    I love when she talks about how she read that people's bowels dropped out at certain frequencies, and if she could do it that, they might see some action...now THAT'S punk rock!

    I saw McGeoch play with Magazine at Edgerton's Hotel on Church Street in Toronto when they were touring Secondhand Daylight. There was no opening act, and they played for 90 minutes or so. Devoto, Formula, and McGeoch were all very striking visually, but John's guitar cut through the mix in screams and squalls. I'd never heard anything like it before or since.

    Discovered them when I was 18 in 2010 thru reading Neil Gaiman’s Sandman lol. Inimitable sound, and Siouxsie’s unique and bold charisma was always Super inspirational to me as a young woman

    Just amazing how every major city around the world had a 'contingent of kids' trying to make the scene. Be it Punk, Heavy Metal, Funk, etc. And at best 1 - 3 might emerge with limited success. But the Bromley Contingent, my God! Was like all the stars of the universe were put into one galaxy there! And just got better and bigger like a super nova!

    Stinky Toys seen on the flyer at 6:18 are a legendary French punk band and they later became Eli & Jacno, who were among the many synthpop pioneers of the time. Look them up.

    The time PuNk came out was the era of Arena Rock where we would all go to see the Greatest Bands Of All Time (for that week) with the obligatory Greatest Guitarist Of All Time (for that week also). Basically it was all hype as the band was usually struggling to stay in tune and in time so as to reproduce their studio created masterpiece while they were old, tired and stoned out of their mind. Needless to say they failed every time. The bands were missing something.
    PuNks on the other hand were also out of tune and off timed as well, but they had the missing ingredients: youthful energy and a need to have as much fun as possible.

    • @stevencorsoe7512
      @stevencorsoe7512 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jakegothicsnake Here's a good question for you I always wondered why Neil Young had a line in his son "Here is the story of Johnny Rotten,the king is dead but he's not forgotten" that never made sense to me John Rotten is still alive and well unless Neil didn't do his homework...not taking anything from Neil Young but this line always drove me nuts because it's in accurate...can someone tell me why?...😡

    • @deaddoll1361
      @deaddoll1361 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevencorsoe7512 I think the line "better to burn out than it is to rot" spells it out. I thought it was a reaction to something Lydon said about Elvis, Neil Young saying Elvis was dead but not forgotten, and inferring Lydon soon would be. Lydon then went on to do much more than just the Sex Pistols, turning Neil Young's criticism into nonsense.
