For a company losing customers and selling less bikes, it would seem to be a no brainer that raising prices is the last thing you’d want to do. Good call, HD Corporate. Not. 🤦‍♂️

@@JohnnyMan316 unfortunately this is the way of life. Everything goes up. I don’t think Harley increase prices just for the heck of it, but to continue to pay for overhead. I did 2 plant tours of Harley and not only are their employees are happy but the equipment is state of the art. Harley is a for profit company so the cost is passed on to the customer. I don’t know any company that drop the cost of their products. Take a look at Honda and Indian price increases.

I’m glad I got to ride during the years that I did. Harley Davidson was still about riders and freedom. It was still an American company. My wife and I shared many moments together riding, our love growing in the wind. I’ll miss those days. I’ll cherish the memories.
    RIP HD

If Lexus Automotive said "We are no longer building Lexus cars, if you want a Lexus, you have to buy a Toyota, and make a Lexus out of it....and it's going to cost you more!"
Lexus people are not going to do this, they are going to buy another luxury car plain and simple. Harley Davidson just gave the Honda Gold Wing, and the Indian Challenger a brand new customer base.
If the Limiteds aren't selling, then the obvious option is to make less of them, or make it a special order from the manufacturer, but you don't throw away your flagship motorcycle. This is the same mistake Dodge is making with their Charger models.

HD and Indian are both on the slow painful road to their own dimise. They will both become parts and service centers only. The writing has been on the wall for a few years now. Aging customer base, prices are over the top for most folks, and the young kids are not interested in them. Most of them don't even know what a Harley is. No BS!

Im glad I bought my 2019 road glide special this year (bought it used with 13K miles on it). I looked for a long time before pulling the trigger. I wanted a very specific look and it couldn't be bought as a factory bike from Harley. That concept was a 2019 or 2020 Road glide special in Scorched Orange. It also had to have the tour pack and lowers added. I was specific that I wanted the Special because I wanted the blacked out parts, and also wanted the stretched bag look. FInally pulled the trigger in august and have really enjoyed the bike for touring. We put 5K miles on it in 2 months. As a bonus, it also had the Ohlins suspension front and rear, Klockworks windshield, and Stage 2 audio with minimal engine mods. Yay for me..I have no desire to move up to the 24+ models. I personally dont prefer the all digital gauge package. I like the version I have with the analog gauges AND the screen for map, etc. If they go thru with the concept of a base model Road Glilde/Street glide, and then "upsell the packages" I think its a win for the harley biz, but NOT for the people who want to buy them. Cost will go up to buy the bikes and package them they way they want, AND they wont get that back in resale later if they want to upgrade to a newer model. Just my 2 cents.

Funny how other companies can sell you a whole car for the price that Harley sells a motorcycle. There's something very wrong there. After owning, riding, and working on Harleys I can tell you there's nothing premium about the build of these bikes and definitely not more tech, engineering, or materials cost than a car yet Harley charges the same. Motorcycles used to be way cheaper than a car. I bought my first brand new Harley for $6,500.

My 2016 is in excellent condition, has everything upgraded. The only thing I'm missing from the new bikes is the RDS system and I don't trust that. I want to be in control of my bike, not my bike trying to over ride me. Harley is trying to make it so you don't have to understand motorcycle riding. Their trying to make it so anybody can just hop on and the bike will correct there mistakes.
I decided to have my CVO professionally turned into a trike with features Harley doesn't even offer (independent suspension with sway bar, 10 inches longer for a much better ride (for my wife's back), a second 3 gallon gas tank and a much smoother body with a larger trunk. The BONUS... it was $25,000 less than a new trike!! People say it looks like it came from the factory. Sorry Harley, I'll keep what I've got. There's nothing for me to gain except a monthly payment.

  • @bryaningham2391

Harley will lose in the end. The lineup has taken the flagship bike and made it a package because they can make more money that way. Everything from color to chrome or black dressing costs something on every bike making the whole starting at 22k on the website a joke when building a bike. Whats next, select your frame and then nickle and dime you on every little thing added to it? Not too long ago, you bought off the floor at a decent price and then customized it with HD parts and accessories as time and money would allow. That was some of the allure, customize it and make it your own. They are getting too expensive to do that anymore. Glad the used market is healthy, cause the new market is becoming a joke..

My riding days will soon be over. I'm 10 years from retirement age and don't see myself selling my bike to get a trike. Also, I'd like to enjoy my sunset years having fun. I seriously don't think in 10 yrs if I unfortunately were to be involved in a "tumble" I don't think I'd want to spend the rest of my days recovering from it. Love my Harley, love riding with buddies but I'll soon be hanging the my riding boots up. The new generation of young people don't really seem to be interested in riding much. I hope to see it change.
