    We really like the original but haven’t been sold on the sequels. I noticed that some of the Golem cards in this one have repetitive artwork while the Golem cards in the original were all unique.

    Was setting this up with the base game for my group's game session tonight and then I realize it only plays up to 4 when we have 5 players. Assumed it plays to 5 since the 1st of the trilogy does. I was so disappointed as I repacked it. Well at least everything fits in one box so I can chuck one of the boxes and save some shelf space.

    What a coincidence, we should be recieving our copy in the mail tomorrow. The first one was the gateway game for my wife and shes obsessed with it. She doesnt know it yet but we're taking baby steps towards heavier games like Caverna and Underwater Cities.

    On the bright side, Plan B games has finally gotten themselves into the 2010s, with a functional web page and store, which seems to have loads of stuff in stock and despite being in Canada, ships fairly quickly. They had the playmats in stock when I looked last week, and this game actually has 2 playmats, to make sure you can play the combined game or even just 2-3.

    I picked up this game on a whim at a local game store and love it! Fun and easy to learn with great art.

    I have had this game on pre-order since July 2020, knowing it would be a Q4 release. Hoping it is here soon. Can't wait to have the collection complete.

    I have no problem with an Endless World, just so long as it is not an Endless 2020 World. 🥺

    Now that Century has all three games in the Golem edition, I wonder if they will do a space theme next? Like a Merchants of Venus edition?

    The first Golem edition is a big hit with my group, so I'll probably end up getting this one as well.

    I wonder if this is gonna replace Stone Age & Waterdeep as the go-to gateway worker placement, especially if it's got less stuff to upkeep & less rules overhead

      The original Century games really nailed the theming, especially A New World. Golem edition components and art look pretty, but I still prefer originals for the theme/immersion.

      @@DaleKeefer interesting, I thought the Golem edition displays the conversion & production more clearly on its illustrations. Plus the matching sets of gems on each golem pic

    Still don't like the way the publisher handled the communication around the two lines; Century and Century Golem Edition. Golem was communicated to never be a full trilogy which pushed a lot of people to the regular century line as the intrigue of all the games working together was half the appeal to the series. Then after, they came out and said - okay we are remaking all of them in Golem Editions.

    • @RetroMaticGamer
      @RetroMaticGamer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      People are allowed to change their minds, especially when sales numbers suggest it might be a good business decision. That said, the publisher never once said they wouldn't expand Golem Edition, nor is there anything wrong with people who chose to buy and play the original trilogy before Golem expansions became available.

    • @KristopherJamieson
      @KristopherJamieson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@RetroMaticGamer actually they did this was the exact quote when the first was released - " Hey folks! I'm getting loads of PMs and messages all about if we're planning on doing sequels or expansions to Century : Golem. I don't want there to be any lingering doubt or confusion ----
      We have absolutely no plans on giving Century : Golem a sequel or expansion. This will be a stand-alone game."

      @@KristopherJamieson yep... that was the plan not to release other titles after the first Golem one, which was released because the artwork was already done when it was still called "Caravan", under the ZMan umbrella prior to it's purchase by Asmodee.
      ... but fans wanted them to continue the series nonetheless.
      ... so they did what the fans wanted and released the sequels in Golem versions because they demanded it.
      The company adjusted by listenening to their fans, and it's a bad thing because of miscommunication?
      They should have communicated that they listened to feedback by fans before the feedback was even made?
      How's that possible?

    • @KristopherJamieson
      @KristopherJamieson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@martinlarouche4418 in situations like this there will always be a divide. I'm not saying the decision was wrong or right. My opinion still stands that I don't like the way they handled the communication around it. They never had to release multiple statements in many different forms saying Golem will be a standalone game and in some cases a CON exclusive and if you want the combination aspect you will have to buy the original line. Statements could have been crafted and words chosen more carefully to leave it more open and not so definitive.

      @@KristopherJamieson 100% fair take away. I have a friend who did the same thing, even trading away his Golem Edition because he knew the trilogy was on the Spice Road side with Golem just being a one-off. I think here, Plan B games made the right call by listening to their customers, but had to accept that they would leave some feeling disappointed with the change of direction and going back on statements they had made. I think the right approach here is just to apologize for the situation and just own it all. Not sure if they are defensive about the whole thing or not. I far prefer a mea culpa than the defense brigade.
