@@never7745Dominating? Go back and have a look at the results. Yes you played well but the games against the top sides, except for cats and port, you only just won by a goal or two. So not really “Dominating”. I don’t think any team has dominated this year except for Sydney.

@@never7745They weren’t dominant, far from it. And even if they were that’s still the issue, last year they struggled at the start and came home strong and this year it’s the opposite. They have yet to be able to put in a consistent season from start to finish and that’s something all the best side, all the great sides that have had dominant eras have been able to do. I’m not saying Voss is a terrible coach but he has had long enough to get that out of the group, and why they struggle so much with injuries and it concerning
Injuries or not they got demolished by a team in a rebuild
The rebuild is done at Hawthorn. It's just adding pieces now, such as Barrass.
As did Collingwood, Adelaide the Lions. More than a few teams who have been and will be torched by the Hawks
@@AIJimmybadNo no, not yet. Still very much rebuilding. Such a young side can easily run out of puff in the next 2 weeks. Still a long way for us Hawks to go.

You start in the middle. Geelong, as they have done for years, beat Hawthorn at contested possessions, centre clearances, laid more tackles, and forced Hawthorn to chip it around and kick down the line to their dominant talls. Geelong controlled almost the entire four quarters. Hawthorn does not pose a huge aerial threat and if you can win at the contest and stop their run and gun handball game, that’s the key to victory.
its hard for them to get their running game working on a athletics track, where the dimensions don't allow run and spread

There needs to be changes regardless if you ask me. Too many players on the list that don't seem to be able to physically handle the demands of AFL footy. Some of them have been clogging the list for years, and still can't get their bodies right. Enough is enough.
Dunno. Hawk fan. Blues looked really tired/flat. First 1/4 no answer to Curnow/McKay. Too big, too good. Undersize in the backline. Sicily 80% with the shoulder. Boys looked great, luvved it. 1 tall lacking in forward line and backline for me. Win the Prem gladly say I'm wrong. Just a few key players lacking.
Fair assessment. Sam will be targeting a key defender for sure. I think we are short a defender and quality mid. The losses to Geelong and Swans exposed our mid depth. Teams are now putting time into Day and Jai. Warps has been huge and Meek incredible but Nash, Ward, Finn, Husswaite aren't good enough.
@@charleszerafa I reckon Jai and Day will get over tags. Finn and Ward haven't played that much. Bbiigg fan of Connor. Does some heavy work in there, can ruck and can standup and get the ball out when tackled in heavy traffic. Husswaite still coming on. Big enough can/could play in another position. Finn great shutdown player, give him another pre-season and see.
@colinross6259 I like the positivity. The list will change over the next few years though. I think Sam will trade some fringe players to get some more mature bodies in.

Something not right at carlton they were 2nd and flying, its like after they beat Geelong they were just happy to be 2nd on the ladder and call it a year. Injuries have killed this team over the last 5 years they won't go near the 8 again until they move on the broken players and inject the youth.
They will lose to Eagles and saints.

I love jordan lewis one of the great players of our game but just said carlton cant make excuses about players being injured when its 12 of their best players but then went on to make the excuse why hawks lost to geelong because his backman was out injured
The home ground & shape made all the diff ( Cats V Hawks). Its 40m thinner across & Hawks couldn't find space. They rarely lose down there. Looking fwd to a replay in September on the deck of decks: MCG.
It has nothing to do with talent i think the blues burnt themselves out tbh their fitness is questionable at best.
