The nip tattoo made me laugh - one of my friends is a trans guy. He was so excited for his chest/nip area to loose sensitivity so he can get it pierced and tattoo.... plottwist, after top surgery he just became overly sensitive, which even baffles the doctors
For me the tattoo flu hits within about an hour of getting home and starting to relax. I'm instantly wiped out and feel feverish, but I usually feel a lot better after a 1-2 hour nap and by the next day I'm 100% back to normal, aside from discomfort/itch at the actual tattoo site.

And honestly I might get a nipple tattoo if the pigment doesn't restore properly- some of my nipple is a normal tan color, but some of it is still pink like scar tissue
There was a session I had last year that I went into full on shock. I had worked a 12 hour night shift, went to class right after and went right to a 6 hour session where we worked on my ditch and underarm/armpit areas. By the time we were done I was nauseous, my arm was ice cold, and I wanted to pass out from exhaustion. I have NEVER planned out a day like that again
I recently got a big piece that required a whole day session and i swear the wet wipes and sitting on the chair for that long hurt so much more than the actual tattoo
I’m a mum of 4 and fairly heavily tattooed but if anyone is treating me any differently I haven’t noticed - maybe I’m oblivious to it but I like to think that folk here just don’t care 🤷🏻♀️
My ink is only slightly visible so I don't think I've been judged by it, but I *am* a rainbow haired girly and the judgement is real. Kids *love* it, but most adults are extremely disrespectful and are condescending as hell.
@@annjepsen1621 I’ve been known to have every colour of hair under the sun too - only recently went brown again which likely won’t last long - but, again, never had any negative comments - it’s usually folk saying they wish they had the guts to go whatever colour and I always encourage folk to go for it. It’s just hair, life is too short to be worried about a hair colour
I have always been so super terrified to get a tattoo, I still don't have any and I am 27. I have been watching this channel a lot lately, and I will be honest, it's really built up a lot of my confidence and taken away quite a bit of the fear that I've had about getting them. I think for my birthday in 2 months I will save up to get a small tattoo!
I got my first one when I was 34 (less than a month ago) and my mother got hers a few years ago (was also her first) - there is no bad time to get your first! I hope you will love yours as much as I love mine!
Are you scared because you think they are painful or are you scared for the commitment, or other reason? If you're scared because you think they are super painful, you shouldn't worry. Yes, tattoos hurt, but let me tell you, they hurt NOTHING like a blown out disc in your back or a joint replacement - or a bad toothache. I've had all of those - and I've had 4 joint replacements, the pain of getting a tattoo is an annoyance - and I've sat for a few 9 hour sessions (with some breaks). Yes, toward the end of a long session, my skin is like, enough already (just super raw feeling, with someone scratching at it). I actually find the healing process to be super irritating - I hate the itchy phase! I'm 61 btw - it's good that you have waited until you are a bit older. My fear around getting any tattoos has always been about the artist - will they do a good job? THAT's my fear. Even with really choosing a solid artist, I've had a few tattoos that didn't turn out great. Not terrible, just not great.
I love the statement it’s never too late to get tattoos, my mom got her first at 60! A year ago. It also sometimes helps to have a friend there in the background to go with you. Definitely do something small first though, you get a sense of pain tolerance and the whole set up :)
@@i_love_rescue_animals I didn’t get my first tattoo until I was 28 because I was afraid of the pain, but after going through a botched IUD placement, told myself if I could get through that, I could get through anything! I’m so glad I did, I was so nervous I was shaking and nauseous, but I’ve now got three tattoos and am hoping to get on the books for one in February! It’s addicting! Anyone who is nervous of the pain, just remember millions of people have tattoos and made it through! You are stronger and tougher than you think! 💜
I relate so much to the young mom. I'm 40 and my oldest is 21 and in college. His entire school career I've been discriminated against by teachers and school staff.
OMG school mom, I saw that on TikTok, I feel so bad for her. They are going out of their way to treat her awfully, to be honest, those school mom's will eat you up and spit you out, you have to learn to hold your own against them. They are evil and if they smell fear they strike.
I love your videos. They're so fascinating, this is coming from someone who has no tattoos and will never get any. I especially love when you break down stuff happening in the tattoo online community. But I would also love a video on being child free, coming from someone who will never have children. This is the first time I've heard of the list. If you do do a video on the topic please start at the list, it's cool but daunting.
I kinda had a thought on how to make micro-realism work. Now, it requires a rework of the tattoo, but I think there's potential. You get the micro-realism in circles. And then, once it ages to the point it doesn't have the appeal, you turn them into bubbles or crystal balls, or something to that effect. It's a "distorted" memory, or fantasy, or hope/dream/fear/whatever you can't quite make out the same way through the surface of the "thing" it's inside.
OOF Tattoo Fluuuu. I only ever got that with my sternum tattoo! It was over 5 hours and I remember feeling like there was something inside of me trying to escape. My boss at the time made a comment about how because it was a planchette and a death moth that I was possessed ahahaha I laughed so hard at him it was hilarious. Only time I ever felt terrible from a tattoo, though.
My first tattoos were my chibi sharks on the sides of my hands near my thumbs. The left one, a tiger shark, covers my scars from an accidental chicken scratch from the second grade, and a minor cooking accident involving a hot pan during college lol. The scars actually add texture for the tiger shark's patterns so it worked out! Also introvert guy has a point, don't randomly go up to people you don't know and ask potentially invasive questions lmao. Leave people alone. 😂 EDIT: I am an occasional peeker during tattoo sessions, staring the whole time feels weird to me and probably the tattoo artist haha. Last thing, if I were that mum, I'd be a MENACE. Give that energy back, babe.
No for real not paying a tattoo artist feels so uncomfortable to me too😅 My BF is a tattoo artist (American traditional, has owned his shop for over 10 years) and any time he tattoos me he refuses to take my money. Is it the dream? Yes. Do I then spoil the hell out of him with food/gifts/whatever he wants after? Also yes
Because I'm an artist, I love to watch the whole tattoo process. It's interesting to see how someone else does their chosen art medium and things like what part they start on.
Glad you are getting better lauren you are still stunning love you're videos i hope you have the best 2024 you are a good person you have beautiful tattoo's
Lol i think the jumble of tattoos looks like a really cool collage from like a journal or something. And i had no idea tattoo flu was a thing, and i have had multiple 3-7 hour sessions 😅 maybe cuz i really wanted them...? 17:46 i actually have a big pterodactyl and a trex tattoo 😂
I am that weird person who doesn't feel a lot when getting tattoed and sometimes I even forget I am in it so I end up falling asleep🤣 Plus, the last time I got a tattoo (my wolfsbane one, it was rather large located on my arm) my poor tattoo artist wanted to have a smoke break and he was so anxious of asking me because I never mentioned I wanted to take a break. I felt so bad when he poked me after two hours to ask permission to go out for a few minutes so he could have a cigarette. 😭 I ended up letting him know that usually, I dont require breaks so he can have as many as he wants without feeling too bad, man, I was so embarrassed😞
I only have one tattoo so far, which isn't fully completed. We did about 4 and a half hour session. I didn't get a tattoo flu, nor had I heard of such a thing before this video. ALSO!!! Thank you @treacletatts for pounding into my head how second skin / saniderm should be removed!! (In the shower, with hot water.)
Omg i used to tattoo ppl while hiding under desks in an abandoned classroom when I was in high school you’d hate me 😭 also living with chronic pain has made the tattoo experience not very painful at all lol and the vibrating of the gun honestly feels nice and numbs out the pain
I've had tattoo flu exactly once, a large upper arm piece. It hit later that night, felt feverish, tired and weak. Not a lot of fun! I've since had a lot more larger pieces done, including a half back, neck, arm and shoulder one that took a total of 30 hours, first session around 8 hours, never had a problem.
I ALWAYS get tattoo flu no matter the size of tattoo. I have a condition that causes severe fatigue and pain so the day after a tattoo is a bed day. Tattoo pain 1-2/10 everyday pain 6-7/10 tattoos don't hurt 😂
I hear that! I have fibromyalgia so my body tends to overreact to “trauma” but since I’m used to being in pain daily it’s kinda nice to feel something other than that even it just being a different kind of pain - I’ve only struggled once with a tattoo but it was a day after I fell down a flight of stairs and I was bruised to hell and the artist was leaning in a huge bruise on my thigh the whole time doing a five hour thigh tattoo - in hindsight I should’ve rescheduled but I hated idea of doing that so last minute
- I'm an introvert with tattoos, but I LOVE talking about them :) - I've only gotten 1 big tattoo so far and yes omg, I never knew the "tattoo flu" existed! But it makes sense! - I'm actually scared of needles so I don't watch my artist, I'll only look over randomly when she's moved lmao
From another yet same POV, I am a 4’11’’ woman with a young face and voice and no *visible* tattoos…I am constantly having to prove to people that I’m more of a hard-ass than I look. The older I get the more often I find people underestimate me. I find myself attracted to “tough-looking, soft-hearted” people, we get each other like that
-Another tattooed introvert here; So long as I’m not getting judgy behavior, I really don’t mind discussing tattoos. Most of the time I get to gush about my favorite artists. -Didn’t realize that tattoo flu was a thing, but after getting a larger bit added to my side/ribs last week it tracks -I kind of check in every once in a while, but don’t think I could watch the whole process.
20:37 There is a third option: move to a tropical country 😂 Where I'm at, it doesn't snow or gets super cold, so you can easily get away with being underdressed without the risk of death. Even when it's cold, you are very unlikely to need a scarf or gloves, to the point it's been probably 5 years since I wore any of them.
About scar coverups: For my 18th birthday my mom gave me permission to get a tattoo to cover up small scar(surgical) that I have, and she would pay it when I get the tattoo done. Haven't gotten it done yet (now, almost 3 years have passed since she promised that gift) because I can't decide for the picture and haven't found an artist yet. But it is great to have the placement ready and, in the future, something beautiful and what I like over that scar.
Ayo, yesterday i've booked in for my first tattoo in the new year for a scar cover up as am a year without cutting and want something to remind me of the things that got me out of that place. Namely cats and dnd thank you for making your Chanel such a safe place
i work at a preschool and some of the people i interact with at work are so judge and make so many assumptions about kids' homelives. like ok some are fine but some are just so negative towards the parents when its not deserved at all (sometimes it is, but atm i'm talking about when its not). i could honestly go off about it.
I absolutely have to look when I get tattoos, if I'm physically able to, or it feels like it takes forever XD I'm an artist, so I love watching the process, so I can appreciate all the micro details and colors they put in, even in super simple tattoos, and if I'm able to vicariously draw through them, to some extent, then time moves just about as fast as it would if I were actually drawing, but I always like to look away sometimes for the comfort of the artist, and so I can find surprises later!
im super late, but because of past unrelated incidents i choose to watch my ink being applied whenever I can see it. I have a thing about not being able to see where the sharps go, and even for my back i took a few breaks to look in the mirror, im grateful to not have a bunch of tattoo horror stories
19:40 my tattoo artist I believe is one of the best, but dang when he took his smoke break and I went for a bathroom break, I saw my tattoo in half progress in the back of my calf… it gave me anxiety.
Happy (early) new year, Hope you have a great time celebrating and also a great year :) I'm so excited for 2024 since I'm going to get my very first tattoo!! ahh!
The back tattoo bit 😅 I have one planned, its a sword with poisonous moonflowers and fairy wings that I designed. I am getting it because it's cool, not for that reason
I've never heard of tattoo flu but it makes sense that somebody's body would react that way, you are literally trying to heal a wound and your body treats the new tattoo much like an infection! so I always treat a new tattoo like a combo of those conditions and rest and hydrate accordingly :)
I'm late to the party again today, but I don't want you to think I haven't been watching! 😂 Thanks for another entertaining video, and have a safe and fun New Year's! 😊
I'm also child free, so I never really thought about it before, but my friend and her husband are both heavily tattooed, pierced, with coloured hair and dress 'alternatively'. Their son is in primary school now, and now I'm wondering what people have said to them at the school...
The tattoo professional song hits so hard. I've finally hit the point in my career when I can go past the 3/4 length for tattoos on my arms; for the folks that came in that are my age (mid 30s) there was a very clear expectation that ink would NOT be visible if you were a teacher. So glad my younger colleagues never had to deal with that; their arms look great!
Re: the people who say tattoos don't hurt: I'm chronically ill with a condition that causes chronic pain and tattoos don't hurt for me at all. I'm in a chronic illness support group/group therapy and everyone in the group also has tattoos and says the same thing! I think if you deal with pretty severe pain on a day-to-day basis, it honestly just feels sort of pleasant? I know that sounds wild to say. I sat for a 6-hour session and it felt better than any of my flare days! Though tattoo flu comes with an extra kick in the pants because it can cause pain flares.
I dont like talking about personal stuff with strangers, even if most of my tattoos dont have any meaning, it still means talking about the choices I made with my body when I honestly just wanted to do groceries yknow. Like at a party I can understand it more, but in public im just not down for it at all
the fact that he doesn’t know that feb 30th doesn’t exist, goes to show he shouldn’t get a tattoo just yet LMAOOO

@@acelovesdiyschristopher7023 Gen z is the late 90s to early 2010s.
@@roxassora2706 yes. 1997-2012 last I checked.
@@acelovesdiyschristopher7023 So most of us would have been in middle school or early HS. So that wasn't really a gen alpha thing
that song is Sally Beauty’s promo song “having colored hair doesn’t make you unprofessional” but this tattoo remix is far superior
Ah that would be a great treat! And absolutely starting small is the best way to go, you’ll get a feel for it all 😃
I got my first one when I was 34 (less than a month ago) and my mother got hers a few years ago (was also her first) - there is no bad time to get your first!
The spine tattoo one was everything
Your reaction is me everyday as a mom to a seven yr old wild child 😂
Continuing my The Last of Us sleeve in 2 weeks and I’m so excited 🥹
My day just got brighter
Ahahaha!! You better 👁️👁️
I once fell asleep during a tattoo, best nap of my life. The sound of the tattoo gun is so relaxing
just got home to watch treacle, i see this as an absolute win ❤
- I'm an introvert with tattoos, but I LOVE talking about them :)
- I've only gotten 1 big tattoo so far and yes omg, I never knew the "tattoo flu" existed! But it makes sense!
- I'm actually scared of needles so I don't watch my artist, I'll only look over randomly when she's moved lmao
It really does, can definitely take a lot out of you.
People just need to read the room, if someone obviously doesn’t want to talk to you about their tattoo or anything, leave them alone.
6:11 If young people on tiktok can stop using their mental instability as a personality trait, that would be great.
I absolutely love all of your videos. ❤ you are so sweet and positively fantastic, it makes my day when I watch your videos.
Thank you 🥹🩷
From another yet same POV, I am a 4’11’’ woman with a young face and voice and no *visible* tattoos…I am constantly having to prove to people that I’m more of a hard-ass than I look. The older I get the more often I find people underestimate me. I find myself attracted to “tough-looking, soft-hearted” people, we get each other like that
girl i don't have tattoos and never really gave a second thought about tattoos related stuff but your content is neat, pls more!
-Another tattooed introvert here; So long as I’m not getting judgy behavior, I really don’t mind discussing tattoos. Most of the time I get to gush about my favorite artists.
-Didn’t realize that tattoo flu was a thing, but after getting a larger bit added to my side/ribs last week it tracks
-I kind of check in every once in a while, but don’t think I could watch the whole process.
You are my cozy watch. Thanks for being so lovely and real.😊
When it comes to the free tattoo thing. My main artist has given me a tattoo for my bday 3 years in a row bless him. So lucky 🍀
so happy to have a video of urs to unwind after work!!
ever since getting my first tattoo, I've had a tradition of not looking until the end!! I like the surprise. (:
Thanks for the laughs Laura! Had a shit end to the year and you made me feel better
My half sleeve is to cover up sh scars. I often forget about the burns that used to be there, and that's the point.
I LOVE THE SONG! And I wanted to thank you for introducing me to Who's That Wonderful Girl?
20:37 There is a third option: move to a tropical country 😂
Where I'm at, it doesn't snow or gets super cold, so you can easily get away with being underdressed without the risk of death. Even when it's cold, you are very unlikely to need a scarf or gloves, to the point it's been probably 5 years since I wore any of them.
I'm getting a tattoo finished in the new year. Love your videos. Helps with ideas for new designs.
I absolutely have to look when I get tattoos, if I'm physically able to, or it feels like it takes forever XD I'm an artist, so I love watching the process, so I can appreciate all the micro details and colors they put in, even in super simple tattoos, and if I'm able to vicariously draw through them, to some extent, then time moves just about as fast as it would if I were actually drawing, but I always like to look away sometimes for the comfort of the artist, and so I can find surprises later!
the way my jaw DROPPED at those scales 🤩🤩
IDK why but it was so funny in the intro when you cough-sneezed mid sentence 😂
im super late, but because of past unrelated incidents i choose to watch my ink being applied whenever I can see it.
11:02 was the greatest thing I’ve ever seen and heard 🤣🔥🔥
And very true!
I could listen to her talk all day !
i've got a tattoo appointment lined up next month ! getting a vulture on my thigh to start off the new year💯
I'm late to the party again today, but I don't want you to think I haven't been watching! 😂 Thanks for another entertaining video, and have a safe and fun New Year's! 😊
Oh bless you sweet wee Josh 🥹🫶🏻
I'm also child free, so I never really thought about it before, but my friend and her husband are both heavily tattooed, pierced, with coloured hair and dress 'alternatively'. Their son is in primary school now, and now I'm wondering what people have said to them at the school...
I sent my tattooist the exact same fish clip, and she was like, yup, that's totally you, haha
I like to watch the whole process but i dont want to make my artist feel awkward or something so i try to just watch now and again. Im just fascinated
I've never been this early! Excited to watch
I dont like talking about personal stuff with strangers, even if most of my tattoos dont have any meaning, it still means talking about the choices I made with my body when I honestly just wanted to do groceries yknow. Like at a party I can understand it more, but in public im just not down for it at all
Always happy to see a new Lauren video 💖 just got the cutest fall/Gilmore Esq spooky pumpkin coffee piece. Next week is Tea baby ☕️
watching this on my birthday ♡♡♡ thank you!!
