    Awesome footage. Love your TH-cam channel.

      Thanks! That flight was sooo pretty - some days there’s a clump of cloud over the lower North Island and upper South Island that means the flight seems to be 100% in the clouds, but thankfully it was a lovely clear day for me. And I’m so glad you enjoy my content, I hope I can continue to make stuff you want to watch.

      I agree, so great. I really should make the return flight - it has a great approach to Wellington shot.

      @@SupersonicKiwi these days when you fly with them it's only single pilot so you get to sit up in the cockpit if you ask!

      Thank you so much, that's very kind of you. I'm not quite sure what I need to do to get more subs, but the people who are following seem to like my content, so that makes all the hard work worth it. New video out today, I hope you like it!

    Great trip report I really liked the footage over Miramar, The Polo Ground, Miramar Park, Mt Crawford. I haven't been back there for a few years. Cheers

      Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I'm really pleased you like the footage - this take off, being in a wee little plane, was much lower than other flights I take out of Wellington, and it really was an incredible view. If I'm 100% honest I actually thought people would like the footage over the sounds and into Picton more than the take off, but there you are - shows how little I know!

      Thanks so much! This video doesn't get as many views as others, but it certainly has one the best like / dislike ratios (95.9% - which is one dislike). I have full footage of the return flight that I keep thinking about editing. Maybe I should do that one.

    Shhhhh!!! Don't tell anybody, but that runway at Koromiko is hairier than a monekeys back when there's a norwester blowing. Friends nearly had the wing ripped off as it almost dug into the dirt a few years back

    Sorry to be pedantic but you are not going south - you are going exactly due west - Both Wellington and Picton are on Lat 41,17 South

      Interesting! I feel like this is so intriguing that I’m going to have to investigate further and do an exposé in an upcoming video… First I need to fly to Nelson, but I’m sure I can make this happen…

  • @edwardmcgill1640
    @edwardmcgill1640 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    And weirdly if you fly to Nelson from Wellington you are actually going north

    • @SupersonicKiwi
      @SupersonicKiwi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok, this really needs a bit of an investigation. But what do I use as ‘Nelson’? Presumably the middle of the runway, as this channel is all about plane rides, right? Definitely a lot to think about here…

      @@SupersonicKiwi WLG is 41,17S, Nelson is 41,16 S - only a tiny difference but still further north than WLG

    What? No meal service? Not even an amenity kit with a $0.99 travel size tube of toothpaste? Why, most other aviation review TH-camrs would be absolutely appalled at such horrible service!

    • @SupersonicKiwi
      @SupersonicKiwi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ha! Thanks? It's a complement, right? Well, I'm taking it as one. I really like little airlines that service smaller communities, and the economics must be a nightmare, so I'm mostly pleased that they're still flying! And the plane was clearly well maintained and frequently serviced, and I think that's more important :)

    • @bradleynoneofyourbizz5341
      @bradleynoneofyourbizz5341 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SupersonicKiwi It's both a compliment to you and a dig at other aviations TH-camrs who put emphasis on the most ridiculous things. Recently unsubscribed from one who condemned an entire airline because ONE employee was curt with him. Then another who bragged how he'd only paid $500 for a $7,000 business class seat then threw a hissy fit because they gave him plastic cutlery! They're divas; spoiled brats, really. I much prefer down to Earth reviews.

      @@bradleynoneofyourbizz5341 When I was thinking about starting this channel I didn't understand who the audience was for the reviews I saw - I've spent so much time travelling that I see planes as busses in the sky, and it's the small things that make the experience good, but mostly I'm glad when we get where we're going in time for my connection! I've had some terrible yet (in retrospect) awesome experiences, but they were all before I started filming. There's one in particular I remember in the Pacific - pretty sure it was Fiji, when the death trap of a wee plane we were on skidded to a halt down a loose metal runway on some outer island, dumped us out, and took off back to the mainland - leaving us standing, alone, in the middle of nowhere. About 45 minutes later a small tin boat showed up to take us to the island we were going to. Now that would be a great review! I've had flights delayed 12 hours, flights cancelled in the middle of a series of three of four connections, diversions mid flight - total chaos stuff in terms of impact on plans - so my hope with the channel was to capture some of those to help normalise interruptions and to accentuate that getting there on time, or getting there at all, is pretty awesome. But I've not really had any clangers in the last 4-5 years, which is a bit improbable, but makes me really happy, so I celebrate when my bag pops out on the belt after 3 connections, because that's actually really awesome!

    Best to leave it mute. Stop the side view, cut out 25 percent of the picture, Too much yap . Too much terminal bollocks.Just film from the aircraft and leave the zoom alone. Sorry....3/10.

      Don't be sorry, but I get the feeling this isn't the channel for you - that's not really my MO. I did do a version of this particular flight with just the in-flight footage that you might like: th-cam.com/video/cJx5L_CnSQk/w-d-xo.html but it has way lower view stats than the full review version, so I didn't do any others like it.
