      Great shout, I do need to vary up my South Island destinations a bit. I have a Nelson trip in September, but sadly that’s it for new South Island airports this year (I have a couple of CHC flights booked, but I’ve already done CHC and have one on the go for that route). I’ll make it a goal for 2024!

      Thanks! I am a big fan of small airlines, and Sounds Air is a stand out operator in my opinion - great planes, good routes, and awesome people. I got to relive a great flight at the end of a wonderful day every time I worked on this one, it really was a delight to make.

      I do enjoy the little planes. I have a very fond memory of flying from Nadi to one of the outlying islands on a wee island hopper. The airfield on the island was gravel, and the pilot was in a hurry, and it was all very exciting, haha!

    Are there any commercial flights like boeing?

    • @SupersonicKiwi
      @SupersonicKiwi  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In and out of Picton? No, only Sounds Air services PCN. Air New Zealand fly DHC-300s in and out of Blenheim, which is only a 20 minute drive away. In fact, if PCN is closed the flights divert to Blenheim.

    Why don’t you need to have flight mode on?

    • @SupersonicKiwi
      @SupersonicKiwi  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wasn't entirely sure, so I had a bit of a hunt around, and apparently it's to do with there being fewer passengers. These planes carry 12 passengers or less but have roughly the same amount of avionics as the 150 passenger commercial jets. Having 12 cell phones trying to connect to a “non-existent” cell tower is a lot less interference than 150 cell phones trying to do the same thing.

      If I did that I’d tick off two airports - I’ve never flown in or out of Invercargill before and it looks like that’s the only place to get a flight to Oban from.
