Century Golem is what it is, a very simple game that looks good and is engaging as well. And yeah, i don't have splendor anymore, i really see the two games occupying almost the exact same game space and i think Century does it better.
I love this game. One of the most played games in the collection since it plays fine at two. After a long day of work and kids sometimes the wife and I don't want a super competitive or interactive game and during the first stretch of lockdown we went to this or cartographers most nights.
Not sure if it was clear but I think the convert action is allowed to be used multiple times with one card play if you have enough required gems convert. Completely changes the rhythm of the game too!
Yeah, i should have made it more explicit. I kinda wibble around it and don't spell it out. In my defence, this week has been trying to do my day job full time while also trying to look after the baby full time. So im a bit of a mess, lol
Had this in my hands yesterday and decided against it, Came home and found this video was just posted haha. Looks like I made the right choice. It appears to be a great game but too light for my own tastes. I picked up Terraforming Mars instead. Thanks for another great video.
can you tell me which one is right about this bonus card effect from century golem edition , its says "when you playing a card with this icon , you may return a previously played merchant card back into you hand".. i'm little confused about how it works .. which one is it ? - can take any 1 merchant card from player's discard pile or - can only take the last merchant card we played ( top card on the player's discard pile )
Two years ago, you said you liked this more than Splendor. Fair to say that's still the case? (Particularly given that you chose this one as a GMG but not Splendor...)
I played the three and found the second one is the most brain-burny but time-consuming... The third one is good but the first one is the best... Any chance of combining the first one with the third one?
I own Century: Eastern Wonders, as I heard it was the best standalone game of the three. I quite like it, despite it feeling a *bit* longer than it needs to be. I've been meaning to find a copy of Spice Road to combo it with, cuz the idea of splitting your resource engine between a deck of personal cards and the area-control-esque islands that everyone plays on sounds quite interesting. I know nothing, still, about the third game in the series, beyond it being... worker placement? I think? so I have no idea what mechanical wrinkles mix-n-matching that one in would affect things. I do prefer the fantasy reskin of Century: Golem which came out after I bought C:EW, but not nearly enough to put money down on buying the same game with different art.

Any non-yellow gems also count 1 victory point each for end game scoring. Great game :)

My Wife and I love this, it fits in well with Splendor and Wingspan.

When you draft a card from the middle, does it go to your tableau? Or does it go to your hand?
Hand for a trade card, scoring tableau for a golem.

@@3MBG Just tried Century 1+3 (Golem edition). It surpasses either 1 or 3, making it a more strategic game than 1 alone.
