  • I went for a local 6 mile hike and stopped for brunch along the way - this was the first time I've tried any real sort of cooking on a hike, might try something sweet next time :D It was nice to have a sunny day for a change, as much as I love being a drowned rat haha
Big thank you to those who have purchased prints from the WildBeare shop this week! They are in creation and will be shipped out early next week :D wildbeare.weeb...

Hi Claire, I just want to say “nicely done”! What a great way to spend the day in the countryside. I’m 70 years old ( old fart ) and still do the same simple things as you did here. You’ve got a good eye for capturing fantastic nature pictures, and the brunch... sooo good! Thanks for sharing!

Great to watch you on a sunny day. I’ve watched about a half dozen or so of your videos (so far) and I think the weather has always been terrible. Rain and wind. You always seem happy and enjoy the simplest pleasures. Those are the real pleasures (from an old guy in Vermont). Keep it up!

When I was a kid, the big thing for the summer holidays was a three-week family camping trip. Often this was to France, but on this occasion would be a tour around the north of Scotland. All six of us were looking forward to a great holiday.
We had a family tent that was so big it came in two bags: one for the canvas sections, and one for the frame. It was a great tent, and we had all the gear to go with it, accumulated over several years. We'd done this many times before, so were all set: car, camping trailer, roof rack, camping gear, food, clothing, everything we needed for the three weeks.
After a very early start and a full day of driving, we arrived at the first campsite, tired, and ready for bed. My parents unrolled the canvas, ready for the frame, and my dad went to get it from the car. The frame. The frame? Where's the frame?

Looks like you had a great day out.
Really liking the content you are producing, great combination of hiking, camping and enjoyment of our great countryside plus fantastic compositions shots.
The gimble makes a big difference to the waking shots.
The brunch looked soo tasty, must have been so much nicer than normal hiking food of muesli bars! Did you have a washing up bowl in your pack also?
    Looking forward to next video.

Excellent cooking here. I have this romantic notion of biking to coast, (Scarborough is ideal) hanging over the rails and catching a fish, Makeral is the usual there, then cooking and prepping it with some prepared potato slices create a makeral and potato- esque meal, bit of salad, mmmmm yummy. Keep up the great work. It is very inspiring. Just coming out of a bad Covid bout, so catching up on all your videos.

I've had many failures in my life, hopefully we learn from them. I've had two major fails camping high up in the Glider's, Snowdonia. One of my favourite wild camping locations; views of Snowdon, Tryfan and the Glider's a really beautiful pitch. First time I walked up from Joe Browns car park got to the campsite pitched my tent blew up my mat and went looking for my sleeping bag; I forgot to pack it; very cold miserable night.

I failed to break into a grade 3 section of river rapid whilst kayaking and instead of shooting the run facing where I should be going, went down backwards. Made for an interesting paddle for about 400 metres before I found somewhere to break out. Learnt a good lesson, don’t let nerves get the better of you and if you mess up, keep it together and look for a way out, it was some of the first grade 3 I had paddled on Alpine rivers so pretty scary at the time.

    Hallo miss...Wildbeare,
I have once forgot my paracord for my tarp, so my shoelaces did the job.
I have once booked a bed&breakfast that was bankrupt when I arrived. So I asked strangers for help, got some food and they took care and found another place to stay. Man, I was so without energy standing at a closed etablisement.
I once made a fire in a bushbox and woke up in the middle of the night, cos i set tiny roots on fire. I will never ever do this again!
I once "shot" the seeling ring of my sawyer filter down a hill while shaking it dry. Since then I will never do this again.
I once did not take care of secure my tarp...and it "flew" away in the night.
    Sorry for the bad english.
Oh, btw: I use petlings (pre state of plastic bottles) for oil and stuff.
Greetings from Germany - Grüße aus Deutschland

I went camping with my family and some friends and probably 7 out of 15 of us kids brought a tent. Well about 11:00pm it started sprinkling. Well I was very choosy about where I put my tent, well at about 1:00am I started getting knocks on my tent door by other kids. Their tents were soaked and pretty soon I had about 9 kids in my 3 man tent but we all slept good.

Not my fail camping....but friends of ours (a couple) failed nearby us.
They decided to bring a two roomed BIG tent to camp with us, by the coast.... on a remote farmers 'dry stock-bulls' station.
(We had a nice sized 3 man domed tent with cooling vestibule etc)
We all went fishing for the day, then came back only to see friends tent tangled/ripped/destroyed!!! They had left one of the doors (zipper) open...and well, a curious Bull had gotten spooked while inside?
What a mess!!,...we managed to jerry rig the tent into a much smaller size, and continue our holiday lol "Bigger is never really better"

Watching this while debating what I want for dinner, turns out I’m having sausages, fried potatoes, bacon and eggs 👨🏻‍🍳

Just had one this weekend, failed to parch a small hole in my rain fly and had 50 mph winds and heavy rain. Woke up with my sleeping bag and clothes all wet.... will make sure I check my gear before heading out next time...

That was a LEGEND of a brunch!! Great job keeping the pan on the stove by the way! Were you out somewhere near The Ridgeway there? Ivinghoe Beacon?
