Man I felt happy for Waspinator when saw at the end of Beast Wars where he was worshipped by the early humans, but when I saw what happened to him at the end of Beast Machines I felt even more sorry for him.
Waspinator while you do feel for him at times was also one of the bad guys and comic relief of the series. He does come off more empathetic in Beast Machines though and less of a joke compared to BW though.
@@MKF30 Waspinator tends to be treated as a joke (in "Beast Wars" it got to point that they didn't bother showing him being destroyed). The one exception was in "Transformers: Animated". There he was an autobot named Wasp who was framed as a traitor and Bumblebee was partially to blame (Wasp was a bit of a jerk but not a traitor). He was sent to prison and the experience affected his mind, causing him to speak in the third-person. He eventually ends up on Earth and seeks to take revenge on Bumblebee for ruining his life. He ends up meeting with Blackarachnia and she offers him power to take revenge. He reluctantly accepts and she fuses organic material into his body. He becomes extremely powerful and dangerous...and not a joke and renames himself Waspinator. Unfortunately, they never followed up on that.

The problem was, he abused the pro-humans and they finally got fed up with him and ejected him. If he had treated them kindly and protected and supported them he might have been able to stay there and have a good life. Something that occurred to me just now: Considering Waspinator's history, why would Megatron put his spark into one of the Vehicon generals? Considering that he has a large number of sparks to choose from, and the ability to install a shell program to contain their true selves (like with Rhinox inside of Tankor), why would he choose Waspinator? The only reason I can think of is that towards the end Waspinator started to display a bit of independence when he refused to obey an order because he was fed up with continually being blown up and treated like dirt. Since Megatron's purpose in creating the Vehicon Generals was to to have leaders able to think on their own, yet still be subservient to Megatron.

I remember looking in the show's production bible (it's out there), and they somehow wrote multiple conflicting sentences under the assumption that either Waspinator or Silverbolt was Jetstorm, weirdly. This could have been a pretty late decision.

Coyote, where nothing goes right for him no matter how hard he tries (such as just flying along not bothering anyone and he gets shot out of the sky by a stray shot). What would have been interesting is that Thrust gets damaged and Waspinator takes over his body. But Waspinator sees the programming of Thrust and realizes that it can correct many of his own flaws so Waspinator and Thrust truly fuse together. The result is a new Thrust who extremely effective and not a joke at all, one who is a true threat to the Maximals...and is so effective that he starts to worry Megatron.
How Waspinator got back to Cybertron: He studied the historical data tracks of the great war via the Darksydes computer and pieced a few things from his possession from Starscream. He then found a dormant stasis pod and took it to a place to stay out of history's way, he went into voluntary stasis lock until the eighties where he stole a ride in the space bridge or on Astrotrain and took another nap until the modern day. He tried to join Megatron but was seized.
I still can't believe they scrapped the sequel to Beast Machines, because they wanted to go back to basics "where vehicle forms look like vehicles", only to go back on their word with the incomprehensible clusterflack that is Bayformers design.
I like to think that Waspinator somehow managed to fly all the way back to Cybertron, but as always his bad luck struck again and he got there JUST as Megatron began his spark harvesting operations.
Poor Waspinator for getting the most humiliation on the show because there's no place for him on the Maximal team despite that he's no longer a Predacon.
By waiting. These bots can live a long time. And it's not too surprising that he managed to stay hidden that long during the great war. Those bots despite how advanced they are took over 9 million years to finish their war.
Anyone else a little miffed about Thrust kinda getting shoved aside? Like, they seemed to be building towards a legitimate redemption arc until the punchline of him being wasp hit, and then none of the maximals gave a fuck about him anymore even if it was clear there was some part of him that wanted to do something good. My mans was robbed.
It always felt really last minute, bait-and-switch after doing all the soul-searching between Blackarachnia and Thrust only for it to be a "JK, it's actually the obvious choice, the bad buy who flies is silverbolt". And then, yeah, Thrust became kinda irrelevant after that one gag about him being Waspinator.

I noticed in Beast Machines that the Maximals don't have any guns, missiles, or artillery. I don't know if it was a thematic choice or a network mandate, but either way keeping the Vehicon bodies would be going against that design choice. Would've been cool though.
Thrust should have been Tarantulus. Leave Waspinator in peace on Earth. That way the little spat between Thrust and Jet Storm over BlackArachnia would've fit a bit better.
Looks like Megatron’s process. The turns transformers in into vehicle cons, makes their personalities the exact opposite of what they are. It turned into bumbling insect into a brooding biker and a noble warrior, with a code of honor into an immature loudmouth, who never shut up. And a genius into a muscle bound idiot with a blaster for a brain.
This series is criminally underrated, I never got the hate for it it's the most spiritual, dark and deep Transformers series out of all of them with the meaning to everything when you break it down and what their future is. But I did always have one question, lol realistically I can't see how he made it back to Cyberton since they time travelled to Prehistoric Earth to begin with once the natives slingshotted him into space lol unless he followed the portal back? Some speculate he found a ship or pod but it's whatever Because I always felt that was a bit of a stretch lol but then it is a cartoon so it's whatever lol I also felt bad for him when he got turned down by BlackArachnia.
The common theory is that Megatron himself hunted him down in order to punish him for quitting Predacons during the final battle. He did openly declare that Megatron doesn't command him. And for a control freak like Beast Wars/Machines Megatron, that's grounds for punishment.
The way he made it sound once Waspinator was in space, he just flew under his own power back to Cybertron. Which would probably take tens or hundreds of thousands, if not millions of years. I think part of the problem with Beast Machines popularity is a combination of a few different things. For one, the Maximal's transformations were plenty different from Beast Wars' (relatively) more realistic transformations. By that I mean in Machines when they transform, you would literally see parts of their body shift into something else, which made it all but impossible to make the toys show accurate. Which leads into my second point- The Beast Machines toys weren't really show accurate, which kind of killed my interest in buying any. Another big complaint I see is that Megatron and Optimus' new characterizations feel sort of jarring. Having recently rewatched both Wars and Machines, I kind of agree with. This Megatron having a god complex isn't anything new by any means, but him finding Beast Modes an impure abomination and desiring an end to individuality definitely is. Granted, you can argue that its a conclusion he came to during the unspecified amount of time he had between his escape mid-Trans Warp jump and the Maximals' return to Cybertron, but that feels like a bit of a cop out. Optimus Primal's new characterization as a more spiritual person is much more jarring, because after his reformating, he went from normal leader to full on spiritual guru on a dime. It just felt sort of rushed. Not bad mind you. Just kind of like they wasted some good storylines.

Unless Megatron sent out orbs or drones or something? Lot of questions with Waspinator but that's why I said it's a cartoon so I try not to question it too much lol but yeah Megs BW and BM definitely a power hungry control freak that's for sure. The fact that he wanted every other Transformers spark past and present in him as one was kind of nuts.
@@barbatosmcmurderton4209 Yeah that's the thing that's why I am thinking one of the other theories makes more logical sense with how he got back to Cybertron, he followed the transwarp portal back thru time that the Maximals and Megatron took back to current Cybertron or Megatron sent scouts and got Waspinator back some how since like you said would take thousands if not millions of years lol. Of course this is all speculation, I've seen a lot regarding Waspinator getting back I feel it's very open and would love to ask the writers for a reasonable explanation behind that one lol. This is true to a degree as some toys(I have some) trasnformered perfectly like the show where others were nothing like it and just didn't work realistically speaking so they had to improvise with what they had for the sake of the toy but I know what you mean where as the vehicle ones in BM or G1 transformed smoother since machines and easier to replicate the shows versions. Though I haven't seen a Thrust toy that works exactly like the show, so far the only toy versions I've seen of Thrust has 2 wheels legs, not one big one that I can find so far, I guess he wouldn't stand on his own as to why they did that different toy design? It's the same with Rattrap, he has 2 leg wheels where as the toys have his legs different. There are some BM toys that are indeed accurate like Megatron, Primal, Black Arachnia, Jetstorm, Cheetor, Tankor, Obsidian to name a few offhand but others were very different like Rattrap, Thrust and others not even in the show at all. I guess due to the technoranic designs of the transformations that gave the toy companies a harder time compared to the G1 and BW series. The other main reason a lot of fans didn't like or care for the darker, sinister and spiritual tone compared to BW more comical, fun and action packed one. BM was more serious and honestly for the time since mostly kids watched I am not sure that meshed well with the demographic, I liked it but a lot of my friends were like "it was too serious and didn't feel like Transformers" I've seen this a lot online as well so it is what it is I guess. What I've read here and there. I have no issue with Megatron's more obsession with power since that's his MO he's always had an agenda, controlling everything and such though I personally found his hatred for the organic to be more rushed than Primals more fierce leader to spiritual guru change due to the fact when they first landed there and got reformated, Primal went through that change but also spoke to the matrix opening his mind so imo that felt more justified than Megatron's obsession with ridding everything organic. In the end Megatron felt everything needed to be technological only and Primal saw the light to be a balance of technorganic after thinking initially it had to be organic like Earth, before realizing it had to be a balance of both. I did like their rivalry though being kept just for a different war/reasoning this time around.
I'm not sure if it was really "deep" or just being mysterious for the sake of being mysterious. It felt repetitive with vehicons chasing maximals every episode. The writers only had a basic knowledge of Beast Wars so characterizations got messed up. The limited number of episodes with the grand scale made everything rush rush rush. An organic Cybertron made no sense (along with fossils of animals). Megatron never scanned a wolf so where did the wolf part of Noble come from? The series kept asking questions that it never gave a good answer to. Not to say the series didn't have some good points, but it could have been much better with just a few changes on the part of Hasbro. Having the writers watch Beast Wars (or at least read the scripts) and adding a few more episodes to allow for more build-up would have done wonders.
I'll be honest, this 'revelation' pissed me off when I saw it. All the foreshadowing and interactions pointed to Thrust being Silverbolt, and then they threw away all the chemistry with Blackarachnia just for a cheap gag. Besides, I liked Jetstorm just the way he was. Having him turn into Silverbolt tossed away his manic personality. Thrust's brooding demeanour could've had some depth if it had been Silverbolt underneath

I prefer to present the option in which Waspinator got bored of being an idol among the australopithecus and he simply left them. Then he accidentally found an undamaged protoform, and without hesitation activated it. Waspinator did not it reprogram into a predacon, as he himself was tired of being one of them. Then he used a piece of amber with an insect inside to scan, mistaking it for a wasp (although it could be a bee or a hoverfly). And in the end, he got a new female transformer with a winged insect form, with which Waspinator would now be truly happy. As for Cybertron, Waspinator, of course, was bored, but did not try to return there. After all, he understood that it was very difficult, if not impossible, but when there is someone else of your race and almost the same animal form nearby and "she" does not consider you slag - you can survive it.
Wow. Just... wow. For some dumb reason I honestly gave Beast Machines the benefit of the doubt that the reason for Waspinator being back on Cybertron would be reasonable. Don't know why I bothered giving it even that little bit of credit. Waspinator would've ran out of Energon long before reaching Cybertron, not to mention his beast form couldn't last in the vacuum of space for that length of time. Not to mention, the transformers on Cybertron who were looking for Optimus Prime and Megatron would've eventually found him, screwing up history... So many plotholes, so little time. This was your one chance, Beast Machines, and ya blew it big time, like everything else

Another plothole here. Silverbolt acts glad to be free of being the con Megatron made him into here, but when he's permanently freed later on, he says he preferred being a heartless machine, even screaming "NOOOOO!" when he realizes he's been freed. Lovely how they couldn't even bother keeping their character's motives accurate. Though considering Silverbolt's ugly as shit Maximal form in this series, can't really say I blame him screaming "NOOOOO!" when he saw what he looked like

I just finished my marathons of both Beast Wars and Beast Machines, and Waspinator is my 2nd favorite character of the shows lol (Dinobot is my 1st fav) I was really hoping for more Waspinator in Beast Machines, but unfortunately that's not the case so no funny bug Droid moments. On the brighter side of things, I actually do like Thrust a lot so the lack of Waspinator mostly makes up for the fact that Thrust, as well as the other 2 generals Jet Storm and Tankor (or rather Rhinox), were excellent villains.
It's possible that Waspinator eventually constructed a ship to fly to cybertron. There was still energon on prehistoric Earth and the possibility of intacted parts from all the ships, including the arc, including trans warp cells that he could've found in order to get home.

I love beast machines but the only thing I don't like are the designs I wish they could have went with an upgrade of their original designs from beast wars

I still can't believe they scrapped the sequel to Beast Machines, because they wanted to go back to basics "where vehicle forms look like vehicles", only to go back on their word with the incomprehensible clusterflack that is Bayformers design.
I hated Beast Machines... but this was a good twist.
I like to think that Waspinator somehow managed to fly all the way back to Cybertron, but as always his bad luck struck again and he got there JUST as Megatron began his spark harvesting operations.

Anyone else a little miffed about Thrust kinda getting shoved aside? Like, they seemed to be building towards a legitimate redemption arc until the punchline of him being wasp hit, and then none of the maximals gave a fuck about him anymore even if it was clear there was some part of him that wanted to do something good. My mans was robbed.
It always felt really last minute, bait-and-switch after doing all the soul-searching between Blackarachnia and Thrust only for it to be a "JK, it's actually the obvious choice, the bad buy who flies is silverbolt". And then, yeah, Thrust became kinda irrelevant after that one gag about him being Waspinator.
@@177SCmaro legit yeah. Even after, the scene where he was internally freaking out a little at megatron's spark consuming other FELT like it was supposed to go somewhere, but it just. Didn't. They patched it up with a half hearted "I'll fight for everyone's freedom, even yours" and that was the end of it. Fucking. Rigged.

I swear Waspinator and Inferno were my go to Predacons! Sad Inferno didn’t make it over to the Beast Machines side, he’s the one character my cousin and I could agree on!!!

Honestly, I think they should've kept the vehicon bodies like Tankor/Rhinox. Certainly plenty of upsides.
I noticed in Beast Machines that the Maximals don't have any guns, missiles, or artillery. I don't know if it was a thematic choice or a network mandate, but either way keeping the Vehicon bodies would be going against that design choice. Would've been cool though.
Thrust should have been Tarantulus. Leave Waspinator in peace on Earth.
That way the little spat between Thrust and Jet Storm over BlackArachnia would've fit a bit better.

Looks like Megatron’s process. The turns transformers in into vehicle cons, makes their personalities the exact opposite of what they are. It turned into bumbling insect into a brooding biker and a noble warrior, with a code of honor into an immature loudmouth, who never shut up. And a genius into a muscle bound idiot with a blaster for a brain.
The massive machine head was still there...
This series is criminally underrated, I never got the hate for it it's the most spiritual, dark and deep Transformers series out of all of them with the meaning to everything when you break it down and what their future is. But I did always have one question, lol realistically I can't see how he made it back to Cyberton since they time travelled to Prehistoric Earth to begin with once the natives slingshotted him into space lol unless he followed the portal back? Some speculate he found a ship or pod but it's whatever Because I always felt that was a bit of a stretch lol but then it is a cartoon so it's whatever lol I also felt bad for him when he got turned down by BlackArachnia.
The common theory is that Megatron himself hunted him down in order to punish him for quitting Predacons during the final battle. He did openly declare that Megatron doesn't command him. And for a control freak like Beast Wars/Machines Megatron, that's grounds for punishment.
The way he made it sound once Waspinator was in space, he just flew under his own power back to Cybertron. Which would probably take tens or hundreds of thousands, if not millions of years.
I think part of the problem with Beast Machines popularity is a combination of a few different things. For one, the Maximal's transformations were plenty different from Beast Wars' (relatively) more realistic transformations. By that I mean in Machines when they transform, you would literally see parts of their body shift into something else, which made it all but impossible to make the toys show accurate.
Which leads into my second point- The Beast Machines toys weren't really show accurate, which kind of killed my interest in buying any.
Another big complaint I see is that Megatron and Optimus' new characterizations feel sort of jarring. Having recently rewatched both Wars and Machines, I kind of agree with. This Megatron having a god complex isn't anything new by any means, but him finding Beast Modes an impure abomination and desiring an end to individuality definitely is. Granted, you can argue that its a conclusion he came to during the unspecified amount of time he had between his escape mid-Trans Warp jump and the Maximals' return to Cybertron, but that feels like a bit of a cop out. Optimus Primal's new characterization as a more spiritual person is much more jarring, because after his reformating, he went from normal leader to full on spiritual guru on a dime. It just felt sort of rushed. Not bad mind you. Just kind of like they wasted some good storylines.
@@girl1213 I guess that makes sense though for Megatron how did he have time to get to Cybertron before the Maximals did(toss out the virus that devolves them and make them not transform) and still get Waspinator? Unless Megatron sent out orbs or drones or something? Lot of questions with Waspinator but that's why I said it's a cartoon so I try not to question it too much lol but yeah Megs BW and BM definitely a power hungry control freak that's for sure. The fact that he wanted every other Transformers spark past and present in him as one was kind of nuts.
@@barbatosmcmurderton4209 Yeah that's the thing that's why I am thinking one of the other theories makes more logical sense with how he got back to Cybertron, he followed the transwarp portal back thru time that the Maximals and Megatron took back to current Cybertron or Megatron sent scouts and got Waspinator back some how since like you said would take thousands if not millions of years lol. Of course this is all speculation, I've seen a lot regarding Waspinator getting back I feel it's very open and would love to ask the writers for a reasonable explanation behind that one lol.
This is true to a degree as some toys(I have some) trasnformered perfectly like the show where others were nothing like it and just didn't work realistically speaking so they had to improvise with what they had for the sake of the toy but I know what you mean where as the vehicle ones in BM or G1 transformed smoother since machines and easier to replicate the shows versions. Though I haven't seen a Thrust toy that works exactly like the show, so far the only toy versions I've seen of Thrust has 2 wheels legs, not one big one that I can find so far, I guess he wouldn't stand on his own as to why they did that different toy design?
It's the same with Rattrap, he has 2 leg wheels where as the toys have his legs different. There are some BM toys that are indeed accurate like Megatron, Primal, Black Arachnia, Jetstorm, Cheetor, Tankor, Obsidian to name a few offhand but others were very different like Rattrap, Thrust and others not even in the show at all. I guess due to the technoranic designs of the transformations that gave the toy companies a harder time compared to the G1 and BW series.
The other main reason a lot of fans didn't like or care for the darker, sinister and spiritual tone compared to BW more comical, fun and action packed one. BM was more serious and honestly for the time since mostly kids watched I am not sure that meshed well with the demographic, I liked it but a lot of my friends were like "it was too serious and didn't feel like Transformers" I've seen this a lot online as well so it is what it is I guess. What I've read here and there.
I have no issue with Megatron's more obsession with power since that's his MO he's always had an agenda, controlling everything and such though I personally found his hatred for the organic to be more rushed than Primals more fierce leader to spiritual guru change due to the fact when they first landed there and got reformated, Primal went through that change but also spoke to the matrix opening his mind so imo that felt more justified than Megatron's obsession with ridding everything organic. In the end Megatron felt everything needed to be technological only and Primal saw the light to be a balance of technorganic after thinking initially it had to be organic like Earth, before realizing it had to be a balance of both. I did like their rivalry though being kept just for a different war/reasoning this time around.
I'm not sure if it was really "deep" or just being mysterious for the sake of being mysterious. It felt repetitive with vehicons chasing maximals every episode. The writers only had a basic knowledge of Beast Wars so characterizations got messed up. The limited number of episodes with the grand scale made everything rush rush rush. An organic Cybertron made no sense (along with fossils of animals). Megatron never scanned a wolf so where did the wolf part of Noble come from? The series kept asking questions that it never gave a good answer to. Not to say the series didn't have some good points, but it could have been much better with just a few changes on the part of Hasbro. Having the writers watch Beast Wars (or at least read the scripts) and adding a few more episodes to allow for more build-up would have done wonders.

I'll be honest, this 'revelation' pissed me off when I saw it. All the foreshadowing and interactions pointed to Thrust being Silverbolt, and then they threw away all the chemistry with Blackarachnia just for a cheap gag.
Besides, I liked Jetstorm just the way he was. Having him turn into Silverbolt tossed away his manic personality. Thrust's brooding demeanour could've had some depth if it had been Silverbolt underneath

I've thought that he simply flew back to Cybertron. It would take thousands of years to return, but all he have to do is launch himself in the direction of Cybertron and then coast there, only adjusting his course when needed.
I prefer to present the option in which Waspinator got bored of being an idol among the australopithecus and he simply left them. Then he accidentally found an undamaged protoform, and without hesitation activated it. Waspinator did not it reprogram into a predacon, as he himself was tired of being one of them. Then he used a piece of amber with an insect inside to scan, mistaking it for a wasp (although it could be a bee or a hoverfly). And in the end, he got a new female transformer with a winged insect form, with which Waspinator would now be truly happy. As for Cybertron, Waspinator, of course, was bored, but did not try to return there. After all, he understood that it was very difficult, if not impossible, but when there is someone else of your race and almost the same animal form nearby and "she" does not consider you slag - you can survive it.

Wow. Just... wow. For some dumb reason I honestly gave Beast Machines the benefit of the doubt that the reason for Waspinator being back on Cybertron would be reasonable.
Don't know why I bothered giving it even that little bit of credit.
Waspinator would've ran out of Energon long before reaching Cybertron, not to mention his beast form couldn't last in the vacuum of space for that length of time.
Not to mention, the transformers on Cybertron who were looking for Optimus Prime and Megatron would've eventually found him, screwing up history...
So many plotholes, so little time.

I just finished my marathons of both Beast Wars and Beast Machines, and Waspinator is my 2nd favorite character of the shows lol (Dinobot is my 1st fav)
I was really hoping for more Waspinator in Beast Machines, but unfortunately that's not the case so no funny bug Droid moments. On the brighter side of things, I actually do like Thrust a lot so the lack of Waspinator mostly makes up for the fact that Thrust, as well as the other 2 generals Jet Storm and Tankor (or rather Rhinox), were excellent villains.
How though? I never understood this. Waspinator got left on earth.
It's possible that Waspinator eventually constructed a ship to fly to cybertron. There was still energon on prehistoric Earth and the possibility of intacted parts from all the ships, including the arc, including trans warp cells that he could've found in order to get home.
He's got wings and primus won't let him die. I'm pretty sure after he got launched he just picked a direction and started flying the slow way
