    Hey Sean. Nice Tutorial. Can you do a video on gospel movements that revolve around Barry Harris 6th diminished scale? It seems like hearing wise a combination of inverted 6th and diminished chords are in those translations. In other words, it seems to align with how Barry Harris invites musicians to rethink all scales with 8 notes as opposed to 7....using the #5 in the major scale. Hope my post is not rambling too much, but I think there is something in his lesson that connects with this Tutorial and I think more of us can benefit from your transcribe approach to reveal the gem of Applied understanding in there to improve as a community. Some are more auditory than visual to absorb explanations of theory and how it can empower more to achieve

    Sean, you are an outstanding teacher. How do you know when and how to apply different scales and modes when playing? That's the mind-blowing thing that has made me study gospel. I feel because I am not in a gospel enviornment (if that makes sense, if not, what I mean is growing up around church cats that play crazy and gospel basically), my learning curve is slightly steeper.
    Is it just intuition or did you go to school, or...?

    • @SeanWilsonPiano
      @SeanWilsonPiano  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, I did not study music in school, I was playing and working on ear, but let TH-cam be your new gospel environment. It takes a while to adapt to the gospel sound, pick a gospel song and study it

    • @tonylancer7367
      @tonylancer7367 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SeanWilsonPiano Thanks for the response Sean. I usually have trouble with the various ways of using tritones and passing chords, especially since I study '90s gospel (which I believe had a lot of them and more).
      Though, it would be nice to know what songs are considered the staple so that I can gauge my level. I know hymns are one of them, but there are so many ways people approach it, it's insane.

    I find that almost all so-called teachers here are showcasing their abilities and talent but really in the real world do u have time to do all these extensions whatnot back to worship the King of King and Lord of lords not worship your talent no one here really takes the time to slow down they l; like to show how fast they are, No way to teach I assure you especially extended chord in 5 #why not see and use a number system to show what u are doing
