That was some real life Dukes of Hazzard, truck flipping, pole snapping, trooper car flying tru the air from a pit maneuver. Just wow. Prayers for the Arkansas State Trooper and it's good to hear that he survived the wreck .
I used to watch Dukes of Hazzard back in the 80's... Great show, and yes, this wonderful incident reminded me of such,,, This was a great take down by the police.
To others wondering who the random person who pops up each time they show the crash clips from inside the vehicle I’ve figured it out. They are the body shop people that recovered the cameras and got them working again so we can watch the footage. Thank you good sirs!

And you should have noticed that they passed on many opportunities to PIT him and didn't due to safety concerns. I have seen a couple of videos where a pit successfully helped rescue kidnapped women, stopped incredibly dangerous drivers and a multitude of thugs willing to shoot anyone. There is a reason for these pits - people that run from the police and speed like that are not your friend. Them being on the road is a danger to everyone else and the police risk their lives knowingly to keep the rest of us safe. Thank you to the officer and I hope he has had a full recovery.
Couldn’t agree more. Too many times people complain that the police were excessive. But you are right when you say they are not your friend. In fact, most people who flee police care zero about anyone else on the road. They look at innocent drivers as a nuisance and the last thing on their mind is other people’s safety.
Doing a PIT at 109 miles per hour is simply not worth it. There's a fine line between trying to look like a badass in front of your cop buddies or trying to get your name on the board for most pit maneuvers, but it comes at the expense of everyone else's safety.

In Florida motorist are allowed to go either right or left on a four lane road. “To the nearest curb”is the way the law reads. Even that is better than the stop in the lane, I don’t know what to do, motorists.

And not to mention it was a bad pit maneuver. The front end is never to be even with the passenger door for that size of vehicle. And that is what changed the trajectory of the truck causing the two vehicles to become entwined and thus the instant death of whoever was inside the truck and coming close to ending the life of the officer as well.
Well you have to be calm. Dispatch doesnt really appreciate being yelled at through the radio just because adrenaline is pumping. I was a firefighter here in Kentucky and dispatch really frowns on that. Makes it hard to understand people at times as well. Just because something bad happens you should always stay calm on radio so information isn't unclear.

According to FAA regs, he was required to ask the tower for permission to land. I noticed that his seatbacks were not in the upright position and all his tray tables were not stowed. He might lose his pilot's license over this

Yeah for those commenting, first of all the suspect died on scene. Trooper Michael Ellis sustained serious injuries but return-to-work about eight months later. And unfortunately Trooper Michael Springer died in 2021 from covid-19, he was the one in the second vehicle

i was listening to my local police scanner one night and i heard a cop calmly key up to dispatch for ems while in the back ground i could hear a woman screaming at God not to take her son . then a few seconds later the cop keyed up to cancel ems and that woman in the background ... i can't even describe what i heard . i couldn't remain calm like that officer and i wasn't even there. I suppose it's only natural for cops to develope a callus after a while
Officer Ellis is a saint and a badass all in one. Neither officer in the pursuit ever wavered. The bravery required to take out another vehicle at 100+ mph is mind-blowing. The officer on the radio didn't even get to finish his sentence before Ellis rolled him over.

I drove a tow truck in OKC. Troopers always said " run red lights if you have to. We may need you to lift the vehicle to get someone out of it. Plus clearing the road for traffic. I started in Nov. of 95. In march of 97 I received a national award for being No. 1 in Oklahoma. Yeah..I kicked ass.
I think when they have chased someone at 100+ for a significant period of time, the officer gets accustomed to the speed and kind of forgets things like momentum, stopping distance, and the ease of losing control of the car. Trying to ram someone off the road at 110 MPH....damn....that is either ginormous brass balls, or a lack of appreciation of physics. Or both....
You don’t lose your sense of what’s going on because your equipment and those engaged with you, are constantly sharing with you what’s happening. What you do lose after a time in a high speed pursuit is your awareness of how much danger you’re in, personally. There were many PIT opportunities but the cop chose the time with the least vehicular traffic and roadside hazards. I’m confident he wasn’t judging it on his speed - as if this asshat would have slowed down anyway.
@@murymann PIT is sort of a misnomer here anyway. IIRC "PIT" only applies at less than 45 MPH. This would be "legal intervention" or just simply "ramming", and in my area would be considered deadly force. Cops could still do this under some circumstances, but it would have to be circumstances where they would also be justified in shooting the driver. That really isn't hard to articulate however, considering the risks posed to the public by someone fleeing at 100+.

Every time I watch these videos, I hope the Trooper is not hurt or killed. I don't think about the person they're chasing. And, maybe that's a character flaw. But, these people who are running put everyone in danger. I'm sure PIT maneuvers are controversial among some. But, Arkansas has some of the finest law enforcement officers in the country. Trooper Ellis put his life in danger to stop Battenfield. Tragically, his actions ended his life. I hope Trooper Ellis has/will fully recovered. Thank you from a Marylander, for protecting us all.

If the cops try to pull over a reckless driver and he refuses to stop should they just let him go? And not to mention it was a bad pit maneuver. The front end is never to be even with the passenger door for that size of vehicle. And that is what changed the trajectory of the truck causing the two vehicles to become entwined and thus the instant death of whoever was inside the truck and coming close to ending the life of the officer as well.

And unfortunately Trooper Michael Springer died in 2021 from covid-19, he was the one in the second vehicle

I drove a tow truck in OKC. Troopers always said " run red lights if you have to. We may need you to lift the vehicle to get someone out of it. Plus clearing the road for traffic. I started in Nov. of 95. In march of 97 I received a national award for being No. 1 in Oklahoma. Yeah..I kicked ass.

That was the most effective PIT I've ever seen.
I think when they have chased someone at 100+ for a significant period of time, the officer gets accustomed to the speed and kind of forgets things like momentum, stopping distance, and the ease of losing control of the car. Trying to ram someone off the road at 110 MPH....damn....that is either ginormous brass balls, or a lack of appreciation of physics. Or both....
You don’t lose your sense of what’s going on because your equipment and those engaged with you, are constantly sharing with you what’s happening. What you do lose after a time in a high speed pursuit is your awareness of how much danger you’re in, personally. There were many PIT opportunities but the cop chose the time with the least vehicular traffic and roadside hazards. I’m confident he wasn’t judging it on his speed - as if this asshat would have slowed down anyway.
@@murymann PIT is sort of a misnomer here anyway. IIRC "PIT" only applies at less than 45 MPH. This would be "legal intervention" or just simply "ramming", and in my area would be considered deadly force. Cops could still do this under some circumstances, but it would have to be circumstances where they would also be justified in shooting the driver. That really isn't hard to articulate however, considering the risks posed to the public by someone fleeing at 100+.

He may have slowed momentum, same result to the truck by merely clipping the back bumper at that speed. A feather touch is all a fishtail needs at 109...Gawds... He got way up too far...

Every time I watch these videos, I hope the Trooper is not hurt or killed. I don't think about the person they're chasing. And, maybe that's a character flaw. But, these people who are running put everyone in danger. I'm sure PIT maneuvers are controversial among some. But, Arkansas has some of the finest law enforcement officers in the country. Trooper Ellis put his life in danger to stop Battenfield. Tragically, his actions ended his life. I hope Trooper Ellis has/will fully recovered. Thank you from a Marylander, for protecting us all.

@Green Mamba Games He wasn’t driving like that because he was being chased; he was being chased because he was driving like that. The high speed, reckless driving came first. If the cops try to pull over a reckless driver and he refuses to stop should they just let him go? I can see where there are times that maybe letting the guy go is a better option that chasing him, however in this case I don’t think the cops had much choice, that guy would have killed someone else. If the driver didn’t have any other legal entanglements why would he have run? By his running the cops must have thought that there's more here than a traffic infraction.

I have seen deadlier. When I was a first responder pulled up to a Convertible Mustang that slid between telephone pole and a fence pole. Arrived on site and blocked off the road for the coroner. Yeah it was the only time I ever saw a full decapitation.
