.
I remember when my dad took my brother and I here when we visited our grandma in California during our childhood in the 90s. We only went to the restaurant twice, but it was lots of fun!
I also remember when I used to watch Rocky and Bullwinkle and the other cartoons on Cartoon Network back in the day.
The fountain show looks spectacular, but it looks like a disaster waiting to happen whether it involves damping the curtains or damaging the animatronics.
Miss this place in Edmonton so much
My childhood! 😭
This rules! I had my 25th birthday at Bullwinkle's in Upland.
Bring this back!
I have heard of Chuck E Cheese before Five Nights at Freddy’s, but I never knew Rocky and Bullwinkle have that kind of restaurant. 🤨
Childhood Memories💙🙏🏽
I wish they can bring it back in Santa Clara. Restore, rebuilt, remaster. Maybe they’ll put a memory picture of the late June Foray.
Yes I really miss Bullwinkle's!
Aww that was my Bullwinkle’s. God I went so many times
Wow they had a water fountain I didn't even know they used to have that.
Can we bring this back
4:16 litterlally my favorite character in bullwinkles
ThatS Dudley, do right if you watch the cartoon
The Star Wars part is my favorite
4:52 Chumley's Line.
This is REALLY cool!
I see you every where
5:15 Tennessee Tuxedo's Line.
It's not fair that I never got to go there! I've always loved Rocky and Bullwinkle and all their friends! I know they're cartoons but sometimes their the reasons why I wanted to make my own cartoons! I really hope the place is available so Daddy and I would be able to have lunch and be entertained by Rocky and Bullwinkle and their friends! And I wonder if I could get some prices they're probably it will be just like coin Castle from seaside heights but different! I really hope that someday they would make a much better Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon much better than the one on prime because that one was terrible! Sometimes I wish I could hear the story of how Rocky and Bullwinkle came to be before the first met! That would sound like an adventure wouldn't it!?❤
no idea but i believe if you dig around audio of the showtapes is available :D
Always insisted on eating close to water show. As a kid, the mist and getting hit with rogue drops was cool and fun. Simple mind, simple pleasures.
As a kid I used to freak out that the water would make the animatronics wet. Of course they didn't haha.
Oh my God a good memory finally a good memory
It upsets my youth restaurants don’t use animatronics anymore.
I was scared af of the animatronics as a kid lol. I have a picture somewhere with my cousins on stage with them 😭
That’d be real cool to see if you can share any Bullwinkle’s pics!
Used to go to the one in Upland as a kid in the 80's. Was always a tease when we went there just for the batting cages as part of little league and having to have to walk past (and ignore) the bumper-boats :)
I worked cooking chicken at northridge ca Bullwinkles while in High School - Later as I became a parent - would take my kids to the Pomona (I think that’s the City) Store . . . Great Times !!!
Actually- Upland Ca - Not Pomona
I went there a bunch when I was a kid! I remember the tokens had slots in them, and all the games had little groves in the coin slots so only Bullwinkle's tokens could be used.
4:14 bro Fr "what the f***"
This brought back some serious deja vu (I spent my childhood at the Santa Clara Bullwinkle's). ...on an unrelated note does Dudley say "oh f**k" at 4:15 or is that my imagination? X-D
Sounds like oh fuch.
It’s fudge, the voice is just wonky
Ok so I wasn’t the only one that heard that! 🤣🤣🤣
Man, I got so many stories from this place! I worked there in 96/97. Tales of food dropped on the floor and put back on the tray, make-outs, blow jobs, etc. All sorts of great stuff, lol!
Speaking of Bullwinkle's Family Food n' Fun, I made a recreation of this in Minecraft.
This place was my holy land!!
4:19 cracks me up 😂
4:14 Did Dudley *SWEAR* or is it just me
Edit: ok he said fudge (brownie)
I lived across the street from the one in upland I would go all the time was so much fun
5:58 Star Wars Music
How did they get the rights to play that music? Wass Bullwinkle's owned by the same production company that produced Star Wars?
1:13 YOU’RE BACK?!?
I probably went to 3 or 4 birthday parties here. I think they turned it into a night club or some shit, really brings back some great memories.
We had one in Myrtle beach SC, had my first two birthday party’s there, got my PlayStation 1 that year for my birthday. Damn I’m old 😂
I never understood why Boris and Natasha were designed like that. Are they disguised together as a flying bird!???
I can smell this video.
This was my childhood. We had a 2 story Chuck E Cheese’s up the freeway but we didn’t care. THIS experience was much much better. I always saved up enough tickets to get myself a light up yo-yo. The food was much better too! Those waffle fries were a family favorite. Sucks they turned it into a strip club. I wonder if that Church’s Chicken is still there. Best place tho for kids in Santa Clara/San Jose by a mile! 💯📠👌🏾
Are you referring to the Tully road Chuck E. Cheese?
@@coolkid57456 if it’s the 2 story one then probably 🤷🏾♂️
OMFG Santa Clara Bullwinkle's!!!!
Miss this place. Used to go to the location in Fountain Valley, CA.
@6:14 They went with Disco Star Wars..?
"Time tested" apparently haha
R7 dreamcast field trip
Seems odd for Rocky and Bullwinkle to share the stage with Tennessee, Chumly, and underdog...they were competitors...TTV isn't the same as Jay Ward
really cool!
Not a big Fnaf fan but I always thought it would be funny if whenever it becomes public domain in the future someone opened a real Freddy's Pizza.
5:15 Right You Are! Also who’s voicing Tennessee Tuxedo is this?
Considering that he was still alive around this time, that could've been Don Adams reprising his role
Happy Bluegrass Hopper
Got a whole, brand new roll of tickets from a machine that an employee left open. Me and my cousin nick got tons of prizes.
It breaks my heart that I will never be able to experience this restaurant again. I have so many fond memories of this place when I was a kid. I guess there are a couple of Bullwinkle's left in the US, but they are a generic design lacking the rustic charm of the original series of restaurants.
Blew Chuck E. Cheese out of the water! Yet it didn't survive :( Was a sad day when they closed in Santa Clara but unforgettable memories :)
I don't remember a fountain show at ours.
They were installed at most 3-stage setups. I don't believe they existed in the 1-stage set-ups.
@@cristoferchanimak makes sense
Underdog, and Tennessee Tuxedo are in Bullwinkle's band? They're not even Jay Ward characters
They had the licensing rights to both the Jay Ward and TTV properties iirc. One of their totem poles outside featured Odie Colognie from The King and Odie cartoon show
Before any of you ask, the Santa Clara location is now a club.
it WAS a club, it’s now some doctor’s place
@Garbage Guy the original building is demolished
I think all of us should get together and recreate Bullwinkle's by opening one of our own! I mean Chuck E. Cheese is still going strong, so why not Bullwinkle's? We can add a speed raceway go-karts too!!! Who's with me?!
@@nimrose-ali-jiwani-agarwal PIZZA & PIPES WURLITZER
TOO
I wish I was born in Santa Clara, ca in the first bullwinkle’s restaurant….
I wonder how many Bullwinkle's Family Food N' Funs opened. All I know is the first (Santa Clara, the one in this vid) opened in 1982 and there are only 3 left as of 2023 with 1 having an animatronic show (Tukwila, Washington)
21 or more
@@PasqAnimatronics Interesting. Thanks for the info!
OMG! So many menories. I don't remember the salad bar though. I guess I was focused on the arcade games. The place was SO much nicer than Chuck E Cheese. It was better run and the food was better too.
At 5:58, the background music is actually ripped from a disco star wars record
