    Great job and video! How dirty was the oil pan inside? I saw your previous videos on sludge inside valve cover. I have similar sludge problem and planning to clean valve cover in a similar way, but I'm a bit concern about being able to do this job with sub frame and oil pan. If you had no leak, do you think it worst doing all that work just to clean the sludge that you've seen?

    where did you put sealant exactly
    under or above the gasket
    dirko is a great sealant ? do you need to let it dry before fitting the oil pan or did you fit it immediately
    what do you think about permatex sealant as i don’t know if dirko is available here in france

    • @L-Noble.YT_Hi.Res-Soundminds
      @L-Noble.YT_Hi.Res-Soundminds 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Permatex is good. I have used plenty. Put silicone gasket maker on both sides of gasket, very very thin bead on both sides between rubber ridge on the gasket. Permatex you do not need to wait. Apply to the gasket and install the gasket and tighten oil pan. No worries by the time you finish putting the car back together it is good to go. Just put the new oil last. 👍

  • @borizh
    @borizh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think it’s interesting that you also applied a sealant... which sealant did you use that can perform at the operating oil temp?

    • @Tritont325i
      @Tritont325i 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was applied for application, he used it As glue, not a secondary gasket.

    • @borizh

      @@Tritont325i yes, I understand. I was just curious as far as which sealant he used. I didn’t use any and no leaks yet.

      @L-Noble.YT_Hi.Res-Soundminds 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can hold the gasket with two tie straps on each corner to hold it on place you don't have to tighten them all the way just enough to locate the gasket. Then when you hand tighten at least two of the bolts just cut then off and finish putting the rest of the bolts for the pan. You can use a very thin bead of silicone sealant on both sides of the gasket in the middle of it between the two rubber ridges on both sides. Remember thin is the key, you don't need excessive because once the gasket compresses the sealer will squish and you don't want a silicone mess and you don't want any to go in the oil pan. You can use any color rtv silicone gasket made for oil but I would use the red high temp silicone. More heat protection is better. The OEM gasket is rubber and fall apart after a while. If your gonna go thru all this trouble might as well make it last longer with no oil leak. Hope that helps. You definitely want to take your time and do it right.

    @ 14:00 minutes in the video are we looking at that black-plastic-tit-looking-thing. What is it ? Does it suck the oil into the system ? I pulled a bunch of hose like material out of there. It was fragmented stuff. Maybe it was an old oil filter, from before I got the car.
    The car ran fine before I started this leaking-oil-project.
    Your video is the only one I remember giving a good visual on the stuff behind the oil pan. Thanks.
    I wish I could show a picture of the stuff I pulled out of the tit-thing.

      Sar Bachan the material you pulled out of there was from an old shredded drive belt. Bad design in these, oil leaks develop from the oil filter housing gasket and drips down onto the drive belt, drive belt slips and gets pulled in through the front main seal and ends up in your oil pan. This must’ve happened to the person that owned it before you.
