No biggie that they mentioned he was a womanizer. The stories told on him since his death in the last 60 years was his Addison's disease medication made him want sex often and he was with several women every day. True? Exaggerated? Who knows? but if it was even partially true people would talk and it would be well known, and yes 60-year-old women would gossip about it.

I would place far more blame of modern political hate on partisan television news, on both the right and the left, than on cartoons, even if in bad taste. Until the 1980s, laws existed that news broadcasts had to present both sides of political issues and remain neutral unless “editorializing” opinions were announced first. Unfortunately those laws were removed, under heavy political pressure of George H. W. Bush which has led us to the cable TV “opinion over fact” entertainment news networks we have today.

However, even if I strongly dislike and disagree with a candidate, I do not want to see them assassinated or violently injured in any way. I was only 4 when JFK was assassinated, but I was 9 in 1968 when Martin Luther King and Robert F Kennedy were assassinated. It was a very bad thing to happen to America. If you don't like a candidate, then don't vote for them! Yes, I think Francis Bavier and the other actress's comments were out of line and downright tacky!

I guess just more proof that this actor really wasn’t Aunt Bea in her real life! I totally agree that her comments were of bad taste to say in public in that moment; especially coming from an actress that famously demanded respect and professionalism on the set and was so easily offended when her fellow cast members fell short of her expectations. Fair enough if she wasn’t a “Kennedy fan” but, based on some of the stories I have about her, she likely wouldn’t have appreciated such comments if Nixon had been the President and had been killed. To me, much of the beauty of that time was that television personalities steered clear of partisan politics and immature behaviors on air. I honestly do not know of Walter Cronkite’s personal or political feelings about John F. Kennedy but I really believe he would have still removed his glasses to wipe the tear from his eye if he had been in the situation of report that Eisenhower had been murdered.
