You need to be more consistent with your videos! Your a damn good teacher and what your doing is helping / blessing other people in major ways cuz I been in cosmology school for 8 months and wasn’t close to understanding how much You’ve just explained to me in this video. Thank you so much for this!!!🙌🏾❤️
I would be more consistent if I had quality video production at a reasonable cost... I pay to create these videos you watch for FREE.... TH-cam pays pennies it’s a joke
This is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 info in 2021 # timeless, been looking all over for this conversion. Just getting into detachable blades for my oster octane!!! Thank you Will.
yo thanks alot man you know what you doing and you help quite a lot with your explanations to all guard system i hope all the newones gonna do it right!
Will Stamm no need to say sorry...just glad you made it...your system and the way you explain it is better than any other person on TH-cam 💯💯...and definitely for a beginner like me..I'm still trying to get back to school for my GED so I can actually go to barber college and better my life...so for now I'm just learning from TH-cam until I can get everything in motion and have some knowledge before I go to barber school...so I'm blessed to have come across your channel...much respect to you and appreciate you sharing your experience and knowledge with us.....and sorry for the runalong comment lol
Great explanation. I am getting ready to buy a cordless and wanted to know how the blades match the guard, and you gave it to me exactly what I needed to know. Thanks
I enjoy your work and also would look forward on your work with your detachable blades cutting a. Low bold fade metal blades please looking forward on your next video
This video has claified everything .... I use Whales , Andis and the detachable ones but never the Red ones because I did'nt understand the measurment. Thanks you!
So basically when a client asks for a #1 on the sides you have to leave 1/8th of an inch of hair on his head? If they want a #3 it leaves 3/8th of an inch and so on?
The 1 1/2 detachable blade is equivalent to the 1 guard halfway open and the 1 3/4 detachable blade is equivalent to the 1 guard all the way open or the 1 1/2 guard all the way closed! The 1 3/4 is a true 1 1/2 like a 1 1/2 guard or the 1 open depends on what type of clipper you're using and the 1 1/2 detachable blade is in between a 1 and a 1 1/2 which means it cuts shorter than a 1 1/2 because the 1 1/2 detachable blade is 5/32 of an inch and the 1 3/4 detachable blade is 3/16 of an inch!
Can you give me some information on the group events and your email address I created a chart just like this with the actual measurements and like to email it to you I think you would find it interesting
Will , is it possible to get by with just purchasing a detachable clipper and a complete set of blades ? I know this sounds kinda crazy . There's a blade the same size as a trimmer , one for a clipper closed , open and so fourth . Your opinion would really mean a lot .
i have a quick question ! i know that if u put the 1 guard and open it all the way it becomes 1 and a half but in youre video u said if u open the lever halfway it become 1 and a half !! that's only what confuse me ...
I live in the Bahamas. I can't take one of your courses at the moment, but I would love to have a conversation with you, being a fellow Shop owner and striving entrepreneur.
Will, EXCELLENT video sir! Can you PLEASE do a video of a taper fade with detachable clippers?! Thanks! Much Respect & many blessings to you and your family!!
Porsche Roberson It may help you to simply look at the set of your own guards and compare those with the two other guards he showing. You can also google the Speed-O guard and it has pictures of those red guards and take a screen shot and save the picture to your phone. I hope that helps if you only have one set to follow him. Will does a nice job explaining the difference between the several sets. Best wishes. 💈❤️
Question 1..... pretty much it’s that close Question 2.... pretty much.... but both of those guards exist to make it easier .. depending on texture of hair
@@WillStamm on the wahl seniors with no guard/open, does it turn into a 1/2 or a 1? Same question with the 1/2 guard clup, When its on with the blade open is it 1 or 11/2?
Will Stamm Man you got me thinking about going into debt with the financial aid for Proway because I was looking at CEI hair school downtown and their price is $1500 but your videos are super detailed and you tap into techniques that I've never heard of so for that reason alone I would consider attending Proway to have access to your instructions in person.
Will, are you aware that Andis just came out with 0.5 and a 1.5 purple Nano double magnetic guards 4 weeks ago. For between the purple 0 and 1 , and between the 1 and 2. Nice addictions to the game!
Yeah... there will always be new Guards and stuff coming out.. but as long as you understand the concept I’m teaching... it becomes just plug and play...
Will, I have found two additional detachable blades that make fades even more beautiful. The Andis #9 blade bit.ly/2IdrSQx_Andis9detachableblade and The Andis #10 blade bit.ly/2Ic0ySM_Andis10detachableblade When fading with a detachable clipper it had been difficult to smoothly blend from the line made with the #1 Blade (2.4mm) to the line made with the 0A blade(1.2mm) without going to an adjustable clipper/guards for help. However, this problem has been solved by using the #9 blade (2mm) which is just a few mm's less than the #1 Blade then going to the #10 blade (1.5mm). Your transitions will look "FLAWLESS"
So a 1 1/2 (3/16) would be a “dollar sixty to a dollar eighty” on an Andis 1 guard. That is, three to four steps back from “closed”. What’s so hard about that (instead of using a Wahl 1 1/2 guard)?
If no trouble, could you please add the .5 & 1.5 Andis to the chart? barber-and-beauty.andis.com/product/master%26reg%3B-magnetic-comb-set-%26mdash%3B-dual-pack-0.5-%26amp-1.5/?item-no=01420
Ayyo will stamm the 1 1/2 detachable blade is equivalent to the 1 guard halfway open and the 1 3/4 detachable blade is equivalent to the 1 guard all the way open or the 1 1/2 guard all the way closed!
andis has a half and a 11/2 guard now brother! go on and is website and check them out they come in both the single magnetic and the double magnetic and the new snap on guards in andis!
Great info . But I would differ on .a few things. I cut with Wahl ..andis master and blades.. I believe Wahl is 0000-OA.. And masters is OA - 1. The surgical blade on Wahl cuts lower than a 000 . and masters blade is thick so it doesnt cut as close as a 000 its more like an OA .
I use detachables everyday, 3 1/2 ,. 4,,, 5,,,, and 6... NEVER , EVER SNAG. I work in an extremely busy shop. 20-- 30 heads everyday. Never had a detachable snag. AND I use several different wireless clippers which IMO aren't as powerful as corded clippers and the detachables above #2 still don't snag..
3 year old video but I still go back and watch this video every so often lol crazy , your the GOAT 🐐
💯✊🏻
Thanks, I really needed to understand the differences. I’m saving this one.

Ayyo will stamm my detachable clipper is the wahl rapid fire with the andis and oster detachable blades bro!
What is andis cordless masters all the way open when compared to a detachable? A true #1 detachable metal guard ?
Or 1A?
Depends on the blade… fade blade or standard blade?
000 =.50 ,0000= .25, 00000= .20, outliner= .10 so would the outliners be best for a bald to the skin look or am i missing something?
great video
Thanks
And you have the wahl clippers talking about the detachables is it the same case for the masters
I have the masters , Andis tliners and Excel 2 speed
Yes is pretty much the same... very slight difference because of the manufacturing but same principles
i have a quick question ! i know that if u put the 1 guard and open it all the way it becomes 1 and a half but in youre video u said if u open the lever halfway it become 1 and a half !! that's only what confuse me ...
Don’t over think it… it’s so close in measurement that an angle or flick of the wrist can make the transition

So a 1 1/2 (3/16) would be a “dollar sixty to a dollar eighty” on an Andis 1 guard.
That is, three to four steps back from “closed”.
What’s so hard about that (instead of using a Wahl 1 1/2 guard)?
