Beating Shadow of the Erdtree from a New Character in Under 2 Hours

- I think this is the world record for the fastest DLC completion from a newly created character.
I used the lightning bottle and the rolling sparks ash of war, which are very powerful. I followed the rules of the "glitchless" category of speedruns, and only utilized allowed techniques such as a Stake of Marika to get to Starscourge Radahn faster.

Forget Miyazaki saying it's as big as limgrave, Shadow of the erdtree feels like a sequel.
Yea it’s definitely large in size but a lot of areas are empty and so many enemies are reused throughout each area. It’s just missing some small things that keep it from being a perfect 10/10 imo.

@@kadirjp8838 when you break an enemies poise it staggers them, letting you get a critical hit(riposte). during the critical hit you cannot be hit by anything (s). you get s by doing certain actions. rolling is the most common.

Going back into watching souls speedrunning and watching the speedrunner close the game each time he opens a door makes me remember why did I stopped watching these runs in the first place...

edit: also wouldn't it be quicker to go to messmer via the loft grace? skips the bat/fire guy section and having to raise the statue etc.

Using a base game weapon that is upgraded with Somber Smithing Stones, such as Bloodhound's Fang or Death's Poker, would probably be even faster than Rolling Sparks, even if it isn't nerfed. The setup time to get Rolling Sparks functioning is very long, compared to getting a single weapon and upgrading it to +10. The only problem is that all the DLC fights are very easy to die in when you're rushing through the game, so it will take a lot of practice.

@@MitchrizI actually was running DP on my build thru the base game, then couldn't get it to work well against the speedy early DLC bosses but it was my goat against Radahn

I ran bloodhound fang through most of the DLC (Dancing Lion, Rellana, Midra, Putrescence, Scadutree Avatar, Gaius, Metyr) before swapping to backhand blade for Messmer and Romina, since it's a LOT faster. But to hear you say using Bloodhound's Fang throughout means I learned the bosses is a feather in my cap. My mindset was "big number make big damage"

Weird. I couldn't get the night cav bridge cheese to work. He just spawned back up on the bridge after jumping off.
That version of the cheese can be a bit clunky, he'll sometimes just hit you off randomly and can take like 5+ relogs to get it to work properly, I prefer the other cheese strat invoking the kukri throws. If you don't know it just look it up on TH-cam, once I learned it I can hit 100% of the time and feel like it's quite a bit faster than the reloading rng strat

I have beaten like 3-4 bosses with the parfume glitch. But messmer was impossible. I just couldn't parfume murderlise him

For SOTE only speedruns, would it be allowed to set a common level for everyone to start the run at? Because having to start a fresh game and kill mohg and radahn every time you wanna speedrun the dlc seems very tiring and time wasting. Great video as usual

I understand where you're coming from, but idk that it would work well. Each class differs enough that standardizing levels (level 15, or like +10 levels over base level) could encourage selecting only one or two classes to optimize for time/certain weapons or requirements. Not standardizing levels involves each player generating their own save (kinda sketch).
Maybe have Radahn and Mohg dead on start up and give the player the runes and their graces? Idk, that probably has its own issues
@@Im0nJupiter the level could be standardized at 150 for example, and if a class turns out to be optimized so be It, i don't see a problem with that, as long as the DLC hasnt been entered within that save and you only have items from the base Game.... I think that'd be fair
You could do that, if you wanted. But it would be arbitrary, which generally doesn't make for an appealing category to a lot of runners. Usually runs that allow you to use a pre-made character have no restrictions, like you could use a max level character for a NG+ run. But a max level character would shred the DLC, and make the run kind of boring.

Bruh, moderators don't make categories, runners do. Just run the category you want and if the moderators don't make the leaderboard for it they are stupid. Also you can just make your own leaderboard. This is pretty common in other games.
I'll repeat it again, moderators don't make categories. The point of moderators is to keep the race fair, not to be gatekeepers of what is fun and what not.

Yeah, it's a world record as far as I know. But it's not an official category on the leaderboard yet, so it's hard to keep track of.

Ocarina is shit compared to majoras mask. MM was real quest lines. Not like in ocarina where you have to go from point A to point B In couple of minutes

I had fun with lies of p until the last couple bosses where you have to perfect parry everything or you lose such bs.
@@JosephWalker-ip7pd oh man those last couple are soooo bad. I will say I thought the mansion with the lady spider enemies was pretty dope. Everything else felt like really generic. I loved the weapon/handle system though.
@@JosephWalker-ip7pdyou can dodge the entire game, honestly a skill issue. I’ve done a run where I only parried, and a run where I only dodged.
@slothorne8222 the frustration started to outway the fun toward the end is all I'm saying. Up until the level where you run up that beach/sand level and go through those ancient looking ruins I had a great time. That level is tedious and the boss lady on the bridge drove me up a wall.

I will never understand why people think speed runs are impressive. Its literally find thing that does most damage and spam it. To me that doesnt take skill.

Dude, post hoarfrost stomp nerf but pre zips speedruns were very skillful. People actually had to perfectly no hit the boss. Most players don't have intricate knowledge about the internal poise break timer resets for bosses but speedrunners do.
No only are they skillful but they know more about the games mechanics than anyone else other than hardcore pvpers
put these foolish ambitions to rest, tarnished
Lords of the Fallen was fun people like this are annoying. No clue about changes a game has made only talks about the day one experience.
