I have been driving my dad's old cj2a for the last 11 years, ever since he passed on. It is my way to keep close with his memory. Willy is currently on jack stands as I put seals in the front and rear axels. They needed a refresh on the brakes as well. Your stories on this jeep remind me of when he first got his jeep and we got it ready for the road safety all those years ago. Thanks from rural Manitoba, Canada.
I’m one of the people who thinks this series is great! Not to take anything away from your other projects, but seeing an old flat fender always brings a smile to my face.
Unless you're willing to beat the snot out of it, this Jeep won't do many of the obstacles on the Rubicon. The trail's so well traveled today that you can bypass a lot of the rougher parts and I think that's what they'd have to do. Would it make it over the rough stuff? Well, yeah - until it breaks. Odds are good that it breaks. It doesn't have things like modern articulation and the likes.
When off roading with the old Willy's after a creek crossing you had to ride the brakes to sorta dry the shoes off a little otherwise you had no brakes.
I picked up a '52 CJ3A a few months ago with literally ZERO floors. Just barely enough holding on to keep the sides where they need to be. Been enjoying this little series.
Back in 1968 my Dad bought a 1951 Willy's CJ with the to tall cushion which made you sit to high like you mentioned a trip to the junk Yard we got seats from a first generation mustang.
Little Jeeps are fun. My Dad used to say they are like toys. They are strong and very interesting to drive at 40 mph with no doors, tops or (optional) seat belts. While growing up in Massachusetts, many owners put snow plows on them for doing driveways and/or parking lots. I've also seen small Jeeps pushing vehicles much larger than the Jeep itself. But they are fun.
It's a cool little Willy's should put a nice roll cage in it something that looks. Correct for the vehicle and find a set of Warren winches for it that would be period correct and build a set of rock sliders and upgrade it to take it to the Rubicon
Hi Fred, what I have Used for Some inexpensive seats that are cover with water resistant covering and that are flat, are Bass Boat Seats. Any color you want.
Nice Fred! My Dad had one of these as surplus from the Korean War. It was an ambulance model so the bed was a bit longer to accommodate stretchers more easily, at least that was what I was told when I was 6. That thing could go anywhere.
Yay, it runs! It fired right up, with a little coaxing. I’m looking forward to more progress on the flatfender, like the brake upgrade, and the clutch. Happy New Year, Fred!
Nice. Thanks Fred. I use gravity bleeding on brakes and it works atleast on these pre ABS brakes. Im working currently 53 Willys Wagon to bring it to life after decades of hibernation. Very same components on that. Please, if you still have your red Wagon please do some videos on it. Bought mine after saw yours.
I have my grandpas cj2a that he bought new in 1946. I have it up on jack stands at the moment, but my New Year’s resolution is to make it run again! Thanks for the inspiration Fred!
Needs some bugs worked out batt hold. Down and brakes a must. Look to cj5. Upgrade. For BRAKES. And LED for bulbs. Get used wagon wheels for look painted red too
Same here., I strongly agree that the Bitcoin ETFs approval will be greatly life opportunity for us, with my current portfolio of $102,500 from my investments with my personal financial advisor Steve Miley I totally agree with you😊
YES!!! That's exactly his name (Steve Miley) so many people have recommended highly about him and am just starting with him from Brisbane Australia...🇦🇺
Good work Fred
You guys should put on your dirt head jean jackets, do a colab, and an off road trip. 🎉
You guys should definitely do a collab. Off road adventure we miss dirt every day!!!😢
Yeah, what he said 👍
It warms me heart that you two still keep up with each other.

Fred Williams is the auto shop teacher kids, and those wanting to learn, need today.

All that hard work paying off! I bet that Flatty is grateful for getting a new lease on life.
Congrats, Fred! Love this series. Can't wait to see this little Flatty progress in the new year.
Please make it a thing for 2025 for you and Dave to revisit Stock Trucks on the Rubicon with this little beast.

So you understand the intention of the comment.
I really like the orange wheels and the knobby tires!

love the little red wheels on this thing... those are fantastic
Can we get a shop tour with a story on every project you have please.
Great video! I recall honing a GPW master cylinder and putting in a rebuild kit back in ‘86…fun times!

Nothing beats an old flat fender! I need one!!
Maybe the Clutch is stuck, get on an incline and gun it with the pedal pushed in. Awesome video as always 👍🏼👍🏼
I did the TracKick Disc Conversion, and it cost me just over $200/axle. Stupid cheap and stupid easy, and works great with the normal master cylinder.
Ya did goof Fred, ya did good!
You're right Fred, it is perfect! I hope the one I find is just like yours. Fix the brakes and the clutch and take it to the Rubicon! Or anywhere.😀
That hitch/ drawbar on the back appears to be an original option. According to a service manual I ordered from the jungle website
Love the flat fender series.!!!
Growing up watching Mash and A-Team, I love old Jeeps. This has been an enjoyable series to watch.
Those were CJ 5and. 7. On A. TEAM
It looks so cool! Good job Fred!!!

Love this series on the flatty. Please do an in-depth look at that Rube Goldberg device that is the breaks/clutch system. Thanks!
I've got a '48 2A and am currently doing the brakes.... Thanks for the video! Happy New Year!!

That was a great time seeing that thing drive. Happy New Year
When is this one going to Key West?
Great Job Fred, Happy New Year!
Way to say another old Jeep there Fred !!
This Frank guy seems pretty cool. You should listen to him more often.
Happy New Year and please keep those videos coming. Thanks
Woo hoo! Congrats on finally driving it! Frank seems cool, is he single?
Nope, taken!
Yay, it runs! It fired right up, with a little coaxing. I’m looking forward to more progress on the flatfender, like the brake upgrade, and the clutch. Happy New Year, Fred!
That is such a cool Jeep. Love to see it running on its own power!
Happy New Year Fred! Are we getting closer to seeing that FC running and driving, at least around the yard?
Happy New Year Fred
Congratulations Mr. Williams. From a fan who thoroughly enjoys your content. May God Bless you and your family.

That famous last minute sprint to the finish eh. Just a tweak, now that’s optimism 😝

Brake booster tool: You could have just said use the Jeep XJ Crank Position Sensor tool with a bigger socket. LOL
Great work Fred and Happy New Year. Glad to see the Flat Fender running!
You can't go wrong with a Jeep
Rock on, Fred! Happy New Year!! Happy wheelin’!!

It's a runner mission accomplished ?
hellyeah Fred!
Love it!
You and Pewe need a road trip with both flat fendes
FRED! What in the hell is going on with poor little Tube Sock over there? Are you mistreating him.😂😂
My clutch linkage was OK but the disc was rusted/adhered in place after sitting for decades. Bumping up against a tree got it loose.
Needs some bugs worked out batt hold. Down and brakes a must. Look to cj5. Upgrade. For BRAKES. And LED for bulbs. Get used wagon wheels for look painted red too
Aren't brakes overrated on a vehicle with standard shift . 😊
You need to bring it to EJS and do FFFFR this year
Yea flatfender 🎉🎉🎉 merry ho ho
Yesss
time for a cross country trip with pewe
I love watching your show. Is there a way to get in touch with you?. I have some questions. Thanks. JB
How about putting a new master cylinder on the firewall? Or do you need the 1946 purity?
Flatfender!!
Feliz 2025..
Drive it to the Eastern most point of North America, Cape Spear in Newfoundland and Labrador .
Bring back the pink squatch!
I love your content, but after the 6th commercial break I had to call it quits.

My 49 willys truck with T90C i can put it in 2WD Low range.
This thing needs to go on the unreal adventure in 2025.
We recently scored a flat fender. The guy swears its a 40, we aren't sure yet......
🎉😊

You made it, just barely.
