Creating a star/sun using animated texture maps in Blender 2.9

- Welcome to the first video of the year. We look at how to create an animated closeup of the sun in Blender using 4D noise textures and some compositing tricks to create distorted rays.

mate next time speed the video itself up to about *20 or people will actually be able to follow step by step and understand.... seriously if you want to appeal to more people make a script in which you describe step by step ( AND INSTALL THE SHOW KEYS ADDON!!)

very nice! was looking for exactly this. a suggestion tho... an 'icosphere' will give you all around even subdivision. use 'object coords' since the noise textures are 3d and don't need uv. also, you can animate 'W' value of noise by typing a driver into 'W' field. like: #frame*0.001

why the camera moves when i toggle camera view by pressing 0 and trying to move in viewport by middle mouse button ? , also why it is hart to animate that camera ?
how to show "viewers" node?
My render doesn't show the lighting/the lighting rays, do you know how to fix this? This is a general issue I have with my renderer, it always renders things in a boring way and doesn't show the full picture.
I found a fix for your problem. With the sun selected got to object properties and under Relations set the pass index to 1. In the compositor add an ID mask node before the sun flare filter. Set to 1. No when you click on the sun flare an X will appear. (Mine was off screen but setting low values for the horizontal and vertical brought it in). You can now grab the X with your mouse and position it where you want. You can also keyframe the Horizontal and Vertical values in the compositor.
Can you please elaborate what you mean by 'adding an ID mask node before the sun flare filter'? Do you mean sun beams, cause there is two of them. I tried with both, but I cannot seem to see any X appearing sadly. :(

Very nice tutorial !!! And very well explained ! I've downloaded the 2 files and in the second one, it appears that you used a crypto mate filter in the compositing and it makes things really nice and the halo more realistic but I really don't understand how it works ? Could you explain a bit or give a link for a tutorial on that subject ? THX

Great video! I have a problem, even though I am using the same blender version as you, but when I render, the rays do not appear. I am using cycles and following each step precisely, but the rays are not working, although they are appearing in the compositing tab. If you have any advice that would be great, thank you so much!
That's curious... It's working in the compositing tab but not in the final render? Is the output of the compositor plugged into the composit node?

when I use the blur node in the compositor it makes it take ages because it uses my CPU not my GPU do you know why?
Blender's compositor can be rather slow at times, even on my end it took longer to composit a frame than actual rendering. But I've heard that there are plans on the roadmap to make the compositor realtime.

How did you turn the background black? Why skip it of you changing it for?

@@RIOTGEAR3D for the animation of sun beam to apply displacement, you create a movieclip node and add a clip, this clip : you make it with animating a noise texture with emission ? (sorry for my bad english)
@@maxd6878 yes, that's exactly right, and don't sweat it, english is a borrowed language for me too.
Problem i have is that when i add the light weight it just makes it the ring and remover the other textures, but when i swap its the textures and no ring

when i download the file i fucking corrupts like every other file(.blend) and half of the texture is missing(how to fix this)
