I really wanted to play that game when I was a kid. I knew Friday The 13th was terrible, but I really liked the premise of A Nightmare on Elm Street, since it was based on my favorite film entry "The Dream Warriors".
@@janX9AWESOME! Hope you enjoyed it if it was your first time watching it. If it's not, hope you still enjoy it. I like it because it was a chance for the Elm Street kids to fight back in some sort of capacity.
@@TANKTREAD yeah, it's an all around good movie. It is almost more cinematic than the rest of the franchise. Not that I don't like the others. Fact is I actually like the entire franchise including the TV series.
its amazing how many things are missed. Gremlins has video games. So does Ghostbusters. someone already mentioned A Nightmare on Elm Street. You didn't do a lot of research for this did you? Godzilla has a fun game too and could inspire some fun costumes. But I can see how it might not fit since its fighting off alien invaders and not as clearly horror.
This is a pretty pathetic list. If it was titled “ Ten random horror games” instead of top ten maybe it would have made more sense.. But to call this a top ten, and then list some of the worst games ever.. even by the video creators own admission.. It’s just clickbait content milling.
Oh man, this video came up in my suggestions. Was not expecting those Lost Skeleton of Cadavra quotes in the beginning. That's been one of my favorite movies for twenty years!
Castlevania is an obvious and great choice for #1... But I'm shocked and a little upset that your top 5 didn't include Monster in my Pocket or New Ghostbusters 2
Why you didn't mention Home Alone 2? This is the pure survival horror with the weird atmosphere and need to be careful with saving bullets. I'm not kidding! The game actually has a lot of similarities with the modern survival horrors
UNIVITED is an honorable mention just because of that... Event with a certain Mrs. Scarlet. Who is now a revenant. Also, oh yes! I remember Pastor's Quest and Wizards in Warriors fondly. XD
I noticed that as well. Yeah, not really that scary of games either. I think Friday the 13th on the C-64 was a lot more scary than the NES version. Something about that blood-curdling scream and classical music score that gave me a little fright as young boy.
I would have put Monster in my Pocket as an honorable mention. Surprised not to see that. Great list though. My f Personal favorite creepy He's game I have completed is my Timewalk Games Blood Red copy of Sweet Home translated. What a masterpiece.
oh believe me there are tons of horror games for the nes. these to just name a few but many more out there. Homebrews: Haunted Halloween '85 Haunted Halloween '86 Nes Games Skull & Crossbones Aliens 3 Alien Syndrome Bram Stoker's Dracula Frankenstein The Monster Returns Hell Fighter Dr Chaos and there's more to be heard of and unknown nes games never before played.
Your list has “Pastors quest”… For a year now without fixing? Also, please explain the logic of this list you call it a top 10 list which would indicate the top best games, but begin with a bunch of games you say are horrible. Dr. Jekyll is considered one of the worst games horror or not from what I understand so how is it in the top 10 list is this just a 10 list of any horror games on the NES just a feel content ?because that’s what it feels like.
Yeah. Not a lot of stand-on-its-own-merits horror NES titles. Castlevania, Werewolf, Ghosts and Goblins, even Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde; I'll allow games like those since the creatures in them are public domain. But Addams Family: Fester's Quest, Friday the 13th, Bart vs. Space Mutants, nothing but cash-ins.
I'll be honest, and unfortunately I can't be more blunt than this: This video sucks. Not only listing non-horror themed games and a poor choice of horror themed NES games (How could you not list Monster Party, Sweet Home (Japan only, but It's why Resident Evil exists.), Dr.Chaos, Drac's Night Out (Un-released, but surprsiingly good.), or the other NES Addams Familt games) but also It feels like you're just reading off wikipedia articles.

so you didn't played them and just repeated some negative reviews to the games - professional youtuber, cut off your internet cabel 2:10 - you have to pay to her money you have collected into 'demonic world'

A werewolf holding an American flag. What more could you want from a game ending!
not sure if i missed it but i wonder how Shadowgate and uninvited on nes would hold Up in your eyes
I was surprised Maniac Mansion didn't make the list.
Nightmare on Elm St is super underrated imo. Played through it numerous times as a kid.
I really wanted to play that game when I was a kid. I knew Friday The 13th was terrible, but I really liked the premise of A Nightmare on Elm Street, since it was based on my favorite film entry "The Dream Warriors".

@@EricPatno did you ever get to play 4-player! That would be awesome! 👍
I so want to but sadly I have no friends to play it with me.
🎃🎃🎃 This is such a fun watch!
You’ve inspired me to revisit some classic NES spooky titles and make a list of my own for HALLOWEEN ❤❤❤❤
You should!

The two of my top games was Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th both I fully enjoyed
I was expecting ANOES to get number 1. It didn't even make the list?
ShadowGate
Metroid
Nightmare on Elm Street
Oh man, this video came up in my suggestions. Was not expecting those Lost Skeleton of Cadavra quotes in the beginning. That's been one of my favorite movies for twenty years!
Castlevania is an obvious and great choice for #1... But I'm shocked and a little upset that your top 5 didn't include Monster in my Pocket or New Ghostbusters 2
The NES port of Ghosts n Goblins was developed by Micronics
Werewolf is just, bad.. Hey, that's not a Cyclops in Ghost 'n Goblins, that's a Unicorn(*rolling eyes*).
The werewolf end screen looked like deathclaws ultimately won in fallout.
Why you didn't mention Home Alone 2? This is the pure survival horror with the weird atmosphere and need to be careful with saving bullets. I'm not kidding! The game actually has a lot of similarities with the modern survival horrors
How did Shadowgate not make this list!?!?
literally the best NES horror game is sweet home, which has to be patched for a fan translation. not even a mention
Now that’s a scary game. Especially when you come across the messages in the corpses. Definitely ahead of its time.
Thank you for mentioning this. Agreed.
Well, he did say no Famicom games would be on the list
UNIVITED is an honorable mention just because of that... Event with a certain
Mrs. Scarlet. Who is now a revenant.
Also, oh yes! I remember Pastor's Quest and Wizards in Warriors fondly. XD
Guess Astyanax didn't make the cut
All of these games except two are considered good, and even then they are pains more than fun.
Also *Pastors Quest*

Only licensed games too bad cuz Chiller is definitely an excellent horror game for Halloween night!
Fun fact. There's a Friday the 13th on Atari 2600. Your Mike Myers, and it ROCKS! ... for the system.
What? Are you confusing franchises or is this one of the earliest crossovers in modern horror history?
Lol at 4:10!
...da FUCK you say bout my mama???
Shadowgate is the best Horror game on the NES in my opinion. Gave 6 year old me nightmares.
I would have put Monster in my Pocket as an honorable mention. Surprised not to see that. Great list though. My f

Feel anyone who doesn't list Sweet Home in their top 10 NES Horror games either never played the game or just outright dislike RPGs.
@@nullprime2757 He stated at the beginning of the video that this list only features NES games and not Famicom games.
Terrific video! ❤
What about Alien 3 ?
No Univited? You are literally in a Haunted House.
oh believe me there are tons of horror games for the nes.
these to just name a few but many more out there.
Homebrews:
Haunted Halloween '85
Haunted Halloween '86
Nes Games
Skull & Crossbones
Aliens 3

Bram Stoker's Dracula
Frankenstein The Monster Returns
Hell Fighter
Dr Chaos
and there's more to be heard of and unknown nes games never before played.
No Frankenstein?
great content, thanks for the video. It earned a sub from me.

#1 A Nightmare On Elm Street
It seems that quite a lot of them are based on movie or TV-series licenses.

No Sweet Home?
That one went against his no famicom rule
A Nightmare on elm street was another one missed
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is on the list but Nightmare on Elm st. isn't, ok.
damn that room sounds empty, get some curtains or something
Sweet Home is the best
I love friday the 13th
Aardvark? Really?

Was looking for the dr.chaos mention. Monster party as just an honorable mention, FOH. 🙄
I'm missing Shadowgate.
AVGN hate most of this games
It would be better to just get the mans name slightly wrong, than do the watered down, slightly racist, "Foreign names hard" joke. Cringe.
